Global observers expect Trump's China visit to boost stability, cooperation
Transcript
00:13Honestly, the biggest trading partners in the world are China and the United States.
00:17And the fact is, we can't ignore that.
00:20We need to be working together in some way, partnership, but in an honest, I think, in
00:26a direct way so that we can continue to build our economies and continue to bring some prosperity
00:35to the world, but also in particular to our countries.
00:43There's no question that any time you get the U.S. president and the Chinese president
00:48together, it's good news.
00:51We the global community need more of that.
00:53The reason that I think it's particularly important now goes back to that whole idea
00:58again of the U.S. has really set up a very unstable international situation.
01:04Right now, the world is looking for a successful visit and President Trump can be sure to deliver
01:10that if he wants to.
01:19I mean, I just sense a real sincere desire to see the relationship between China and
01:27the U.S. at a governmental level and also at a business level to see that improving.
01:33I think there is this recognition that we are better together.
01:37That's sort of a saying that we like to use, but I think it's very appropriate in this
01:42case that if we can work together, recognizing there are going to be these differences, but
01:48if we can work together, we'll both be better off.
02:00We are certainly appreciative of the efforts by the two governments to deal with their outstanding
02:07issues through dialogue and we encourage them to keep up with the track of dialogue in order
02:13to resolve any differences that they may have.
02:16The United States and China are two of the main economic powerhouses of the world and any
02:24way that they can deal with any of their differences in economic policies would be beneficial for
02:30the world as a whole.
02:33So I think that it's very good.
02:36We are now living in a world where most countries are interconnected with each other economically.
02:42This means that the price of conflict, even economic conflict, is much higher than it used
02:47to be in the past.
02:49So indeed, the fact that we are still seeing each other despite certain disagreements is
02:54also related to the fact that we are interconnected and we should recognize that.
03:03Between President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump is quite important because one, it demonstrates
03:12that the two leaders take the relationship between the US and China seriously and they are committed
03:20to making it work not only for them as countries but for the world at large.
03:26From a Global South perspective, China and the US are the anchor of the global economy.
03:33They control more than 40% of the global GDP and the decisions they make have serious replications
03:40on countries like South Africa and the project Global South.
03:44So they will be watching and hoping for a positive outcome from these talks.
03:49And, of course, I will clips.
03:51We are looking for the first thing that is not on the global level.
03:52So let's see some of the talks.
03:53We arerire and all of the talks about the facts and the facts.
03:55We are seeing some of the talks when this talks will last.
03:55We will see how many of the talks can be very complicated.
03:55We are looking for you.
03:56Right.
