00:26When this shameless woman who forged checks from a dead man's account returned for sentencing,
00:31the judge followed through on his warning and sent her to prison.
00:33Case number is 24-CR-42112, 25-CR-42654, the state of Ohio v. Julie Strickland.
00:40Ms. Strickland before the court with counsel.
00:42We're here for sentencing and a final probation violation hearing.
00:45I know you've had a chance to be aware of Ms. Strickland's record.
00:48It is not an exaggeration to say she's a lifelong thief.
00:51She is someone who, frankly, has taken advantage of people and relationships to her benefit
00:58and only her benefit for many, many years.
01:00She then perpetrates a fraud on this court, claiming that she has cancer
01:04and used that false diagnosis to her benefit a number of times regarding this case.
01:09And so I think that Ms. Strickland has shown that she is never going to change,
01:13and the only option for her is to be sent to prison so she cannot be in the community harming
01:18other people.
01:19Ms. Strickland has provided me with medical documentation where she has been present with
01:23and met with a pain clinic several times over the last two years.
01:27For pain management, I would just, at this time, request a minimum sentence.
01:31Ms. Strickland, is there anything you'd like to say?
01:32I'm sorry for the stuff I've done from the past and future, and I'm reaching out for help.
01:38Ms. Strickland, you started your criminal offenses back in 1990 down in Kentucky.
01:441990, this is 2026. That's 36 years of you stealing from people.
01:50Have you ever had something stolen from you?
01:52Yes.
01:52Not a good feeling, is it?
01:53It's bad.
01:54Especially when you steal from people that are your family, friends, and people that have placed trust in you.
02:02You turn around and steal from them. Horrible feeling.
02:04It really causes people to just distrust their neighbor more and more.
02:08This is pretty disgusting.
02:09And quite frankly, you did this last one with the stealing the checks and stuff.
02:13I guess it happened just before I sentenced you.
02:15So while you're awaiting sentencing on this one felony theft case, you go and do it again to multiple people.
02:22It's pretty aggravating.
02:23So the other thing I want to mention is not only do you steal from people, but you lie to
02:26people.
02:27You make up this whole thing about this cancer and you're dying and you're trying to gain sympathy from people.
02:31And apparently it works because people fall for it.
02:34Under case number 42112, the court is going to order you to serve nine months in prison.
02:39Under case number 42654, the court is going to order you to serve 12 months in prison.
02:45Count one will be served consecutive to your sentence.
02:48In case number 42112, the court does find the consecutive sentences necessary to punish you.
02:53And your criminal history demonstrates that a consecutive sentence is necessary to protect the public.
