00:10Last night, Kyiv's skies were not dark. They were lit up by drones, by missiles, by the longest,
00:17most sustained aerial barrage the Ukrainian capital has faced in four years of war.
00:23This wasn't a raid. This was an onslaught. Over 670 attack drones, 56 missiles, ballistic,
00:32aeroballistic, and crews. And that was just the overnight wave. Since the previous midnight,
00:39Russia had launched more than 1,560 drones against Ukrainian cities and communities.
00:45Air alerts across the country lasted for hours. For the people of Kyiv, there was no sleep last night.
00:53On the ground, footage of rubble, emergency lights, rescue workers. In one Kyiv neighborhood,
00:59a nine-story residential apartment building took a direct hit. An entire section collapsed. Rescue
01:06teams moved in immediately, pulling survivors from the rubble through the night. Dozens have been
01:12rescued. At least one person has been killed. And as of this report, people may still be trapped
01:18beneath the debris. Across the capital, damage was reported at 20 separate locations. Ordinary
01:25apartment blocks, a school, a veterinary clinic. Beyond Kyiv, energy infrastructure in Kriminchuda,
01:32port and residential areas in Shornomorsk on the Black Sea coast. Zelensky called on international
01:38partners not to stay silent and renewed his appeal for the Pearl Air Defense Initiative, specifically designed
01:45to counter the ballistic missile threat Ukraine is now facing at scale. This attack fits a pattern
01:52that's hardened throughout 2026. Massed cheap Shahhead-type drones used alongside sophisticated
01:59ballistic missiles. The idea being to exhaust and overwhelm Ukrainian air defenses before the more
02:06lethal strikes arrive. Ukrainian defenses intercepted many of the incoming threats. But at this scale,
02:13interception is never total. And the debris alone from downed drones causes casualties and damage
02:20across wide areas. Rescue operations in Kyiv are still ongoing. Casualty figures are expected to rise.
