00:00A lunatic gunman in Massachusetts took to the streets of Cambridge on Monday brandishing a
00:04rifle and shooting bullets at cars indiscriminately, critically injuring two people. That's bad
00:10enough, but what makes this whole thing so much worse is it's a crime all too familiar for serial
00:14criminal Tyler Brown. Brown was out on the streets Monday because of a sweetheart plea deal from
00:20years ago handed down by Judge Janet Sanders. I'm sure I don't need to tell you, but people are not
00:25pleased with Judge Sanders right now. Back in 2021, Brown pled guilty to the same charge he's
00:31facing now, armed assault with intent to murder for firing 14 rounds at Boston police officers,
00:36including firing at close range at one officer's chest. Prosecutors recommended 12 years in prison
00:43and five years of probation, but Judge Sanders went easy on him instead, sentencing him to five to six
00:48years with just three years of probation. Oh, and at the time of that sentencing, Brown was already
00:54on probation for a 2014 assault conviction. One of the officers involved in the 2020 attack told
01:00reporters at the time, quote, I am a firm believer that when Mr. Tyler Brown gets out, he will hurt
01:05or worse, kill someone. Brown got out of prison in January, and here we are again, as predicted.
