00:03Director Matt Reeves took to X to officially confirm that Scarlett Johansson is joining the
00:08highly anticipated sequel. Reeves shared a gif of Johansson from under the skin,
00:13captioning the post, quote, Next exit, Gotham. Welcome. He did not reveal the details about
00:19who she will be playing. The Hollywood Reporter previously reported back in December that the
00:23Oscar-nominated actress was in final negotiations to join the DC Studios project opposite Robert
00:29Pattinson's Batman. Johansson was expected to begin work on the film after wrapping production on
00:35The Exorcist, and she isn't the only Marvel veteran heading to Gotham. Reeves later confirmed that
00:40Sebastian Stan has also joined the cast, posting another gif alongside the message in a Gotham
00:45state of mind. Welcome. THR previously reported that the Thunderbolt star was being eyed to play
00:51Harvey Dent. The two actors famously shared the screen together in Marvel's Avengers films,
00:55where Johansson portrayed Black Widow and Stan played Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier.
01:01Also joining the sequel is Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance, who is set to portray Harvey Dent's
01:07father. Then later Thursday, Reeves teased two more surprise additions to the ensemble cast,
01:12though he has not yet revealed which characters they'll be playing. Reeves returns to direct The
01:18Batman Part II after the first film earned more than $772 million worldwide following its 2022 release.
01:26He co-wrote the screenplay with Mattson Tomlin. And production is officially underway. Reeves recently
01:31confirmed on Instagram that filming has begun on the sequel, which is currently set to hit theaters
