00:00We thought it might be a long year for another team,
00:02and that's the St. Louis Cardinals.
00:04Now Scott Rowland was a Philadelphia Philly.
00:06He said, you know what?
00:06I don't really like this organization.
00:08I want to go to baseball heaven, which is St. Louis.
00:11And over the years, that's been an absolute quality franchise
00:14from ownership all the way down through to the minor league system.
00:17Falling on a little bit of hard times
00:19and not a lot of expectations coming into the season.
00:21But as we just talked about the Milwaukee Brewers, 26 and 17.
00:27You take a look here.
00:28How about this?
00:29It's 27 and 18, the St. Louis Cardinals here on the season.
00:32Baseball heaven, is it back here?
00:34Craig, the beginning of the season, hey kids,
00:36just come to the ballpark, pay 20 bucks,
00:38get all the food you can eat
00:40because we don't know if our baseball team
00:41is going to be all that competitive.
00:43Oh, they've been competitive, Craig.
00:44And they're at the top of the standings in the Central.
00:46How about the rebirth of baseball heaven,
00:48those St. Louis Cardinals?
00:50This is easily my biggest misfire of the season.
00:52If the Twins were a fire,
00:54I can't believe how well the Cardinals have played
00:58and their management.
01:00And Heimbloom, Donnie, would never in an interview say
01:03that this is not what we want,
01:05but this is not what they expected.
01:07I would tell you that.
01:08The Cardinals traded basically everyone they had
01:12in the offseason.
01:13And anybody else would get traded at the deadline this season.
01:16Now, all of a sudden,
01:17they have to kind of pivot and go the other way.
01:20Look, I'll just plant the flag and say I was,
01:23I'm going to stick with what I thought,
01:25that the Cardinals were a sub-500 team,
01:26but they have been a huge, huge surprise to me.
01:30And I guess sometimes players, Donnie,
01:32you can't count them out.
01:33You know, Jordan Walker was a player
01:35that you thought was on the edge
01:36of just not being with the organization anymore.
01:38He spent all these years not playing well.
01:40Now, all of a sudden, he is.
01:41So credit to them.
01:43And I don't know.
01:44Can they get away with trading Gorman
01:46and Brolls and Donnie at the deadline
01:47and trading some of the...
01:48I don't know that they can right now.
01:50They probably have to push toward the division.
01:52They never thought this would be the case.
