00:00First of all, I'm honored to be performing alongside Madonna and BTS.
00:05I think that this is going to be completely different than the Super Bowl experience,
00:08which, by the way, was incredible for me.
00:14The dream of this started four years ago at the last World Cup,
00:18when Chris called me and said that it would be incredible if we could
00:22work together with FIFA to create the first ever halftime show for the World Cup final.
00:27And really, the process that went into curating
00:31how it could come together was focused on the value of unity.
00:35We said at a time when the world can feel so divided, we wanted to have a moment
00:39where if you look down on planet Earth and you saw this halftime show,
00:44you would feel this incredible spirit of unity, that actually people of all nations,
00:49of all backgrounds would come together and demonstrate that there are things
00:53that are bigger than all of us. And that thing in this context is children's education.
00:57It's something that Shakira believes in and has dedicated her whole career to.
01:01It's something that we at Global Citizen believe passionately,
01:05that education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.
01:09And so with those values set, we said, which artists are passionate about that?
01:14And so obviously, because Shakira has so long demonstrated her commitment to education,
01:19but she's also demonstrated over her entire career her love for football.
01:24She's the most extraordinary artist to co-headline the first ever World Cup final alongside Madonna,
01:30who also said, I'm equally passionate about education, and BTS, who responded immediately
01:35when given the opportunity.
01:36This time we're going to be combining the passion for football and music for a good cause.
01:43That is, I think, the main difference, right?
01:47The fact that every artist is there on that stage that night.
01:51It's going to be giving this event a different meaning because it has a purpose.
01:58And the purpose is to bring the attention to the importance of investing in education.
02:03And I really hope that that really is what steals the show that night.
02:09And I can tell you that last night's BTS' fans, ever since we announced it,
02:14they've already, the ARMY, have already raised over $10,000 just like that,
02:19just by getting online and fundraising.
02:22Haven't, we didn't even ask them to do so.
02:24The ARMY are so amazing.
02:25It's a great pride to represent my country, to represent Latinos,
02:29and to be there, to give a voice to many children who don't have visibility,
02:35who, unfortunately, are outside of the educational system,
02:38who don't have access to a quality education.
02:40To be able to give my voice to those who don't have it,
02:43on a platform so important as this will be,
02:46in which we're going to use this global event,
02:49this event that brings a lot of people from all parts of the world,
02:53as a platform to give education that importance,
02:57because really we're in a moment in which the world is divided,
03:01is fractured,
03:02the algorithms manipulate the reactions of one, the reactions of the other,
03:07and it's a moment in which we need to all be united,
03:10and what better idea than to be united behind a cause
03:13so important as it is to bring opportunities to children.
03:17No we have to forget that every athlete we're going to see there
03:21at giving life to their country,
03:23one of them were children who fought and had to fight,
03:27because they have to pass challenges,
03:29but they didn't give up,
03:30because they had to do with someone, I think.
03:33And that's what we have to do as a society as a society,
03:35and believe in our children,
03:37that we can create important changes in our world,
