00:00Is this the last dance, the final showdown, the last season, the last hurrah for future
00:05Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers?
00:08According to him, yeah it is.
00:10But how should we as a fan view his retirement and overall legacy going into the new NFL
00:16season?
00:17Rodgers confirmed that this was going to be his final year to pin live beat writer Nick
00:23Faribault.
00:24And he also said that there was some doubt in his mind on if he would come back or not
00:29but he loved his time in Pittsburgh last year.
00:32And he also added that he had a lot of conversations about it but after the NFL draft he concluded
00:38he wanted to return.
00:40Now it is a complicated legacy to celebrate but that depends on who you ask.
00:46On the field, the greatness is undeniable.
00:49Four MVP awards, a Super Bowl ring, and a Super Bowl MVP.
00:53He's actually the only quarterback in NFL history with over 400 touchdown passes and a
00:59career passer rating above 100.
01:02He also led the NFL six times in touchdown to interception ratio and six times in lowest
01:08passing interception percentage.
01:11That's not just a resume y'all.
01:13That's a monument.
01:14But on the other hand, these last, what, three to four years of his career have been somewhat
01:20average.
01:21His time with the Jets marks the first time in his entire career, dating back to high
01:26school, that he failed to help a team reach the postseason at least once during his tenure.
01:32And the Jets did everything they could to accommodate him when they traded for him in 2023.
01:38They hired his friend as an OC, signed his former teammates, and that still didn't work.
01:43So the question here in New York lingers is, or was, that Green Bay's roster carried him
01:51a little bit more than anyone admitted.
01:53Last season with Pittsburgh, he threw for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions,
02:00leading the Steelers to the AFC North title.
02:03So still functional, still competitive, still capable of winning a division.
02:08But we could all see that father time had kicked in, and that wasn't the Rodgers of 2011, nor
02:142020.
02:15Now, he signed a one-year deal weeks ago to remain in Pittsburgh, but by the time the
02:202026 NFL season starts, Aaron Rodgers would be the eighth-oldest quarterback to ever appear
02:27in an NFL game.
02:28But here's something I want everyone to keep an eye on, on this retirement tour.
02:33The Steelers actually play against the Green Bay Packers this season.
02:37His former home for 18 years.
02:40So that game alone is going to write itself as a script.
02:44But all in all, no matter what you think about him and his antics off the field, we all get
02:50a chance to watch the last dance of one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
