00:33We're talking about the Wizards in that number one pick.
00:36EB tweeted a video of Darren Peterson's game against BYU.
00:41And you see him dunking.
00:42You see him dribbling the ball up the court, shooting threes.
00:44You see him taking the ball to the basket.
00:46He looks uber impressive.
00:47Now, if you did a DeBonta highlight reel of his game against Texas or whatever,
00:52you're going to see amazing highlights too.
00:54And we're wondering if you have a particular lean.
00:57It seems like a couple of Wizards legends too.
01:00John Wall said if he had the number one pick, he would take Darren Peterson.
01:05And Gilbert Arenas has also weighed in.
01:09And he says he would also go with Darren Peterson.
01:14Those are two guys who starred here in Washington and who had the ball in their hands.
01:20So they may be biased more towards that.
01:23And it's not to say that DeBonta never dribbles the ball.
01:25He does.
01:26But it's a little bit different.
01:28I would say my preference, and DeBonta may be fantastic, is Darren Peterson.
01:33And I brought this up before.
01:35If you watch the NBA playoffs, look at the teams who are advancing.
01:38You've got OKC.
01:41Shea is a combo guard.
01:44Sometimes he's a point guard.
01:46Sometimes he's a two guard.
01:46But he has the ball in his hands a lot.
01:48But he creates it.
01:49The Knicks last night, Jalen Brunson, ball in his hands, scoring a ton, making plays for his teammates.
01:57On the other side is James Harden and Donovan Mitchell.
02:00Wemby is like the outlier of the group.
02:02And he's the outlier in all of the NBA and in professional basketball over the world.
02:08All things being equal, if they're both going to be good, I'll take the guard.
02:13Look, I love John Wall and Gilbert Arenas, but I don't think Will Dawkins really cares
02:19what they think about what the Wizards are going to do with another one overall pick.
02:23He's going to rely on his scouting instincts, his staff, and the people.
02:27But do you think they have, of course, do you think they have at least respectable opinion?
02:33Of course, they have basketball credibility.
02:34But I don't think their opinion on whether they love DeBonta, Caleb Wilson, Peterson, whoever it is,
02:40I don't think that matters one iota to the Wizards.
02:42They've said that that's going to affect Will Dawkins.
02:44No, we're saying that they're making a point.
02:45What I think is important about it is those are respected basketball guys.
02:49Now, they're probably guard-centric.
02:50Yeah.
02:51So I would say that's something they're probably biased towards guards.
02:54That's what I was saying.
02:55Yeah.
02:56But Arenas said he's the one, been watching him for three years, speaking of Darren Peterson.
03:04Professional, professional, all hoop, no play type of guy.
03:08And I don't, I actually, I don't love his personality.
03:11It's a little aloof for me, but it might, it doesn't really matter.
03:17It doesn't really, it doesn't matter when, you know, some of those guys on the Wizards,
03:22they're not like super jovial, like, like hill, like those guys just like the ball too.
03:30And some have said he would fit right in with them because he's a gym rat.
03:36I'm sure DeBonsa is too.
03:37Yeah.
03:38But DeBonsa has more character and charisma.
03:40Like, if it was a charisma contest, DeBonsa blows him away.
03:43Yeah.
03:44But it's not a charisma contest.
03:45No, it's a talent contest.
03:46And they're both super, this is not a knock against DeBonsa's talent.
03:50I think what resonates with me also, and I'm basically officially doing a 180.
03:55Yeah.
03:56I'm officially doing a 180 and saying, I want him now.
03:59Yeah.
04:00And I think, I actually think they're going to take him.
04:02You want which guy, Peterson?
04:03I want Peterson now.
04:04I'm doing a 180.
04:05They might.
04:06And it's just because, I think also when JP points out, like, the way the league is so
04:11guard-centric, that resonates with me.
04:16I just, his, when you watch him, his style of play just translates to the league.
04:20Yeah.
