00:00First thing I want to talk to you about is child trust funds.
00:02There are some who are missing out on thousands of pounds.
00:05HMRCA is currently writing to 21-year-olds, only 21-year-olds,
00:08about 750,000 of them, about unclaimed child trust funds.
00:12These were the predecessor to junior ISAs,
00:14and the state put money in for you.
00:17You could add on top, people could add on top,
00:19but so everyone who has one has some money in it
00:21if they haven't taken it out.
00:23The letter will tell you where your child trust fund is,
00:26so then you can go and contact that provider.
00:29Just be careful of scams. Don't use details on there.
00:32Go and find the provider's details yourself,
00:33and be careful of emails, calls and texts.
00:35This is a letter. The average amount, two grand.
00:39But it varies vastly depending on if the money was added by parents
00:44and whether you saved or invested,
00:46because invested over a long period outperforms savings.
00:48It's the whole point of this show.
00:50But if you were born between the 1st of September 2002,
00:53so you're 15, to the 2nd of January 2011,
00:55and you haven't accessed your child trust fund,
00:57you do not need to wait. You can find yours now.
00:59Go on to gov.uk. It's find a child trust fund tool.
01:03If you're under 16, your parent has to do it.
01:05If you're over 18 or older, you have to do it.
01:07If you're 16 to 18, either your parent or you can go
01:10and use the tool and find it.
