00:00The Aaron Rodgers saga is over for the offseason, as he is signing a one-year deal worth up to
00:07$25 million.
00:09It's a base salary, according to Schefter, between 22 and 23.
00:16The deal still needs to be finalized and signed, but there it is.
00:20Mike McCarthy has Aaron Rodgers back.
00:23I finally told him he was pretty enough.
00:25And he heard it enough times how beautiful he was and how special he was.
00:30He's like, all right, now I can come back and now I can play football.
00:33And that's Aaron Rodgers every offseason.
00:36He wants you to woo him and flirt with him all offseason, and then he'll return to play football.
00:42But, all right, good luck, Pittsburgh.
00:44I can't imagine this is anything but a bad thing for you at this point, if you're one of the
00:48developed quarterbacks.
00:49Because let those guys just get out there.
00:51Let them figure it out.
00:52Sitting behind Rodgers isn't going to do anything.
00:54Most people try to break through a glass ceiling.
00:59The Steelers embrace it.
01:01Yeah.
01:02They're like, no, no, no, this is nice glass.
01:03This is tempered.
01:04Yeah.
01:05We're not breaking this glass.
01:07We're going to go up to it and not anywhere beyond it.
01:10And we want to be able to touch it.
01:12We don't want to.
01:13They are so scared.
01:15They are so scared of 4 and 13.
01:20So petrified.
01:21They're more scared.
01:22It's like they're afraid of exposing their fans because they're all the great, gritty Pittsburgh fans.
01:28Oh, they might not show up over 5 and 12.
01:30No, but they are.
01:32But they don't want to win 13 games either.
01:33That's not blue collar enough.
01:34They're more scared of going 4 and 13 than they are.
01:40It's blue collar enough.
01:40Yeah, they really.
01:41They're more scared of going 4 and 13 than they have desire to go 13 and 4.
01:45Hmm.
01:46You know, it's.
01:47Sure.
01:47It's the Maverick treadmill post 2011 title.
01:50It's like they've got their.
01:52They've got their nice safe vehicle.
01:55Right.
01:55It's not a, it's not a, it's not a, it's not a, it's not a Rolls Royce.
01:59Not a Peyton Mustang.
02:00Right.
02:01Uh, it's not.
02:01It's.
02:02It's.
02:03Yeah.
02:03But they're in a rally sport like Peyton is not a super sport.
02:06It's a rally sport.
02:07You know, they've got a nice safe vehicle and they're not going to try to get a Rolls
02:12Royce if it means risking going into a Yugo.
02:17Peyton has no idea what that is.
02:18They have finished below 500 four times in my lifetime.
02:22That's it.
02:23And the worst.
02:24But they get all the praise for it.
02:26Yeah.
02:26The worst record they had is six and 10.
02:28Denver had this for years.
02:29Right.
02:30And they didn't go below 500 for years.
02:32Right.
02:32Now with John Owen.
02:33They won a couple of Super Bowls during that stretch.
02:36So, I mean, it's not even just like, like, I mean, they managed to be, all right, we're
02:39competitive and we've also won Super Bowls and we've appeared in some.
02:41So, I mean, it's not, I don't want to make it sound like Pittsburgh has just been
02:46some laughable organization.
02:47They're not.
02:47Like, what they do is impressive, but it is also a little bit of like, just take a
02:53bath one year and reset and figure it out.
02:57Don't hold on to 42, 43-year-old Aaron Rodgers who they're throwing up the
03:01highlight right here of him struggling to reach the pylon and outrun the 330-pound
03:05Ravens defensive tackle.
03:07Are you going to watch these quarterbacks on Netflix?
03:09Season 3 premieres on July 14th.
03:13It is going to feature Jaden Daniels and his mama.
03:18Joe Flacco, Baker Mayfield, and Cam Ward.
03:23That's just one that I care about.
03:25That's Baker.
03:26Baker's perfect for that show.
03:28That's the exact type of person, exact type of personality you want.
03:32I have no interest in seeing, because this is always, it's like reflective, right?
03:36Like, it's so, it's from stuff last year.
03:38So, Flacco is...
