As the Federal Budget was handed down, Northern Territory politicians continued to debate of the CLP’s budget in parliament. MP Tanzil Rahman doubling down on his criticism of the public service as the Government again rules out cuts to the Northern Territory’s largest employer.

00:33Tonight legislation reforming the territory's gambling and racing industries will return
00:38for debate.
00:39The bill has not been changed despite the Parliamentary Scrutiny Committee making 11 recommendations,
00:46including stronger conflict of interest rules at the online gambling regulator.
00:51We understand that that is something that they are looking forward to seeing, but it's
00:56not part of the legislation as such.
00:57The legislation really establishes Racing NT, which forms part of the review that I did
01:03into the sustainable and growing industry that we're looking for in the Northern Territory.
01:07It's basically a bill that rearranges the furniture.
01:10It's not a bill that actually addresses the real issues around gambling here in the Northern
01:14Territory, around the issues that people come to us with concerns about.
01:18A bill changing the NT's child protection laws is set to be introduced tomorrow.
