00:07A Chinese supertanker has just sailed straight through one of the world's most dangerous waterways.
00:15Right past the tension, right past the warships, and right through President Donald Trump's naval pressure campaign in the Strait
00:24of Hormuz.
00:25Tonight, a major geopolitical signal is emerging from the Persian Gulf.
00:31Because as Trump lands in Beijing for a high-stakes summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping,
00:38a Chinese-owned oil tanker has successfully crossed the Hormuz chokepoint,
00:44carrying nearly two million barrels of Middle Eastern crude oil.
00:49The vessel, the Yuan Hua Hu, is a massive, very large crude carrier, or VLCC, operated by a Chinese shipping
01:00company.
01:01According to ship tracking data, the supertanker passed Iran's Laric Island before entering the Gulf of Oman without incident.
01:10That may sound routine, but in today's geopolitical climate, it is anything but.
01:17Because the Strait of Hormuz has become the center of one of the most dangerous standoffs on Earth.
01:24Since the escalation of the Iran conflict earlier this year, Iran effectively restricted passage through the Strait,
01:33while the United States imposed a counter-blockade targeting vessels linked to Iranian trade.
01:40American naval forces have intercepted, diverted, and warned multiple ships in recent months,
01:47and attacks on tankers, including Chinese-linked vessels, have already rattled global shipping markets.
01:55Yet despite those dangers, the Yuan Hua Hu sailed through safely.
02:01No interceptions, no drone attacks, no missile threats.
02:06And the timing could not be more sensitive.
02:10Because the tankers' transit happened just as Trump arrived in Beijing for face-to-face talks with Xi Jinping,
02:17Trump was welcomed with military ceremony, flag displays, and a brass band performance before beginning what he called a very
02:28exciting trip.
02:29Before departing Washington, Trump told reporters he planned to hold a long talk with Xi about Iran,
02:38though he insisted, quote, I don't think we need any help.
02:42But the optics are striking.
02:45While Washington pressures Iran through naval force, China appears determined to protect its energy lifelines and keep oil flowing.
02:55Beijing remains one of the largest buyers of Middle Eastern crude, including oil moving near Iranian-controlled waters.
03:04And any prolonged disruption in Hormuz directly threatens China's economy.
03:10Oil markets are watching closely.
03:13Nearly 20% of the world's oil trade normally passes through Hormuz.
03:19And every successful transit helps calm fears of a full-scale global energy shock.
03:26For now, the Yuan Hua Hu made it through safely.
03:30But the bigger geopolitical message may only be just beginning.
03:35Because tonight, as Trump and Xi prepare to meet,
03:39one Chinese tanker has already delivered a powerful statement in the waters of the Persian Gulf.