03:40It'll show Baker in his house watching the final regular season game and the whole setup
03:44in there and how, you know, a quarterback watches like a regular fan.
03:48So, Flacco's pretty uninteresting to me.
03:51Cam Ward, I guess this will be...
03:54I don't know anything about him.
03:54That's exactly it.
03:55It could be good to teach us about Cam Ward, because right now I just, I don't know anything
03:59about him to where I would think he's interesting.
04:01I do want to learn more about him.
04:03I do want to watch a little bit for Cam.
04:05And Daniels is just, okay, we get to see him banged up and hurt.
04:09I was trying to think about, like, I would have loved to have seen this be Drake May for
04:13next year.
04:14I want Drake May.
04:16He's boring.
04:17His wife's like a baker.
04:18Hell no.
04:19I'm not watching for Drake May.
04:20I'm watching for all of the, what little, like, Easter eggs can I find of, like, oh,
04:24look, that's Diana Rossini's hair tie in the locker over there.
04:28She was around here.
04:29Her husband apparently went out to dinner.
04:30I would...
04:31That was a stage photo shoot.
04:32Was he allowed to sit at the table, or was he a little off-center?
04:37You're at the Gino Ariama table.
04:39So, I...
04:40Not that Gino's into that.
04:41I'm just...
04:41Whoa.
04:42Wow.
04:43Where did Gino come from?
04:44I always say that Gino's not allowed at the big kid's coach's table.
04:47Oh.
04:48When he walks in the bar, he's got to sit at the other table.
04:50Yeah, he does.
04:50Do you think we could get, for the next one, again, next year, could we get Aaron Rodgers?
04:57Since Rodgers is going out...
04:58I mean, he already did a Netflix.
04:59I know.
05:00And so, like, I'm thinking, I would actually be fascinated to watch him and McCarthy's reunion.
05:05Oh, yeah.
05:05Like, behind the scenes to see how they interact with each other and do those sort of
05:09different things.
05:10They probably won't talk.
05:11Rodgers is going to do his own thing.
05:13I'd love to see him.
05:15This is why...
05:16I'd love to see Mike asking Aaron, Aaron, what's the game plan this week?
05:19How many, like, you know, when he's not at Billy Bob's, how many throwing programs has
05:25Dak done in the Dak yard or whatever, you know, with his receivers to this point?
05:30A lot.
05:31Probably a couple this off-season.
05:32Probably several this off-season.
05:33Aaron Rodgers has been...
05:34He talked about it at the home run derby.
05:36He said he and Pickens have already been working together.
05:37Rodgers has been sitting there on a beach in Costa Rica, you know, ripping ayahuasca.
05:44Yeah.
05:45So there it is.
05:46He's back.
05:47Yay.
05:48For the Pittsburgh Steelers fan base.
05:50I do have odds on Week 1 starters for these different teams.
05:55Ooh.
05:56This will be interesting for the Dallas Cowboys.
05:59As we always lose to this team.
06:02Arizona's Week 1 starter will be...
06:04Jacoby Brissett.
06:05Good job, Bobby.
06:07Minus 400 at 1-4.
06:09The other options are Gardner, Minshew, and old Carson Beck.
06:13Just get Carson Beck on the field because he's been talking some smack since being drafted.
06:17Carson...
06:18And all those ESPN College Game Day analysts who were in love with covering him, they're
06:23like, physically, I mean, I don't know that there's anyone better.
06:26Like, you just watch.
06:27Carson Beck, he's going to be the guy.
06:28All these little kiss-asses for the bigger programs like Kirby Smart and Miami.
06:33He will be the first quarterback to start this year from this class.
06:38Ooh.
06:39Okay.
06:39It's not going to be Fernando.
06:42It's not going to be Aller unless there's an injury.
06:44Right.
06:45Okay.
06:46And who else is in this class?
06:47Oh, Nussmeyer.
06:48I mean, who's more likely to get hurt?
06:49Nussmeyer's in KC.
06:51Mm-hmm.
06:52Which Mahomes is not going to be ready.
06:53Who's their backup?
06:54Is it Nussmeyer?
06:55Yeah, they got Fields.
