00:00Welcome into Quick Pitch presented by Blue Emu. I'm Alexa Dad. We've got a big Saturday in the
00:03Major, so let's get this party started. We have 13 games ahead of them before the All-Star break,
00:08so this list is far from settled, but Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has homered in each of the first
00:12three games of the series in Baltimore, and his 26th on the season have now almost doubled his
00:18career high total. Up next, Phillies take it on. Let's take this one 4-2 and move to 5-0
00:23against
00:23the Yankees this year. Compared to last season, that's a major change since they went 1-9 with
00:28a starter ERA north of 6, and the home runs allowed? Yeah, those have been way down. Up next, the
00:348th.
00:34Ready for your trivia answer? Remember, the question was, who are the only two players to go to the All
00:39-Star
00:39game as members of both the Astros and the Tigers? Okay, so the answer is, well, just a Berlander.
00:45That was pretty easy, making it six times as a Tiger and twice as an Astro, but the other one,
00:50Rusty Staub. He made it twice as an Astro in the 60s and then as a Tiger in 1976. These
00:56teams said,
00:57let's play two Saturday. People are thinking the Marlins can't make a run this year. They already
01:01have three starting pitchers with an ERA under three. Luis Castillo has been electric in the
01:06month of June. After entering the month with an ERA north of seven, Castillo has held opponents to
01:11two earned runs or fewer in four of his five starts this month. That gives him the fourth best ERA
01:16in
01:16the National League in June. Up next, Rockies take it on. The Brewers rally late and steal a win from
01:22the Rockies. After trailing 4-3 heading into the seventh, the Brew crew put up seven unanswered
01:27runs in their final two innings with four extra base hits, including two homers from Avi Garcia and
01:32Christian Yelich. Hey, still to come, Paul Goldschmidt launched one of the great equalizer in
01:36baseball, right? You can't use the same starting pitcher every day, but the Cardinals really wish
01:40that they could because Adam Wainwright has been great this month, but everyone else,
01:43you could choose your own adjective. The other Cardinals starters are 0-11 in June with a 770 ERA.
01:50We head to Texas for the Warriors to get their second shutout win of the season with the 8-0
01:54victory. Both of those shutouts have come with Kyle Gibson on the mound. He does seven scoreless
01:59innings to lower his ERA to two. That's the lowest through a pitcher's first 15 starts of a season
02:04in club history. Time now for That's What She Said, and we celebrate Hope Week with a female
02:08empowerment story 60 years in the making. Gwen Goldman grew up a diehard Yankees fan, and in
02:141961 at 10 years old, she wrote the Yankees a letter about her dreams of becoming a Batgirl.
02:19Yankees then-General Manager Roy Hammey wrote back and said,
02:22a young lady such as yourself would feel out of place in the dugout. Wow. But 60 years later to
02:28the
02:29day of the original letter, the Yankees' current General Manager, Brian Cashman, along with Garrett Cole,
02:33reached out to Gwen and totally redeemed themselves.
02:37Gwen will be the official Batgirl for the Yankees-Angels game on Monday, and as Cashman said,
02:41women belong everywhere a man does, including the dugout. Congrats, Gwen. Give them health.
02:47Thanks for watching Quick Pitch. I'm Alexa Datt. We'll see you next time.
