00:05news coming in air india tail strike incident while landing in bengaluru
00:10ai-2651 operating from delhi to bengaluru on 21st may experienced a tail strike during the landing
00:16the aircraft landed safely air india has said that the landing of the air india aircraft has
00:22been safe all passengers and crew disembarked normally so that's the news that's coming from
00:28air india and it was a tail strike incident while landing in bengaluru ai-2651 operating
00:35delhi bengaluru on 21st may experienced a tail strike incident all right look at this visual
00:43we received the visual of what exactly happened look at that you can see underneath the the wing
00:48as it appears there was this tail strike that has happened we'll try and get more clarity on this
00:53but this is what india today has accessed as an image and after this there's been a safe landing
00:59so we'll try and a certain further details of what exactly happened our colleagues are joining us
01:03but here's what air india has said the aircraft has landed safely all passengers and crew disembarked
01:10normally it was a tail strike incident while landing in bengaluru now tail strike in the sense
01:15where did uh the the tail of the aircraft uh really hit and uh what kind of an incident happened
01:22i want to
01:23immediately uh bring in my colleague amit bhardwaj for the latest amit tell us more what happened uh during the
01:29landing because uh the fact is it's the takeoff and the landing which are considered to be the riskiest
01:35when it comes to aircraft operations not as much when you're midair
01:43uh puja you know first things first this was air india's 2651 aircraft which had taken off from
01:49delhi was landing in bengaluru when the incident happened and uh the uh aircraft has been grounded
01:56at bengaluru airport so the concerned authorities will be actually carrying out the inspection as per
02:03the sop what air india has confirmed to india today is that uh the landing was safe despite the
02:09tail strike number one number two the passengers and the crew were disembarked uh safely from the
02:14craft and now that aircraft has been grounded and the uh you know the other uh flight that is uh
02:212652
02:22uh that is bangaluru delhi uh segment has been cancelled by air india uh but what i'm learning
02:28through my sources is that this was a narrow body aircraft airbus 321 and while it was uh attempting
02:35the landing at bangaluru airport what happened was there was another wide body aircraft which was
02:41taking off or which has just taken off from uh the runway and hence there was wave wave turbulence
02:49because of that uh so if you look at the trajectory you know there's a wide body aircraft which has
02:54just
02:54taken off from the bangaluru airport there was a wake turbulence because created because of that
03:00particular uh takeoff and this was a narrow body aircraft so just because by the sheer uh fact that
03:07these were two different size of the aircraft so one being the large body wide body aircraft the other
03:13being a narrow body aircraft of uh airbus and that has possibly caused some sort of turbulence and the
03:20the pilot took that decision that he wants to take a go around he does not want it to carry
03:25go ahead with the landing and that's when the tail strike happened so a go around was done go around
03:32is essentially when you are not 100 sure about the landing the pilots use that method a lot of times
03:38across the airports across the world
03:40you