04:21But DeBonsa has guard talent as well.
04:24I know.
04:25He's a freak.
04:25I mean, he can get out there and score from the perimeter.
04:28He can dribble the ball.
04:29He can get by, you know, smaller guys.
04:33He's really good at that.
04:34And I do believe, and JP disagrees with me, I believe 97% of people can improve as shooters.
04:39Yeah.
04:40But Peterson's just a born shooter.
04:42He's already a shooter.
04:43Well, DeBonsa, you're right, though.
04:44If you put him into the Wizards lineup right now, he's probably projected to be the
04:51two-guard.
04:51It would be Trae Young and DeBonsa in the backcourt with probably Keyshawn George, Saar, and Anthony
04:57Davis.
04:58That's a big lineup, too.
04:59You can mix and match.
05:00I'd like to have a two-guard that's 6'9", personally.
05:03If he can handle the position and go out on the wing, slash into the lane, and do it.
05:09See, I'm not a 6'9".
05:10I'm all about it.
05:11I'm more out on Trae Young than you guys.
05:13I think, you know, he'll score.
05:15Yeah.
05:16Undeniably will score, and he'll give assists.
05:19I just don't feel like he's a winning player.
05:21I feel like Trae Young, if you were watching the game last night, I think I saw that when
05:26James Harden was on defense, the Knicks, in their last 20 possessions or so, they went
05:34at him every time, and they averaged 1.9 points per possession.
05:38So they're basically scoring a bucket every time.
05:40It wasn't always Jalen Brunson, but they would go at him.
05:43Maybe there would be a double team, and Jalen Brunson would pass it to Cat, and he would
05:47hit a reverse layup.
05:50Trae Young will get attacked.
05:52And I'm not sure if maybe Darren Peterson would, too, down the road, but Trae Young will
05:57get his, but he will give up just as many.
06:00And to me, he's not a long-term building block.
06:04You tell me that Darren Peterson can play point guard, and what is he, 6'4", 6'5"?
06:08Oh, he's 6'6".
06:10I think he's closer.
06:10No, I thought he was like 6'4", or something, and then with shoes.
06:13Sign me up as point guard of the future, if he's the real deal.
06:17He's got good wingspan.
06:18Like, his measurements were great.
06:20I think the Bons is getting all the hype for the 42.
06:22The 42's nutty, okay?
06:23Yeah.
06:24Especially for his size.
06:25I think Peterson was like 39 or 40.
06:28Like, that's nutty, too.
06:29Great athletes.
06:30He's 6'4", barefoot.
06:32Yeah.
06:32All right, so give him 6'5", and a half.
06:346'5", at least with shoes.
06:35Like, Trey, I mean, again.
06:37So, DeBons is 6'10", in shoes.
06:38Yeah.
06:39Watch the highlights of what Jalen Brunson did to James Harden, and that's the rep on Trey Young.
06:45We got a little taste of Trey Young.
06:47What did he play?
06:47Five games for the Wizards?
06:49Yeah.
06:49Did he even play five?
06:50Eight, maybe eight.
06:51Five to eight.
06:52It was not a big amount of...
06:54It was a sampling.
06:54Yeah, yeah.
06:55It was a sampling platter.
06:56And he was on limited minutes, and he can score.
06:58There's no doubt he can score.
07:00But in terms of building a championship contender,
07:06I would take Darren Peterson.
07:09I'm team DeBonsa.
07:11I'm an AJD guy all day long.
07:14Number one, he will be the pick.
07:16Now, you've got the 180.
07:17I'm not sure, Jason.
07:18Where do you fall?
07:19You're right.
07:19I think he...
07:20Jason's a pro DeBonsa.
07:21I'm DeBonsa just because I like the length,
07:23and he gets down the floor so quick because of his strides.
07:28Vertical's crazy.
07:29He's going to become a better shooter.
07:32Loved the way he played.
07:33He just attacks.
