US to screen for Ebola at airports as European medics deploy to region

00:01With a recent Ebola outbreak now declared a global health emergency, the U.S. has announced
00:07it will begin screening air travelers arriving from three African countries.
00:12Passengers will now be checked at airports before entering the country, and non-U.S. passport
00:17holders who travel to Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, or South Sudan in the past
00:2221 days will face entry restrictions.
00:26The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it is monitoring the situation, but
00:31considers the risk of the virus to the U.S. general public as low.
00:36The decision comes after one American citizen tested positive for the virus in the DRC following
00:42exposure related to their work.
00:44The individual is being transferred to Germany for treatment.
00:48Meanwhile, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control said it was deploying experts to
00:54Africa's CDC in Ethiopia to help support the Ebola outbreak response.
01:00At least 100 deaths have been reported with around 400 suspected cases as of Monday.
