00:10Welcome to WatchMojo and today we're counting down the top 10 easiest ways to make one million
00:16dollars as a WatchMojo fan. All right now that I've got your attention we're counting down 10
00:20video games where it was all a lie. Let's do it. Soma. That's everything. You can climb into the
00:26pilot seat now. Already? I have everything under control. Soma is one of those games that quietly
00:31pulls the rug out from under you without you even realizing it. At first it feels like a standard
00:35sci-fi horror setup. Something's you went wrong, you're trying to survive and maybe fix a generator
00:40or two along the way. But as the story unfolds it slowly becomes clear that your understanding of
00:45yourself has been completely wrong. The big reveal doesn't come from a single twist but from the
00:49realization that every transfer isn't you moving forward it's just a copy leaving the original
00:55behind. By the end when Simon is left alone in the dark while another version of him reaches
00:59paradise it hits hard. It's not just a twist it's a backstabbing against your own back. A front
01:05stabbing? Why was he still talking? That's how it works. You know that. What do you mean? You know it's
01:10not magic. You were copied. The sleeping Simon in the seat was copied and now you are here just like
01:15Simon lived on in Toronto.
01:17Super Mario Bros 2
01:46Super Mario Bros 2
01:48Everything from the bosses to the world itself wasn't actually happening. It's a much lighter version of the twist compared
01:54to other entries on this list but just when I thought Mario's compadres were tougher than I thought, Mario starts
02:00snoring.
02:04The Dark Pictures Anthology Little Hope
02:06Keep a lookout for the girl. We have to stop her. Pretty sure she'll be back real soon.
02:12This is an entry that keeps things feeling like a classic horror story for most of the game. Stranded characters,
02:18creepy fog, a town full of weird witchy vibes. You're making choices, trying to keep people alive and figure out
02:24what's actually going on.
02:25But then the ending flips everything. It turns out that the group you've been controlling isn't real at all. They're
02:31all just versions of one person.
02:33Will Poulter's character was the bus driver the whole time and also the lone survivor of the house fire shown
02:40at the start. Everything you're experiencing was basically a hallucination tied to his trauma.
02:46Who'd have thought this game would use the same twist as Super Mario Bros 2 but 32 years later?
02:55Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty
02:56But we have our own plans to carry out.
02:59If you want one of the most mind-bending examples of this kind of twist, look no further than Metal
03:04Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty because it does it but then keeps unpacking the narrative in ways we don't
03:10even have time to go into.
03:11You go in thinking you're playing a straightforward sequel, even expecting to follow Solid Snake the whole way through.
03:17Instead, the game pulls a switch and puts you in control of Raiden but this wasn't even the major plot
03:21lie.
03:21By the end, it's revealed that everything, the mission, the enemies, even parts of the story were carefully controlled as
03:28part of a massive simulation.
03:30The goal wasn't just to complete a mission, but to recreate the events of the first game and test how
03:35information can shape people.
03:37It's not just that things were a lie, it's that the entire gameplay experience was designed to manipulate you, the
03:42player, from the start.
03:43If I ever get my hands on Kojima, I won't know whether to shake his hand or punch him in
03:47the belly.
03:48And the appearance of the ninja as well.
03:53As for the president, although Johnson realized what was going on, he played out his allotted part.
04:01Call of Duty Black Ops.
04:03We're out of time!
04:04We can't give up now.
04:05He was at Borkuda.
04:06He knows how to translate the codes.
04:08He's heard the broadcasts which we know contain the location.
04:11Call of Duty Black Ops feels like a standard military shooter at first, but as the story goes on, things
04:17start to feel off.
04:18It's one of those moments that fans of Fight Club and The Sixth Sense have been trained to look out
04:23for.
04:23How come my character is the only person who talks to this one particular character?
04:27The big twist flips everything.
04:29It turns out a lot of what you've been playing through isn't happening the way you think.
04:32The protagonist Mason's memories have been manipulated and key events like an assassination you were sure you carried out weren't
04:38actually happening as you thought.
04:40Instead, you were programmed to believe it.
04:43The numbers, the voices, the flashbacks, they're all part of that conditioning.
04:47Then you maybe kill JFK.
04:49I'm not quite sure.
04:50My jaw was still on the floor.
04:51You have!
04:54We are brothers, Mason.
04:57We are disabled.
04:59Shadow of the Colossus.