07:34You talk about the highlights with Peterson.
07:36Go watch what he did against Arizona
07:38or what DeBonsa did against Kansas State.
07:40No, his highlights are great.
07:41Yeah.
07:42I mean, he...
07:42Guy averaged 26 a game.
07:44That's what I like about him.
07:45The one game that everyone's pointing to
07:47is the game against Kansas
07:49because he was going against Peterson.
07:51But he went against some really good teams
07:53in the other 30 and was killing them.
07:57So, I think Peterson will be a very good player.
08:00There's a chance that both of them will be great.
08:02I just would rather have the longer, bigger guy
08:05than the guy who's 6'4 1⁄2 or 6'5 1⁄2
08:08who might have some cramping issues.
08:11Will any of you be upset
08:13if they don't take the guy that you want?
08:15No.
08:16No.
08:16I trust you.
08:17I don't think...
08:17I will say this.
08:18I don't think there's a chance
08:19they're taking anybody else other than those two.
08:21Yeah, it's got to be one of those two.
08:22I think I would be upset if they took Boozer.
08:24And Boozer might end up being a great player.
08:26That's the crazy part.
08:27I thought you meant I'd be upset
08:29if they took Peterson over to Boston.
08:30I won't be upset at whoever they pick.
08:31And I also won't be upset
08:33if they feel like the best move is to trade down.
08:35If they get a crazy offer.
08:38I'm okay with that.
08:39It sounds like you're pounding the table.
08:42You got your guy.
08:44I kind of got my guy.
08:46Jason's team AJ.
08:47I've got my guy too.
08:48If all of a sudden the Jazz are going to offer
08:50Ace Bailey and the No. 2 pick
08:52and Will Dawkins thinks that's a great deal,
08:55I have to just go with Will Dawkins.
08:57He might just take Peterson one.
08:59Screw it.
09:00Because Danny Ainge is not going to give him anything.
09:02I wouldn't think.
09:02I'm just saying in a wild scenario.
09:04I don't think they're going to trade it.
09:05If the Jazz come up with a crazy deal
09:06to move up one spot.
09:07I don't think they're going to trade the pick.
09:08I don't think anybody's going to give him anything.
09:09I think Danny Ainge might want Peterson.
09:11Even though there's all that talk
09:13about Utah and BYU,
09:15Peterson fits their team better.
09:17If you follow the NBA,
09:18the Utah Jazz are loaded up with big guys.
09:22That's why I think,
09:23I just think the league
09:25thinks higher of him than the fans.
09:28That's just my vibe I'm getting.
09:30I agree.
09:31Yeah.
09:33But I wouldn't be upset.
09:35I'm team Peterson.
09:36I would not be upset if they take DeBonsa.
09:39I want to be a great player.
09:40And he might be a great player.
09:41I will only be upset in that I'd like to be right.
09:44But I'll root for him, of course.
09:45I don't care.
09:47Boozer, I just feel like Boozer's going to be...
09:51Boozer's not even okay.
09:52He's going to be a pro.
09:54He's going to be a pro.
09:54I might borderline root against Boozer.
09:56He might make an all-star table.
09:58If they throw a curveball at Boozer's the number one pick,
10:01I'll still support it because I'm a Wizards guy.
10:04But in my heart of hearts, I'm not going to lie.
10:07I think he's going to be a 20-10 guy.
10:09I think he's going to be better and just okay.
10:12Boozer's going to be...
10:12I feel like...
10:13He's going to produce.
10:15He's not going to kill you.
10:16He's not going to give you the highlight reels.
10:17Hold on.
10:18He's not going to give you the highlight reels that the other two will.
10:20But in terms of production, he's going to give it to you.
10:22I want the guy...
10:23I want the guy...
10:24Produce in Memphis.
10:25Or go produce in Chicago.
10:25Maybe that's where it'll be.
10:26Here's what I want.
10:27Don't do it here.
