A tourist from China has been permanently banned from Thailand after kicking and forcing his way through an automated passport control gate at Suvarnabhumi Airport on May 13.

Liwei Zheng grew frustrated when the e-gate failed to respond, damaging the glass gate and pushing through without completing immigration clearance.

00:01A Chinese tourist is now permanently banned from Thailand
00:04after a violent outburst at one of Bangkok's busiest airports.
00:08It started at the outbound immigration area of Suvanabhumi Airport on the 13th of May,
00:14when the man grew frustrated while using an automated border control gate.
00:18When the system failed to respond, the man kicked the glass gate twice,
00:22then forced his way through the checkpoint without completing immigration clearance.
00:29Immigration officers moved in to detain him but the suspect allegedly shouted abuse at officers
00:34and attempted to assault them before airport security stepped in to restrain him.
00:38He was charged with property damage and insulting officials on duty.
00:42The damaged gate is estimated to have caused losses of around 450,000 baht or roughly 57,000 ringgit.
00:49Thailand's Immigration Bureau has since revoked his visa and placed him on the immigration blacklist,
00:54flagged as a threat to society.
00:56He will be deported once legal proceedings are complete
00:59and permanently barred from ever entering Thailand again.
