00:06So the main drivers behind starting bio living is that globally there's a rapid
00:10urbanization happening so between now and 2050 an extra 2.5 billion people are
00:15moving to cities and we're seeing this this tendency happening closer to home
00:20as well in Europe and especially in Antwerp between now and 2030 an extra
00:2540,000 people are looking to move within the ring of Antwerp and because of this
00:30the demand for compact affordable living spaces is on the rise
00:49SAM is a smart adaptive module it's a prefabricated system of cabinets that
00:55when stitched together house all the utilities as well as the appliances
01:00for a apartment for a home our ideal customer are project developers that are
01:06developing compact urban living spaces the product developer and their architect we
01:12design and configure the optimal SAM for their project within our own
01:17configurator to fit it into a wide range of different apartment shapes and sizes by
01:22clicking on the element we can change the function of the cabinet and that way we
01:26can very quickly design the SAM still provides the same level of
01:29functionality as the traditional way of building a more affordable product to
01:34save them at least 30% on the installation of their utilities in this
01:3925 square meter apartment we placed 10 SAM modules so we placed it in an L shape so
01:47that you have two different spaces within within the flat when you walk into the
01:53hallway you have a line of cabinets on one side the first one is a technical
01:57cabinet where we've had the boiler and the switchboard and in the last two
02:02cabinets is a fully functional wardrobe and as you walk out of the hallway you
02:08turn a corner and you walk into the living sleeping space the other side of this
02:15wardrobe is where we place the TV and the rollout table it can be equally used as
02:21a dining table or a desk in the cabinet where the TV is located on the back we
02:28have placed the modem for internet connection there is a fold-out sofa bed so
02:36during the day it moves away and it's a sofa and you can use it to watch
02:39television for example and in the evening you can very easily just fold out the
02:43bed
02:47so we've kept the kitchen quite compact it's it's three units wide you have a
02:53fully functional dishwasher and a sink as well as storage space on top a sizable
03:00pantry cabinet on to the right of the kitchen as well so you have a half a
03:06cooker so a small cooker so above the kitchen we've also placed the extraction
03:09of the ventilation
03:15and just to the left we've placed the fridge and attached to the Sam unit we've
03:22also integrated in a bathroom so even though it's quite a small apartment we
03:29try to make the bathroom as spacious as possible so all the toilet and the sink
03:35in the shower is very much on one side of the room so you do have enough space to
03:39walk around in the bathroom
03:44and above the toilet there is a somewhat limited space to store extra toiletries
03:49below the ventilation unit the client decided to opt out of having a laundry
03:55cabinet in this space as there will be one in the in the building downstairs
04:02so none of the piping or wiring for the apartment is actually embedded in the
04:06floors or the walls of the building so that makes it much more easy to change it
04:11up after X amount of years or remove the Sam entirely and put in a new Sam so
04:16that it has service a completely different purpose it also makes it an
04:21optimal solution for building in a circular way and that's actually what the
04:25Sam system does