10:27And I think it could be the Bonsa or Peterson on any...
10:30I want the guy to give me 35 in a playoff game.
10:32Mm-hmm.
10:33And I think Peterson and the Bonsa could be that guy.
10:37I don't think Boozer's that guy.
10:39He's going to be a 20-10 guy, which is good.
10:41I mean, that's pretty damn good, yeah.
10:42It's good, but it ain't special.
10:44I mean, he's not the guy bringing down the football up on the floor.
10:46One of the comps for Boozer was Al Horford.
10:49He was a great pro.
10:50Probably made a couple of all-star teams.
10:52When he was at his peak, he was a 20-10 type of guy.
10:55That gets in my pencil when you say Al Horford.
10:57Right.
10:57Very little.
10:58That's my point.
10:58I need to see Alex to get excited about Al Horford.
11:02I would rather roll the dice on Caleb Wilson.
11:04And Caleb Wilson...
11:06Wilson is a natural aphrodisiac for me.
11:08It just blew me away.
11:10His interview, he's silly.
11:12In comparison to Kevin Garnett, I would...
11:16They just got to hit it.
11:17...be so excited if they drafted him.
11:18For me to get excited for Carlos Boozer,
11:20I would need to go into a gas station, a shady gas station,
11:23and get one of the enhancers that they're selling
11:25from behind the counter.
11:27I would need that.
11:28I don't think they're going to take him.
11:29I just think whoever gets Boozer is going to get a really good player.
11:33I agree with you.
11:34A really good player.
11:34Hey, just for you, Al Horford made the same amount of all-star games
11:37and NBA all-third team as John Wall.
11:42That's impressive.
11:43Like I said, Al Horford probably made a bunch of all-star teams.
11:46Al Horford has a great career.
11:47Yeah, he's had an amazing career.
11:48It's fine.
11:49He might be boring, but John Wall is a legend.
11:52You just called him a legend.
11:53He has a local legend.
11:55Well, this is not even comparable.
11:57I'm not sure John Wall's an NBA legend.
11:58He's a local legend.
11:59John Wall's way more exciting than Al Horford ever could imagine to be.
12:03That's not to say he's a better player.
12:04He's just more exciting.
12:06So I'm sure he'd rather take that.
12:07Of course.
12:08Yeah, yeah.
12:08Of course.
12:09Listen, you're taking it personal.
12:10Al Horford's fine.
12:12Boring.
12:12I don't want boring.
12:13Al Borford.
12:14I want...
12:15You guys didn't watch Cam Boozer.
12:17You just didn't watch him.
12:18I'm sorry, he's not a boring basketball player.
12:20He brings the ball up court all the time.
12:22He shoots 40% from three-pointers.
12:24He can bust guys down low.
12:26He can do it all.
12:27You know what?
12:27That's fine.
12:27Do it.
12:28He's not boring.
12:29He's a national player of the year.
12:30He's going to probably win rookie of the year.
12:31You don't have a quick twitch.
12:33Do it.
12:33He's 250 pounds.
12:35If he weighed 230 pounds, he'd have a 42-inch vertical, too.
12:39He can do it in the worst market of the league in Memphis.
12:42It's a place nobody wants to go.
12:44He can go hang out with John Morant, and they can be boring together.
12:47He's not beating anybody off the dribble.
12:49He's Al Horford.
12:50Al Horford's not beating anybody off the dribble.
12:51That's what gets people excited.
12:53You're right on the number of All-Star games.
12:55He'd be great in the 80s.
12:56Al Horford never averaged more than 18 points a game in his career.
12:59What?
13:00To compare him to John Wall on All-Star appearances is correct.
13:04I would.
13:05But he never averaged more than 18 points a game, Al Horford, in his career.
13:10I'll bet you $100 that Cam Boozer averages more than 18 points a game in his first...
13:15Boozer might be better.
13:16Or he just falls away from saying he's a rookie.
13:17I would say that, too.
