00:01Massive football moments don't come around very often here in the West Midlands,
00:05so you can understand why many people want to be part of the atmosphere,
00:09particularly when they're not able to travel.
00:12Bergham City Council is being urged to look at a public screening
00:16for Aston Villa's Europa League final against Freiburg in Eastern Ball.
00:21The call has come after Villa reached the final with a 4-1 aggregate win over Nottingham Forest.
00:27Councillor Alex Yip says the city should begin preparations for a suitable and accessible location
00:33so supporters can watch together in a safe setting.
00:37He says it would be an historic occasion not just for the club but for Bergham itself.
00:43Aston Villa's European Cup win in 1982 remains one of the city's proudest sporting moments.
00:50Another European final will put the club and the city back in the international spotlight.
00:55Supporters backing the idea say a public screening would help fans who cannot afford
00:59or are unable to travel abroad.
01:02They say it could bring extra footfall into the city centre,
01:06support local businesses and create a family-friendly celebration.
01:10But any event would need careful planning.
01:12The council would have to consider crowd safety, stewarding, transport, policing,
01:17licensing costs and broadcast rights.
01:19It would also need a site big enough to manage demands safely.
01:23No screening has been confirmed and the council has not announced a final decision.
