Transcript
00:00Memorial Day, the unofficial start of summer, right around the corner.
00:03Holiday travel this year is going to be busier, some say, than ever.
00:08Some are anticipating a record 45 million Americans expected to travel for the holiday
00:12between Thursday, May 21st, and Monday, May 25th.
00:16That's the estimate there from the experts at Triple Day.
00:19They say nearly 40 million will hit the road.
00:21That's more than 3.5 billion expected to fly as well.
00:25Despite higher gas prices, travel demand does remain strong.
00:28We recently spoke with travel expert Nick Ewan from The Points Guy about what drivers
00:33can do to manage those costs this Memorial Day.
00:36Obviously, gas prices are a huge concern right now with how much they have risen.
00:40So you really want to do everything you can to try to minimize those costs, sign up for
00:45gas loyalty programs, try to take advantage of any credit card offers that you have for
00:50either bonus points, bonus cash back, or extra discounts.
00:53So really explore all of those options and just pack your patience because we do, even
00:59in the wake of some of these increased prices for both flights and gas in your cars, we still
01:04do expect to have a lot of people hitting the roads and taking to the skies this Memorial
01:08Day weekend.
01:10So as more people get ready for holiday travels, not just gas prices to think about, temperature
01:15can also impact your vehicle's performance, especially for electric and hybrid cars.
