A babysitter has been charged at a Magistrate's Court in Petaling Jaya with the murder of a seven-month-old boy who died at a nursery in Bandar Kinrara, earlier this month.

Balqish Mohammad Dzyhan, 28, shook her head to signal she understood the charge after it was read out before Magistrate Farah Azura Mohd Saad on Thursday (May 14).

00:31Balkish allegedly murdered baby Muhammad Aydan Fahim, Muhammad Noor Shafiq, at a nursery in
00:36Kinrara Commercial Unit at 10.40 in the morning on the 5th of May. The charge is brought under
00:42Section 302 of the Penal Code, which, upon conviction, carries the death penalty, or a
00:48jail term of between 30 and 40 years, along with a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane. No bail

00:54offered to Balkish, and the court set the 14th of July as the date for the submission of forensic,
01:00chemical, and post-mortem reports. The prosecution is led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Ainul Athira
01:07Jamalulayal. The accused is represented by lawyer Datuk Suraj Singh. Also present during proceedings