06:56Okay.
06:57Yeah, Justin Fields.
06:58All right.
06:59Fields might start.
07:00Now, he's going to start.
07:01Palmer's not going to start.
07:02Sorry, not Palmer.
07:04Beck's not going to start the year.
07:05Are you confusing him with Carson Palmer?
07:07Yeah, I did.
07:08He's in Arizona, too, right?
07:09He's already overselling Carson Beck.
07:11He's going to have Carson Palmer.
07:12No, I just think that he's 30 years old, man.
07:15He's probably the most ready.
07:16The guy's seen more snaps than Justin Fields has.
07:18He looks like Beavis.
07:20Or, no, Butthead is the one he looks like.
07:22Atlanta Falcons, week one starter.
07:24This is a good one.
07:26Uh, Tua.
07:28God, I forgot he's there.
07:30Uh, yeah, I'll go Tua.
07:32Tua is the slight favorite.
07:34I would go Penix, but Tua, two to three odds.
07:37Oh, Penix's safer.
07:39Huh?
07:39Tua, like, Tua's, like, safer-ish.
07:43You know, like Penix.
07:43You have to find out about Penix.
07:45You do.
07:45I agree.
07:46I totally agree.
07:47I'd start Penix just for that reason, but Tua, I get, as a coach, you go,
07:51well, this guy's going to give us a better chance to win tonight.
07:53He's safe up until he gets sacked.
07:55Yeah.
07:55Cleveland!
07:57Deshaun Watson.
08:00Yeah, Deshaun.
08:01Deshaun, much to Deion's dismay, one to two, minus 200, Shador, three to two,
08:08then Dylan Gabriel, 33 to one, Taylor Green, Taylin Green, 75 to one.
08:14Oh, boy.
08:15I'm rooting for Watson to come out and ball out.
08:19Really?
08:19Yep.
08:20Just for the crazy story of it.
08:21That would be a crazy story.
08:22Not because of him.
08:24Not because of, you know, any passions that I share with him.
08:29Which would be better for the NFL, if Watson came out and balled out,
08:33or if Shador won the job and he did?
08:35Oh, Shador.
08:36Better for the NFL.
08:37Superstar.
08:38Better for the NFL in the story and the talking points.
08:41So that's the favorite in Vegas bet online for the Browns.
08:45Chiefs week one.
08:47Fields.
08:48Mahomes is minus 800.
08:50I would bet on Fields.
08:52Fields is five to one.
08:53Did he get hurt in November?
08:55Mm-hmm.
08:56December?
08:57Yeah, he was late in the year.
08:58Put down $20 on Fields.
09:01Yeah.
09:01To win 100.
09:03Any other quarterback, 10 to one.
09:04And then Raiders, Cousins is minus 250.
09:09Mendoza is two to one.
09:11So obviously the only, I don't know who their other quarterback is.
09:14The only option would be if Cousins get hurt and then Fernando's thrown in there.
09:18December 14th was when Mendoza got hurt.
09:21Oh, there's no way.
09:23There it is.
09:24Bet it.
09:24So that's a pretty quick turnaround.
09:27All right.
09:29ESPN spoke, Jeremy Fowler, to coaches, executives, scouts.
09:33Well.
09:33And they were predicting the upcoming season with different topics.
09:38For the Cowboys, we covered this last Friday in Rockwall.
09:41George Pickens' future.
09:43The Bengals put questions of Joe Burrow's future to rest.
09:47Teams jockeying for position in a strong quarterback draft class.
09:52Eagles will face a decision about Jalen Hurts' future.
09:56Yeah, the Hurts stuff was, there were a few different angles on that one that I thought were interesting.
10:03So the first thing is talking about how, man, he's already putting in work with his receivers.
10:08He's a message received, guys.
10:11He understands where he is missing.
10:13It sounds, at least from the way it's being written here.
10:15As open as he's ever been to play action and under center work.
10:20The way it's being positioned in this article, at least, is, hey, the rose-colored glasses are off for Jalen
10:28Hurts.
10:28He has gotten his awakening that you guys wanted.
10:31And he realizes, you know what, I need to change and I need to be better.
