00:00of course the big news on thursday afternoon that we broke down for you here on a friday morning
00:05on the early line was aaron rogers signing with the pittsburgh steelers and one of donnie's main
00:10questions was not exactly how this changes things for the steelers does it make them a conference
00:16contender but what would the financials be behind this maneuver and would that make sense for
00:22pittsburgh as well well on saturday drs we got our answer steelers quarterback aaron rogers
00:29was in the team's training facility to sign his one year 13.65 million dollar contract that includes
00:3710 mil guaranteed and has a max value of 19.5 million dollars the deal includes 5.85 million
00:45worth of play time and team performance incentives so there you go drs that is the structure of the
00:52one-year deal for aaron rogers in the steel city what do you make of it i like it i like it a lot
00:58here and if you say okay how did you get that 20 million understand this what it probably means
01:02first team all pro nfl mvp and super bowl champions you probably get all of that that would equate to
01:08the steelers probably happy to pay him 75 million if he was able to do that but i like that because
01:12it shows that you you didn't break the bank and it was a one-year deal which caught me off guard a
01:17little bit because that says you know what that that doesn't sound like ben that's a one-year 38
01:20million dollar contract but you can't do that in the nfl you got to spread those years out over this
01:25you say if you signed a three-year deal like wow he really went for the money because even if he
01:28only plays one year you spread the cap it's over year two and year three so it's not that bad if
01:32he retires you have to cut him but the fact that it's a one-year deal and all encompassing this
01:37season which is great because now you can say if he's playing really well maybe open up the books a
01:42little bit and extend that into the next two to three years even lower that cap bit more give him a
01:45little bit more money thank you for this and we might be able to play until you're 42 43 or 44 years old
01:51but also from a standpoint of what other quarterbacks are making in the nfl and i know
01:55it's wrong to do this but guys like brock party purdy signing 50 plus million per year and i got aaron
02:01rogers at 13 million dollars a year i'm not comparing the bet i'm not saying the two different
02:05situations there in san francisco and pittsburgh are different but i'm just trying to use that
02:09leverage by saying there's a lot of quarterbacks making five times the amount that he is making
02:15maybe you are getting aaron rogers on a bargain i like to see it do i think it's going to turn
02:19into a super bowl nope do i think they'll be competitive absolutely but i like the fact that
02:23this wasn't like ha ha steelers i told you i would come back but you know what i told you 15 million
02:28it's 30 million now and they'd be like we don't have anywhere else to go but sign you for 30 million
02:33you got us oh well we'll see how it turns out i like the fact that it was very manageable that's a
02:38plus sign for the steelers
02:39you
02:40you
