00:03When I started at university it was September 2019 and I'd got offered the place at Derby
00:14from an audition day and I needed somewhere to live as well and the idea of living in halls,
00:22accommodation as well as this exciting new course I was doing. It just seemed the right and the right
00:31thing to do and I thought it would be a real good experience as well to live in and go
00:37into a
00:38different city as well. To live with students younger than myself has been interesting, I've
00:45made lots of friends. Age shouldn't come into it, it doesn't matter what age you are and I've made
00:53lots of friends. I have been an advisor, a guide for them at times, they've come to me with their
00:58problems and I've talked about the course, the work, encouraged them. At my age I do like to be
01:09proactive and encouraging the younger ones and helping them get the most out of their degree.
01:16Before I became a student I was running a cleaning business which I did for about ten years. It
01:24wasn't a vocation, it wasn't what I wanted to do in my heart, it was a business. Although I learnt
01:32a lot
01:33about business, I don't regret it. But it wasn't what I really wanted to do in my heart and the
01:41degree
01:41I'm doing now is something that goes back to when I was little. It was something I wanted to do
01:49at a
01:49very young age. I wanted to do what I'm studying now which makes it so much more enjoyable. If anyone
01:58wanted to go back to university at any stage in their life, it doesn't matter what age you are,
02:04age is immaterial. Just go back and just do it and build your confidence up. It's great for your
02:12confidence. Education is empowerment, it helps you become more knowledgeable about the world. If you
02:19want to go and study something, it shouldn't matter what your age is. Education is for all.
