WHO chief says lax US hantavirus quarantine rules 'may have risks'

World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says more flexible rules for citizens returning from the cruise ship hit by hantavirus "may have risks."
His comments come as the United States adopts a looser approach.
"Our advice is clear, starting from May 10, 42 days [of quarantine] with active follow-up," Tedros tells reporters on the Spanish island of Tenerife.

00:04those guidelines? That may have risks, but of course we don't force them, except proposing.

00:42guidelines and based on the risk assessment, they can implement. But our guidance is very clear.
