00:01Welcome back to another Luan Team Mod Review. Today we are looking at the Simple Protection Mod, which adds a
00:07simple method to do protections.
00:10And basically it's a grid-based system. By default, I want to say it's 16x16x150x16, 150 being the height.
00:24So to protect an area, you need a claim stick, which you can craft with copper ingots, steel ingots, and
00:31some stone brick, which of course is just made from four stone. Pretty simple.
00:35And if you want to share items, you can use a shared chest, which will be available for anybody in
00:42that protection.
00:44So actually, I should have went ahead and grabbed one of those. Fortunately for me, I'm in creative.
00:54Poor Todd over here. He's not so lucky.
00:58So now Todd is my good friend. He's me.
01:03And I'm using him as a demo because in order to share an area, I needed somebody to share it
01:09with.
01:09So if we go ahead and pull up area radar with a check command, we can get a mini-map
01:16of sorts that shows all of the protected areas, available areas, and then hovering them, you can see who has
01:26the protection on it.
01:28But because I am hosting the server, I can play stuff in Todd's area.
01:33Sorry, Todd. You really don't own your area because I'm the server owner. Oops.
01:39But Todd can't do anything in my area, so Todd's kind of landlocked.
01:43Except I was nice enough to give him access on, I think, this area, I believe, so he can dig
01:51out and protect land further out.
01:55But this is a nice system because you don't get goofy edges where you've got a little unprotected space between
02:03things.
02:04Everything is just set to a grid, and if you want to protect an area, you just craft a bunch
02:08of protection sticks and run on out.
02:11So, let's take a look here. I'm assuming I'm in Todd's area. Nope, it says I am in my area.
02:16We have a little info text. It's not really info text. HUD display in the bottom left corner.
02:22So here it says area owner Todd. So if I try to protect this, it says this area is already
02:26owned by Todd.
02:27Oh, Todd, you claimed an area that I wanted, so to seek revenge, I'm going to landlock you in, which
02:34I already did.
02:36I already own this area, so I can't protect it. But there, now we own this area.
02:39And we do get borders here that show temporarily, and I can go ahead and protect this area as well.
02:48So now I have some more land protected, and if I go ahead and pull up the radar again, we
02:52can see exactly which plots of land I have protected.
02:58It does tell you your heading, I guess.
03:02So if I go ahead and look this way, I'm going to pull up the same check command, and now
03:07it says we are looking in south, which is Z minus.
03:11And the whatever we want to call this, the mini map, the radar, also rotates to reflect that.
03:20So up is the direction we are facing, which I guess is what this says.
03:26And then you can see in relation to you where your protected areas are.
03:30So if you wanted to spend a lot of time, you could technically write something on the mini map with
03:36your protections.
03:37The plus and minus buttons don't seem to do anything.
03:41I mean, I don't know why, but yeah, it doesn't.
03:48Access for everybody, area claimed no access for you.
03:51So Todd owns this area.
03:53He hasn't shared it with me, so I don't have access technically.
03:56But because I am hosting the server, I have access.
04:00It's a simple protections privilege.
04:02And you can't revoke it if you are the server admin, I guess.
04:08So I have access, but according to this, I don't.
04:11Access for everybody.
04:12Now this, I'm not really sure what that means.
04:16So I'm going to go ahead and have Todd run back to his area.
04:22All right, so I just had Todd share his area with me.
04:25And there we go.
04:26Now it's colored slightly different.
04:29So we can see that we're not the owner, but the area is shared with us.
04:33Access for everybody.
04:34I don't know why it shows blue here.
04:35I think that just means the white squares because these haven't been protected yet.
04:39I haven't seen a way that I can just share an area with everybody.
04:43So on the subject of sharing areas, let's talk about how we share things.
04:48So there is a check command called area.
04:51And using that, we can show information about this area.
04:56So let's go ahead and do that.
04:59Um, it'll pull up the bounds.
05:04It'll give us our area status.
05:07So in this case, it tells me I am the owner.
05:10I think if we run over to Todd and we run that, it'll pull up Todd's information.
05:15And potentially who he shared it with.
05:20Area status.
05:21Owned by Todd.
05:22Players with access.
05:23Nathan S21.
05:24Hey Todd, thanks for being a buddy and sharing with me.
05:28You're too kind.
05:30It does tell you your vertical space.
