00:00Iran certainly doesn't seem to want to give peace a chance. The Islamic Republic finally
00:05offered a response to the latest United States peace proposal, and like a broken record, Tehran
00:10again refused to address its nuclear program, which is, need I remind you, the biggest,
00:15most important issue for the U.S. No nuke talk, no deal, end of story. The response was sent
00:20through Pakistani mediators and focuses on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which of course
00:25is also a key part of ending hostilities. But basically, it says Iran wants to do that
00:30first, before even talking about other issues like the nuclear program and the carousel keeps
00:36turning. President Trump's reaction was swift and predictable, accusing Iran of playing games
00:41and posting, quote, I've just read the response from Iran's so-called representatives. I don't
00:45like it. Totally unacceptable. Now, on top of all that, Iran seems to be testing the fragile ceasefire
00:51again. On Sunday, a small Iranian drone set a minor fire on a ship off the coast of Qatar.
00:56The United Arab Emirates and Kuwait each reported drones entering their airspace as well. But despite
01:02this, President Trump remains committed to talks, and in order for those to happen, nukes must be
01:07on the table. Now, he focused on the nuclear issue again earlier on Sunday. The president suggested the
01:12U.S. continues to keep a close eye on all of Iran's nuclear material that is still buried in the
01:17rubble
01:17of last summer's midnight hammer attacks. The Post political reporter, Ryan King, filled me in.
01:22So the nuclear issue has been the most elusive part of negotiations with Iran, and President Trump
01:28made it clear that it remains his top priority during negotiations with the Islamic Republic.
01:34Now, there had been talk last week of getting close to a deal. There were discussions around
01:38a 14-point framework. And on Sunday, we got reports that Iran rejected a core ask to dismantle its
01:49nuclear facilities. We haven't verified those reports yet. That's what we're hearing.
01:53And President Trump had done an interview, pre-taped an interview for Sunday, where he really underscored
02:00the importance of getting Iran's nuclear material. And he was pretty adamant that the U.S. will get it
02:06one way or another. And he said that for the time being, the U.S. is monitoring Iran's nuclear sites
02:13from satellites to determine whether or not the regime is trying to go after its nuclear material
02:19that is believed to be buried deep under rubble underground. And if Iran moves for it, he will
02:25order strikes against it. And what we'll see this coming week is whether or not the Trump administration
02:30decides to re-up Project Freedom, which had been put on pause. Project Freedom was the military campaign
02:38to open up the Strait of Hormuz. They paused it shortly after implementing it because they felt
02:46that there were some signs that they could get some progress with Iran in negotiations. And now that it
02:53appears that Iran isn't fully on board with all of the Trump administration's demands, there might be
02:59pressure to potentially revisit that. And so we'll be watching that carefully this week.