10:35And so that's great.
10:38Fine.
10:38Sure.
10:39Whatever.
10:39I'm sure you have gotten the message that you're not doing enough.
10:42Because everybody's been criticizing you and you're driving out A.J. Brown now.
10:47But the thing that's funny here, to me, was the, he was talking about the split that evaluators have on
10:54Jalen Hurts.
10:55And he's like, some are like, ah, you know, throw him out.
10:59You got to get rid of him.
11:00But he said, there are some evaluators who still see Hurts as a top 12 quarterback.
11:06Which is such a weirdly specific grouping.
11:10And generally, you'd say, on this end, there's this.
11:13And on this end, there's some evaluators that still see him very positively.
11:15So it's like, okay, whoa, whoa, whoa.
11:16So his max right now, in the eyes of people across the NFL, is there are a few people who
11:23say, yeah, he's not top 10.
11:25Maybe just outside of it.
11:27That is the highest praise you can come up for from other evaluators across the league.
11:32That sounds like the entire league is pretty much out on Hurts.
11:34AFC executive, quote, polarizing player and his running ability starts to decline.
11:39His value will decline, too.
11:41Howie will always be proactive with finding solutions.
11:44He has $22 million in 2027 guarantees.
11:48So they'd take a $3 million cap hit if he's traded before June 1.
11:52They'd save $21 million on that year's cap if he's dealt after June 1.
11:58Quote, the guarantees make it like a Kyler situation where Philly would have to facilitate a trade.
12:05The flip side, he can force their hand on a new deal if he thrives.
12:08The current one runs through 2028, NFC executive, a personnel evaluator.
12:13I think he's going to play well.
12:14He's had so many different coordinators over the years.
12:16He'll be able to adapt to the changes.
12:18And if the running game returns to form, Hurts throws it well over the top.
12:22This is one of those you actually kind of root that he has a decent year.
12:27No, you don't.
12:28For the long term that they have to re-sign him.
12:33The way you look at the NFL, every team's going to win every four years.
12:38They're going to keep recycling.
12:39That's the way the NFL works.
12:41They kind of manufacture it so every team is going to win their division or make the playoffs every four
12:46or five years.
12:47Well, that's going to happen anyway.
12:49Get it out of the way.
12:50Let him play well.
12:51Let him sign for $60 million a year or $70 million, which he's not worth.
12:57Not even close.
12:58And then they're cooked.
13:00They're done.
13:01Yeah, are we going to get the punishment here going to be that Philly has an awful year and we're
13:06going to just not even be focused on it?
13:08We're going to be like, it's great.
13:09Philly's awful.
13:09And then they're going to be able to get out from under Hurts and then they're going to be up
13:12near the top of the draft in one of the quarterback's glasses.
13:15Oh, yeah.
13:16We found the replacement.
13:17No big deal.
13:18If we are still doing this show together in four or five years, we're going to be in Nashville for
13:25Super Bowl 2030.
13:28Nashville is the host city.
13:29All right.
13:29You know, you build a stadium, you get a Super Bowl.
13:32That's kind of the way it is.
13:34Minnesota got one.
13:35I can't imagine Buffalo's going to get one, though.
13:38That's where they're going to stay in Toronto.
13:39Yeah.
13:40There's not enough hotels.
13:41They went to Jacksonville.
13:42They did go to Jacksonville.
13:43Oh, no.
13:44But Jacksonville is like, obviously, it's in Florida.
13:47Jacksonville.
13:48Which you would think in January is much better.
13:50Jacksonville hotel situation is pretty bad.
13:52Oh, I mean, they were staying on cruise ships.
13:54Yeah.
13:55They didn't have enough hotels.
13:56They had to bring in cruise ships to stay.
13:57They can stay in igloos.
13:58They'll be fine.
13:58Yeah, there you go.
13:59But Nashville is a great city.
14:02It is, you know, it's going to be cold.
14:04It's going to be chilly there.
14:05It's going to be very chilly.
14:07But it's exciting.
14:08There's your Morgan Weiland halftime show.
14:10There's your Morgan Weiland halftime show.