13:18No, he's a rookie.
13:18I don't know.
13:19It takes a year or two.
13:20First four years over 18?
13:21Dylan Hartford averaged 11 points a game this year.
13:23Everyone thinks he's the next greatest thing ever.
13:25If you boost it to 21, I'll make the bet.
13:29First four years, $100.
13:30He doesn't hit 21.
13:32That's three points a game he just changed.
13:34Okay.
13:35I know, but 18 is Harvey Grant.
13:38So get that out of here.
13:3918 is Andrew Wiggins.
13:40Yeah.
13:41You guys should watch Duke basketball.
13:44Wiggins had...
13:45Are you pro?
13:46Wiggins had better years.
13:47So you're a Boozer guy at number one.
13:48The Bonds is three for me.
13:49And Peter Stanton, Boozer, 1A, 1B.
13:51The Bonds is your number three guy?
13:54God, what are you doing over there?
13:56Look online.
13:57There's all kinds of people are saying that Boozer, according to the models, is the number
14:01one player.
14:02The efficiency, off the charts.
14:05I think he's going to be really good.
14:07I'll be stunned.
14:09You guys just are duped by YouTube because Caleb Wilson has a long arm and he could touch
14:15the top of the backboard.
14:16We've seen a zillion guys like that.
14:18I've not even been thinking about Caleb Wilson.
14:19I know.
14:21He's garbage to me.
14:22He's not even a guy that's on the board.
14:24Boozer's my four.
14:25Or should be.
14:25Boozer's my four.
14:26I watched Duke a lot this year, believe me.
14:28I didn't just watch him on YouTube.
14:30Yeah.
14:30He's all right.
14:32I told you, he's going to be a good player.
14:34All right.
14:34If you want a guy who's going to give you 22 and 10, why wouldn't you want him?
14:38You know what?
14:38If you're having trouble sleeping, pick him.
14:43I didn't say the Wizards are going to take him.
14:45I just think he's going to be really good.
14:46If I had my draw the suit, I don't want a Duke guy.
14:48If I can control it.
14:50And this is controllable because the Wizards have the numero uno pick.
14:54They can pick whoever they want.
14:56Start with...
14:57I can't wait to play this when Dawkins picks him.
14:59Hmm?
15:00I can't wait to replay this when Dawkins picks him number one.
15:02What's the likelihood you think?
15:04I want to get you on the record.
15:05The likelihood that Will's going to...
15:0725%.
15:08What did he say for Boozer?
15:10I forget.
15:12Keep trusting.
15:13Cam Boozer.
15:18Cam Boozer.
15:20Consistent.
15:21That's so boring.
15:23Boring!
15:24It's so out on him.
15:25Consistent.
15:26That's so boring.
15:26That's the first thing he said to AJ Baza.
15:31He didn't even have an adjective for the guy.
15:33Let me tell you something.
15:34I'm more sold on Cam Boozer than I am Will Dawkins.
15:38I don't know if Will's going to pick the right guy.
15:41Yeah, that's another one.
15:42That's a wacky one from you.
15:45I'm super, super thrilled with Will Dawkins and companies.
15:48Not because I like him.
15:50Not because I like him.
15:51I would give crap.
15:52If I thought he sucked, I'd say I think he sucks.
15:55Trust me.
15:56If Will Dawkins thinks Cam Boozer sucks, I've got major questions about him.
15:59If he picks the wrong guy and this team wins 30 games next year,
16:03we're going to come on and say he picked the wrong guy
16:05and he might suck at his job.
16:07But I'm not going to say that right now.
16:09Because this will be year four, right?
16:10Yes.
16:11For Will.
16:11Yeah.
16:12It's a big one for Will.
16:13It's a massive one.
16:15Cam Boozer.
16:17Consistent.
16:19Such a guy.
16:21Consistent.
16:22You want to go on record?
16:22I can't remember what he said about the monster.
