Senator Lindsey Graham sparked controversy after blasting Pakistan over reports that Iranian aircraft may have been parked at Pakistani bases. Graham said he does not trust Pakistan “as far as I can throw ’em” and questioned Islamabad’s role as a mediator in the Iran crisis. 00:00Are you aware of reports that Pakistan are allowing their bases to be used to park Iranian aircraft, General Cain?
00:12Sir, I've seen one report on that.
00:15Well, is it accurate?
00:17Sir, I think based on the variety of classification matters that I've seen.
00:23Let me just say, do you agree if it is accurate, that is sort of inconsistent with it being a
00:27peace mediator?
00:29Sir, I wouldn't want to comment on that based on the ongoing negotiations in Pakistan's role.
00:34Secretary Hextus, if the mediator is allowing reconnaissance aircraft of Iran to be parked in Pakistani air bases, do you
00:44think that's consistent with being a fair mediator?
00:49Again, I wouldn't want to get in the middle of these negotiations.
00:52I want maximum efficacy for our people.
00:53Well, I do.
00:53I want to get in the middle of these negotiations.
00:55I don't trust Pakistan as far as I can throw them.
00:59If they actually do have Iranian aircraft parked in Pakistan bases to protect Iranian military assets, that tells me we
01:09should be looking maybe for somebody else to mediate.
01:12No wonder this damn thing is going nowhere.
01:15So, you know, I appreciate all you've done.
01:18I'm very supportive of it.
01:20But when it comes to Pakistan and China, enough already.
01:25A number of members of Congress have expressed our concern that Iran is receiving intelligence support from Russia to target
01:33our service members, even as we loosen sanctions on the Kremlin.
01:37Russia is making $4 billion from oil sanctions relief because we've loosened those sanctions.
01:45As has been testified to, an Iranian Shehad drone costs about $35,000.
01:51That's enough money for hundreds of thousands of drones supporting Russia's war in Ukraine.
01:56And billions for Iran to reconstitute its industrial base.
02:00So if one of the goals that's been outlined by the president as part of this war is to destroy
02:09Iran's defense industrial base, don't you think we ought to be putting more pressure on Russia and putting those sanctions
02:17back on those Russian oil ships so that they are not continuing to fund Iran in this war?
02:26Senator, we know Russia is a nefarious actor on a lot of levels and account for that.
02:31But I would say the destruction of Iran's defense industrial base has been highly effective.
02:34All evidence to the contrary.
02:36We're not accounting for that if we're giving Russia the opportunity to earn $4 billion a month, $20 billion by
02:43the end of the year if we leave those sanctions lifted for that time.
02:47And during which they can continue to fund Iran, they can continue to provide oil to China.
02:55The destruction of Iran's defense industrial base has been clear and overwhelming.
02:59Well, it's certainly not clear to me as a member of the committee because what we see is Iran still
03:04producing drones.
03:05They're still engaged in this conflict.
03:07We have not won this war despite the rhetoric.
03:09There's a difference between pulling a drone out of a cave that's been collapsed and producing more drones.
03:15That's a different thing.
03:15Well, maybe so.
03:17But if Iran still has almost 50% of their missile capacity and the ability to pull drones out of
03:23caves and still injure our allies and U.S. service members, then we have not won the war.
