A tall woman who claims to be over 7 feet talks about the impact it has on her dating life and other challenges she faces on a daily basis.
Maddy Warner works as a part-time retailer in Herndon, Virginia, USA.
Very early in her life, she had to come to terms with the fact that she stood out from her classmates and friends. She says that when she was a pre-teen, she was already 5'8 and would be eye-to-eye with teachers.
She also adds that people always double-take and are shocked when they initially see her, something she has come to appreciate and even enjoy.
Maddy said: “People can be pretty cruel, and they sometimes comment on my body like it's public. It’s something I struggle with every day.
“It is tough to blend in; sometimes, I just want to grab groceries without someone asking if I played basketball.”
Lots of things are harder for her than the average woman, she explains that showering and travelling are particularly challenging.
However, her biggest challenge is her dating life. She believes most men are intimidated by her or are just in awe.
But she also thinks her height adds to her finding the right men, since she often goes out with men who are confident in themselves and treat her right.
Maddy shared: “Dating is tricky for me; guys either get intimidated or say something weird before even saying hi.
“When I tell someone on a dating app my actual height, they always say they can handle it.
“Then, I show up, and suddenly, the confidence from the app is nowhere to be found.
“I love being over 7’, but the dating app experience is truly a comedy show that never gets cancelled
“The height also filters people out really fast. People with true confidence are the ones who stick.
“Confidence is attractive, both ways.”
Talking about the pros and cons of being this tall, she said: “Shoe shopping for me is a nightmare; finding clothes that fit is basically impossible.
“But the best part, when attending a concert, I never miss anything. The worst part, though, was never really blending in.”
