00:01Officials across Europe have slammed Israel's treatment of activists arrested from a Gaza-bound
00:08aid flotilla after the Israeli Minister of National Security posted a video of them
00:13bound and forced to kneel. The video was published on Ben Gavir's ex-account and was
00:19captioned with the words, Welcome to Israel. Italy's Prime Minister Giorgio Maloney called
00:25for the immediate release of any detained Italian citizens and demanded an apology from Israel.
00:32France and Portugal have denounced Ben Gavir's actions and summoned Israel's ambassador to
00:38their respective countries. Spain also summoned Israel's envoy to Spain, as its foreign minister
00:44condemned the treatment of the activists as monstrous. Irish Foreign Minister Helen McEntee
00:50said she was appalled and shocked by the video and demanded the release of all
00:55detainees, among who is the sister of Irish President Catherine Connolly. The video also
01:01drew a strong domestic reaction, with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying it
01:07was, quote, not in line with Israel's values and norms. The roughly 430 detained activists
01:14had set sail from Turkey last week as part of the global Samud flotilla in the latest attempt
01:20to breach Israel's blockade of the Palestinian territory. Israel controls all entry points
01:26to Gaza, which is suffering from severe shortages of food, medicine and other essential supplies.
01:33Aid deliveries to the enclave have often been blocked entirely.
