00:00In Bolivia, opposition to Rodrigo Paz's government continues to grow as social organizations reject a sectoral agreement with the government
00:08and announce new protests.
00:11Precisely, the Department of the Federation of Rural Education Teachers of La Paz rejected the agreement signed between the government
00:18and urban educators and announced that they will continue their pressure measures, demanding wage increases.
00:26Also, the Unified Trade Union Federation of Rural Workers of the province of Omasuyos and the Women's Federation instructed the
00:3439 agricultural unions to protest this Monday, May 18th, in Plaza Baiban, in the face of the executive branch's threats
00:41of repression.
00:42This follows President Rodrigo Paz's hardening of his rhetoric as the anti-blockade measures ordered by the executive branch have
00:49resulted in arrests of at least 57 people.
00:52In his regard, Paz has renewed threats to imprison those who attempt, in his words, to destroy democracy.
01:04In this context, indigenous communities from El Chapare have set up a security cordon around former President Evo Morales' residents
01:12in the area to provide him with protection after the leader denounced a joint plan by the United States and
01:18the government of Rodrigo Paz to arrest or assassinate him.
01:21The community is mobilized to protect their leader amid escalating tensions.
01:26Evo supporters have been maintaining roadblocks for 15 days now, demanding President Paz's resignation and a solution to the economic
01:34crisis.
01:41And Colombian President Gustavo Petro commented on the political crisis in Bolivia and offered his government's mediation to find a
01:50peaceful solution.
01:51Through his social media accounts, Colombian President Gustavo Petro issued the following message.
01:59Bolivia is experiencing a popular uprising.
02:02It is a response to geopolitical arrogance.
02:04Latin America is a diverse and distinct civilization.
02:07It cannot be homogenized by any part of the world.
02:11Latin America and the Caribbean must be heard by the world.
02:15Looking ahead in peace and speaking frankly.
02:18My government is willing, if invited, to seek peaceful solutions to the Bolivian political crisis.
02:24He continues, there should be no political prisoners anywhere in the Americas.
02:30We must build a deep, multicolored democracy in our civilization, which has roots stretching back 60,000 years in the
02:38Americas, but also comes from the ancient Mediterranean, Black Africa and the deserts of Sahara.
02:44Legend had it that the American Jaguar would awaken if the Condor were attacked.
02:49And the Jaguar has awakened in the popular consciousness.
03:03And in response, former Bolivian President Evo Morales expressed his gratitude for the support of the Colombian head of state,
03:11in light of the complex political situation facing the Indian nation.
03:16Through a post on his ex-account Morales stated,
03:20President Gustavo Petro, thank you for understanding the true situation Bolivia is facing and for not buying into the false
03:27narrative that is being spread.
03:28Thank you for defending Latin America's sovereignty in the face of imperialist arrogance and for your offer to support the
03:36search for peaceful solutions in my homeland.
03:47Former Bolivian President Evo Morales complained to the United Nations and the International Court of Human Rights that far-right
03:57administration of Rodrigo Paz is using foreign platforms and technology to spy on citizens who hold different opinions to the
04:06government.
04:07On his social media account, former Bolivian President Evo Morales said,
04:12I am reporting to the United Nations Human Rights and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights that the Bolivian
04:20government of Rodrigo Paz is using foreign platforms and technology to spy and denounce Bolivians who think differently and are
04:29protesting to demand a just and sovereign Bolivia.
04:32This illegal method appears to be the same one used by Nazis who encouraged people to report and identify Jews
04:39so that they could then exterminate them.
04:49And the United States offered its support to the Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz in a blatant disregard for the ongoing
04:57popular uprisings, thereby intervening once again in Bolivia's internal affairs.
05:02The Trump administration, through a statement on social media, condemned the social protests, describing them as a humanitarian crisis in
05:11a clear attempt to criminalize legitimate protests.
05:14Israel and Javier Millet joined these imperialist stands along with countries aligned with Washington, such as Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador,
05:23Honduras, Panama and Peru, which signed a document to uphold Bolivia's constitutional order while ignoring the demands of the protesting
05:32people.