05:07The plot of Shadow of the Colossus feels so simple at the start that you never really question what you're
05:11doing.
05:12Wanda just wants to bring Mono back.
05:14And Dormund tells him exactly how.
05:16Kill the Colossi.
05:17Restore her life.
05:18Easy enough.
05:19And honestly, most players go along with it without thinking twice.
05:22After all, they are giant monsters.
05:24But as you take down each Colossus, something starts to feel off.
05:28Something starts to feel almost sad.
05:29But it makes sense, right?
05:31Anything's going to look weak and vulnerable while it's dying.
05:33They're still evil.
05:35Right?
05:36Wanda looks worse every time.
05:38Weaker.
05:38More drained.
05:39And then the truth is revealed.
05:41The Colossi weren't enemies.
05:43They were seals.
05:45Magical seals.
05:46Not like aquarium seals.
05:47By killing them, you've been slowly freeing Dormund the whole time.
05:51What felt like a heroic quest turns out to be kind of the exact opposite.
05:54And by the time you realize it, you're already being turned into a demon.
06:06Prey.
06:14Prey wasted no time messing with your head.
06:17It starts off normal enough with you waking up as Morgan Yu, getting ready for work and
06:21taking a helicopter ride to what seems like a regular job.
06:23Sure, the tests you're doing feel a bit strange.
06:26But nothing too crazy at first.
06:28Then everything breaks.
06:29After an attack and a sudden reset, you wake up back in your apartment.
06:33Except now, something's clearly wrong.
06:36The turning point is when you smash the window to escape, expecting the outside, but instead
06:40end up inside a lab.
06:42Arcane Studios flips the entire setup on you early, revealing that your normal life was
06:46just part of an experiment you helped create.
06:49Self burn.
06:50Nice.
06:57Spec Ops The Lion.
07:10It's a shame doing this list, because these twists are so infamous that I feel like I'm
07:14telling people twists they already know, but I would pay $5,000 right now to watch someone
07:19experience Spec Ops The Lion for the first time.
07:22The plot centers around Captain Martin Walker and his mission to find Colonel John Conrad.
07:26Walker starts doing worse and worse things, and the game kind of forces you to sit with
07:30those decisions.
07:32The bigger feel is that Conrad, the guy you're trying to find, is already dead, and has been
07:37dead the whole time.
07:38The voice, the orders, the person you've been chasing, it's all in Walker's head.
07:42He made it up to avoid blaming himself.
07:45That's what makes it so hard.
07:47It's not some external villain pulling strings, it's you.
07:50Moving.
07:50Walker, snap out of it.
07:52I get it.
07:53We have to choose.
07:54The truth, Walker, is that you're here because you wanted to feel like something you're not.
07:59Silent Hill 2.
08:01When will you ever stop making that mistake?
08:06Mary's dead.
08:07You killed her.
08:08Silent Hill 2 doesn't just have a twist, it redefines everything you thought was going
08:12on.
08:13You start as James, just a regular guy following a letter from his dead wife, which is already
08:17weird enough.
08:18The town is full of fog, monsters, and people who seem like horse girls on crack.
08:23Nothing quite makes sense, but you keep pushing forward, thinking there's going to be an answer
08:27waiting.
08:27Which there is, just not the answer you wanted.
08:30A videotape confirms the truth in the worst way.
08:33Mary didn't die, James killed her.
08:35Not out of rage or anger, but because he couldn't handle watching her suffer.
08:40Suddenly, everything clicks.
08:41The monsters, the town, the constant misery, it's all tied to his guilt of a selfish death.
08:47A death that his wife wasn't even asking for.
08:50You know, a murder.
08:51You didn't want to die.
08:57The truth is, I hated you.
09:00I wanted you out of the way.

09:18Bioshock
09:28Bioshock pulls one of the smartest twists in gaming by hiding it in plain sight the whole
09:33time.
09:34You crash, find Rapture, and immediately start taking orders from a guy named Atlas.
09:38He tells you where to go, what to do, how everything works, where the bathroom is, how
09:41to wipe your butt, and you just follow along without really questioning it.
09:45Then, you finally meet Andrew Ryan, and everything falls apart.
09:49That phrase Atlas keeps using, would you kindly, wasn't just him being polite, it was a trigger.
09:55Jack's been programmed to obey no matter what, and obey it he does, putting a golf club straight
10:00through Andrew Ryan's noggin.