16:23You want to go on record or you just like to just play fart sounds?
16:26I do like fart sounds.
16:27For DeBatsa, he initially said consistent,
16:29but he had already said that for damn boring.
16:30That was another clue.
16:32And then what did he say after that?
16:34I can't remember.
16:35What was his second?
16:36Score.
16:37Score.
16:37Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
16:39It's not great.
16:41It's just better than consistent.
16:42I mean, Peterson was fierce.
16:44Yeah, fierce.
16:46Fierce.
16:46Strongest ad.
16:47Fierce by far.
16:49Fierce.
16:50Pummels.
16:50Yeah, score.
16:51Fierce is pretty good.
16:52Fierce.
16:53That's maybe he's going to pick them.
16:54I'm going to call you fierce.
16:55You're just saying that because you want to be right about Peterson.
16:58If he said fierce for DeBatsa.
17:01You think I would say that's a terrible adjective?
17:03There's no world where I would ever say fierce is a bad adjective.
17:06He was a DeBatsa guy 24 hours ago.
17:10He was just trying to think of different words to describe him.
17:13I've been leaning Peterson the last week.
17:16I've been coming around, coming around,
17:18and now I'm willing to put my balls on this table right now.
17:22I'm actually not going to say, because I was saying, I want DeBatsa, I want DeBatsa,
17:26and I did.
17:27And then I was saying, I still want DeBatsa, but I think they're going to be, no, I'm taking
17:31that out.
17:32I want Peterson.
17:33I think they're going to take Peterson.
17:35I'm all in.
17:35I don't know who they're going to take.
17:37Put the sack of potatoes right here.
17:38I think they're going to take him.
17:40Fierce.
17:40I haven't even forgotten about Fierce.
17:42Now I'm even more convinced.
17:44How could you say anything better than Fierce?
17:47By the way, did he hem and haw when he said Fierce?
17:50How long did it take him to say Fierce?
17:51Did he go, uh, damn Boozer.
17:56Uh, uh, Fierce.
18:01Did he do that?
18:03How did he do it, actually?
18:04Consistent is like picking your favorite ice cream flavor is vanilla.
18:08All right, but he said, he said score for DeBatsa.
18:12It's the name of the game in basketball.
18:13Score the ball.
18:14Reiser.
18:15Ooh, right.
18:16That's better than consistent.
18:18That was Caleb.
18:19Darren Peterson.
18:22Um.
18:23Um.
18:26Long pause.
18:27Fierce.
18:27Fierce.
18:28Kind of a long pause.
18:28An um and a long pause.
18:29I just told him not to leave the witness.
18:30That was an um and at least a three second pause.
18:33Okay.
18:35I thought he was quicker with it initially, too.
18:37Okay.
18:38But Fierce is, it's hard to argue against Fierce being a pretty good descriptor.
18:42I think Fierce is by far the best descriptor.
18:44He didn't say it as quick.
18:45He didn't say it as quick.
18:46I know, but he needed to find the exact right word to come up with the best word.
18:51Exactly.
18:52The other guy.
18:53So vanilla.
18:55Consistent.
18:56Like, that's such a terrible word.
18:59For the number one overall pick?
19:02Consistent.
19:03Yeah, he's very consistent.
19:05He'll give you 18 in 10.
19:06Uh.
19:08He's going to be toiling it.
19:09He's going to give you more than 18.
19:10He's going to give you 18 in 10.
19:10All right, coming up next, we're going to play Jason Bishop's favorite game.
19:13We've got some great prizes on the game show Wednesday.
19:16Round Robin, Who Am I?
19:18Oh, no.
19:18That's next here on the Junkies.
19:20We're going to play on the Junkies.
19:20We're going to play on the Junkies.
19:20We're going to play on the Junkies.
19:20We're going to play on the Junkies.
19:20We're going to play on the Junkies.
19:20We're going to play on the Junkies.
19:20We're going to play on the Junkies.
