02:25but kept gaining, and by the time I got my GED when I was 18,
02:29I was almost 500 pounds.
02:32And the dreams I had for the future were being crusher in my weight.
02:39Unfortunately, college didn't go as I had hoped.
02:42At 20, my weight started getting really bad that I had to stop going classes
02:45because I couldn't get up the hill because I had reached around 450 then,
02:48and that led to me having to drop out.
02:50And that was pretty hard for me because I felt like I was giving up on my future.
02:56So all I was doing then was sitting around my apartment eating,
03:00and that's how my life was until I met Michael.
03:02My friends didn't convince me to go out one night,
03:04and he was a friend of a friend who went with us.
03:07But at first, I didn't pay any attention to him.
03:09And I hadn't had a serious relationship with my life
03:12because I didn't want to end up like my mom and my dad.
03:14But as I got to know Michael, he was different than most guys.
03:17And we started going out.
03:20I believe she was the one, the first time I saw her,
03:24we clicked right there.
03:27So it wasn't much of her size that I was worrying about.
03:31It was more of who she was personally.
03:34We just fell in love together.
03:37So within a year of dating, Michael asked me to marry him.
03:40And I told him, yes, and getting ready for my wedding
03:42was the only time in my life I lost any weight.
03:49But it didn't last as long as I had hoped.
03:51Because less than a year after we got married,
03:54I got pregnant with my first child
03:55and gained a lot during that pregnancy.
03:57I would eat like two or three pizzas a day for nine months straight.
04:01That's why I gained so much weight.
04:04So by the time I had Michael Jr. when I was 23,
04:07I put back on almost 100 pounds
04:09and was just at the 500 pounds then.
04:11But six months after I had Michael Jr.,
04:13I got pregnant with my second child.
04:17And by the time I had my daughter, Royal, when I was 25,
04:20I was around 540.
04:22And the cycle continued with my pregnancy with Treasure.
04:25And when I had her when I was 27,
04:27I was close to 600.
04:29And that's when I started to lose my mobility too.
04:32When I was 29,
04:33me, Michael, and the kids had to move back home with my mom
04:36so she could help take care of me.
04:38And Carlton had made the same decision to move back with our mom
04:41because of how big he was getting too.
04:45that got to a point where I could hardly do anything anymore.
04:49So I had to move back home with my mom.
04:52And in this room, I have stayed.
04:56The only thing I was happy about with the situation and moving back
05:00was that I was with my sister again.
05:02And now, we don't even really see each other
05:04since she stays on her floor and I'm on mine.
05:07I don't go out and do anything or see anyone except online.
05:10I actually have been talking to someone online for the past year.
05:14Her name is Monica,
05:15but I've never been able to even meet her
05:17because I can't go out.
05:18And I've been scared to ask her to come here and see me like this.
05:22So I feel like I'm missing life completely
05:24and it's all because of food.
05:28I'm going to need y'all to start giving me the stuff from up there
05:31so we can sit it on the bed.

05:38Me and Carlton have decided to try and get help from Dr. Nell.
05:42And we're hoping that he'll take us on his patience
05:44and let us do his weight loss program.
05:47But we know if he does that,
05:49we're going to have to be in Houston a lot.
05:52So we talked it all over as a family
05:54and decided if we're going to really try to do this,
05:56we just have to be all in.
05:58And we need to move to Houston.
06:01This trip will be rough, to say the least, with my body.
06:04And I'm expecting to be in pain and sore.
06:08But it's the only chance we have to live
06:11and to reverse the damage we've made to our bodies.
06:14So no matter what it takes or how scary it's going to be,
06:17this is just something that me and Chantal have to do
06:20if we want better lives.
06:21But there is one thing in all this
06:23that I am happy and excited about.
06:25I was messaging Monica and telling her
06:27I'm doing this move and leaving Ohio.
06:29And that I'm sad we have never been able to meet
06:31because I think I have a lot of feelings for her.
06:34And she told me that she does too.
06:36And she said she didn't want to lose me.
06:39But as we talked more, she told me
06:41she wants to go with me to Houston
06:42and help me do this.
06:44And that made my heart skip a beat.
06:46With all of us hoping to leave today,
06:48Monica's coming over with her stuff.
06:49so we can meet for the first time
06:51and then go with me to Houston.
06:54But she was supposed to already be here.
06:57And the more I think about this,
06:59the more I get honestly pessimistic
07:02about how our first meeting is going to be.
07:07And so this could be devastating to me
07:09because I think I have fallen in love with her
07:11or talking online with her.
07:13So if this doesn't go well,
07:14it's going to be hard for me to take.
07:17Especially on top of the stress
07:19of this whole move and going to Houston.

08:36And meeting Monica for the first time a day
08:38couldn't have gone better.
08:40It's just a fantastic feeling
08:42of finally being able to hold her.
08:43And having a person I love with me
08:45in my life to do this with
08:46makes a huge difference for me.
08:49So I feel like this just kind of affirms
08:51that this move and this whole change
08:52which I feel like I've been able to struggle with you once again.

08:56and it turns out to be wonderful,

08:57and I can hardly wait and see if it's perfect.