05:32Now I don't know if vertical space has any bearing on your initial height of when you...
05:37No, it wouldn't because it's a grid based.
05:39So it's just based off of something.
05:41I don't really know what.
05:42Um, area radar, of course, we've already looked at.
05:46But we'll pull it up again.
05:48Anyways.
05:49So there's our area radar.
05:51Uh, then we have area share or unshare.
05:56And then player name.
05:59Uh, player doesn't have access to the area anywhere.
06:01So I guess I need to go ahead and do an area share Todd.
06:06Boom.
06:07Todd now has access to this area.
06:09Todd, I hope you appreciate my goodwill.
06:12Now there's another thing which we can do.
06:17Which is interesting.
06:19We can do area share all Todd.
06:24Todd now has access to every single one of my areas.
06:28Um, this would be good, I guess, if you were playing with a friend and you were like,
06:32you know, it's getting really boring to have to constantly share my area with you.
06:38Um, I assume any future areas will not be shared with Todd.
06:45But let's go find out.
06:46Here's an area that I don't yet own, but now I do.
06:51What does it say?
06:52Oh.
06:54So Todd just automatically gets access to all of my areas as soon as I protect them.
07:00Okay.
07:01Well, uh, I guess never mind my previous statement.
07:04But now what if I come back over here and I do area unshare Todd.
07:13What do you mean?
07:14What do you mean?
07:14In a what?
07:16Area not claimed yet.
07:19Oh, was I just out of the edge of it?
07:23Come on, really?
07:25Alright, so we're going to do area unshare Todd.
07:30Todd no longer has access to this area.
07:35Um, okay, okay.
07:38I'm just going to pull that up on Todd's end.
07:41Okay, well, I'm getting conflicting answers.
07:45Because according to Todd's minimap, he still has access to this area.
07:51And according to my information, he doesn't.
07:54So I'm a little confused there, but whatever.
07:56We will continue on.
07:58Now we have list claim area, which I don't really understand fully.
08:02So we're going to go ahead and just do area, list, and then Todd.
08:08Listing all areas of Todd, amount 1.
08:09Oh, so it just gives coordinates.
08:11Okay, I was curious.
08:12Because, like, you don't have a way to name areas.
08:15You just, you have areas or you don't have the area.
08:19There's no name to it.
08:19But it's just giving coordinates of it.
08:22So that makes sense.
08:24Um, now because I do have some server privileges here, um, I can delete all of Todd's areas.
08:31This would be useful if you had somebody who was no longer playing on the server because they got banned.
08:36And, well, there's no reason for their areas to be tied up if they're no longer available to play on
08:41the server.
08:42Um, or if a player had just stopped playing on a server, but then you run the risk of the
08:46player coming back and their areas no longer being theirs.
08:48Um, and that's kind of a, an admin discretion kind of thing.
08:52Um, of course we can also unclaim areas.
08:54Now I do wonder if I get, uh, my claim stick back.
08:57No, I don't.
08:59Oops, uh, helps if I spell correctly, I guess.
09:03Oh, okay.
09:04So when you unclaim an area, you do get the protection stick.
09:07What is this thing actually called?
09:08Claim stick.
09:09You do get it back, which is nice.
09:11Um, it is worth noting.
09:13Family stack 10.
09:14I'm assuming the chest stack 99.
09:16It sure looks that way.
09:20So, that, that's good to know.
09:25And, uh, let's see.
09:26What else is there to know?
09:27I think that's, I think that's it.
09:31Uh, I guess it's based off of, like, Land Rush or something.
09:33I don't, I don't know what that is.
09:35So I can't really speak too much on how faithfully it is based off of that.
09:40But, there you go.
09:42Simple protection.
09:43Of course, if you're playing in single player, this doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to use.
09:46But if you're running a server, be it public or private,
09:51it is a nice little utility mod, I would call it,
09:56to handle and manage protections.
10:01That's going to wrap this one up.
10:02If you're interested in the mod, it is on the content database.
10:04You can just search for simple protection in the in-game content browser and find it.
10:08Or if you want to go old school and, you know, get the normal links and everything,
10:12you can do that from my website, which will be linked down in the video description below.
10:17I just had it verified that the chest looks perfectly normal.
10:19And it does, so we're good there.
10:21Alright, that's going to wrap this one up.
10:23Thanks for watching.
10:24Tune back soon.
10:25And I will see you then.
