00:01The World Bank says less than 5% of women worldwide live in economies that provide anything close to full
00:08legal equality.
00:10And not a single country has secured all the legal rights needed for women's full economic participation.
00:16Women's rights and economic inclusion were among the main issues discussed at the Second Asian Women's Forum in Bukhara,
00:22which brought together representatives from more than 20 countries, international organizations and UN agencies.
00:29In a message to participants, Uzbek President Shabkat Mirziyov said the country had climbed 43 places in the World Bank's
00:37Women, Business and Zillow Index this year, reaching 48 among 190 economies.
00:43Participants also focused on gender equality in a region with rapidly growing young populations.
00:48There is only one way to transform the youth pulse into opportunity.
00:54It's to ensure that we have the proper population data, just like Uzbekistan did for their general census.
01:01Because when you know where the young people are, you can build the right infrastructure, education system, health system, to
01:08ensure that they can benefit from it.
01:10In a region navigating rapid social and economic transformation, the forum in Bukhara framed the women as central to sustainable
01:17growth itself.
01:19And for Pakistan, it was also a chance to position itself as a platform for regional dialogue on gender and
01:25development.
01:26The forum also addressed women's leadership, access to education and health care, and policy reforms aimed at expanding economic participation
01:35across Asia.
