00:00:27Evil is out there.
00:00:28I use my charm.
00:00:30I use my charm.
00:00:30I use my good looks.
00:00:32Evil walks among us.
00:00:35I just sent you a few.
00:00:36I'm like, fuck my mind.
00:00:37I'm like, you're the prey.
00:00:39I thought I was going to die, 100%.
00:00:41It's just a rave of that.
00:00:43Murder, murder.
00:00:45It's kill, kill, kill.
00:00:46I was begging her to leave him.
00:00:48Like, please get away from this man.
00:00:50He's going to kill you.
00:00:52We realized that we had a really evil monster on our hands.
00:00:56Let's do this.
00:01:18In 2018, I was 26 years old.
00:01:23and living in my first apartment by myself
00:01:27with my two dogs and my two cats
00:01:31a couple miles up the road from my parents
00:01:33so I was still close enough that I felt like I was safe
00:01:37but I was on my own finally
00:01:43I've always loved working with animals
00:01:46when I was 19 years old I started working at a zoo
00:01:51and I used to train tigers
00:01:53work with venomous snakes
00:01:56and I wrestled alligators for two years
00:01:59then I took a break from the dangerous stuff
00:02:02and got into dog grooming
00:02:06my dating life was not the best
00:02:12I have always been like a shy person
00:02:16so I don't go out and meet people
00:02:19but then I did try online dating
00:02:24I scrolled past this guy whose name was Steven
00:02:28and he was 6'5 and had dimples
00:02:31and super handsome
00:02:33and I was like oh this is obviously a catfish
00:02:37but I swiped on him
00:02:39and he replied and messaged me back
00:02:42and we agreed to go out
00:02:45he met up with me
00:02:47he was really him
00:02:48he was a real person
00:02:496'5, super handsome, nice teeth
00:02:51and I was like holy crap
00:02:53I found like the perfect man
00:02:56we hit it off like right away
00:02:58and at the end of the night
00:02:59he asked me if he could kiss me
00:03:01and I was like what is this
00:03:04this is like fairy tale stuff
00:03:07so that's where it all started
00:03:10and we just were like inseparable
00:03:14Steven was a personal trainer
00:03:17he told me that he was from North Florida
00:03:20and he was adopted
00:03:21and given to these two awesome people
00:03:25through their church
00:03:27they were nice well off people
00:03:30and he had told me that he had been in contact
00:03:32with his dad
00:03:33his biological dad
00:03:35and he seemed happy about that
00:03:39when my parents first met Steven
00:03:42they did really like him
00:03:43they thought he was super sweet
00:03:45and seemed to have a nice head on his shoulders
00:03:50and my animals really liked him
00:03:51which was a huge deal for me
00:04:03a couple weeks into dating
00:04:07he asked if I wanted to be his girlfriend
00:04:10and of course I said yes
00:04:14at the time
00:04:15Steven had been complaining about his roommate
00:04:19I trusted him and felt something for him
00:04:22so I let him move in with me
00:04:23pretty quickly
00:04:24like within the first month
00:04:26he didn't have a car
00:04:27he would borrow my car a lot
00:04:28and I only lived a couple miles
00:04:31from the park that he would go to
00:04:33so he would go and do personal training
00:04:37I believe it was
00:04:40like late September
00:04:41early October
00:04:42that we started officially dating
00:04:44I was super happy
00:04:46I thought
00:04:47this is it
00:04:48this is
00:04:48I'm going to marry this guy
00:05:00in 2018
00:05:02Wade and I matched on Plenty of Fish
00:05:05around the end of September
00:05:07the beginning of October
00:05:11I was 26 years old
00:05:14and I just moved to Loxahatchee
00:05:19when I first saw Wade
00:05:22I was like wow
00:05:23he's really attractive
00:05:26really good looking
00:05:27really tall
00:05:28and he had a nice voice
00:05:33he kept mentioning
00:05:35let's go to the park
00:05:37so we met up
00:05:39and we just sat there
00:05:41and talked
00:05:43there was a lot of joking
00:05:44a lot of laughing
00:05:47just like
00:05:47we had known each other
00:05:48for a while
00:05:51Wade said that
00:05:52he was looking for a relationship
00:05:54and
00:05:54that his only flaw
00:05:56was that he didn't have
00:05:57a good woman in his life
00:05:59I was just like
00:06:01it's too good to be true
00:06:06Wade and I were dating
00:06:08at this point
00:06:09and
00:06:09we were on the phone
00:06:11all the time
00:06:13texting
00:06:14calling
00:06:15sending pictures
00:06:16to each other
00:06:17back and forth
00:06:18but
00:06:19I worked a lot
00:06:20so
00:06:21Wade and I
00:06:21didn't really get to see each other
00:06:23in the beginning as much
00:06:25but
00:06:26I was just
00:06:27like
00:06:28over the moon ecstatic
00:06:30that I had found someone
00:06:39living with Stephen
00:06:41was great
00:06:42you know
00:06:43he would cook
00:06:44and
00:06:44he took care of me a lot
00:06:47but
00:06:48the first
00:06:49big red flag
00:06:50that I had with him
00:06:51was
00:06:52one day I came home
00:06:53from work
00:06:53and I was looking for my laptop
00:06:55to edit some photos
00:06:57and I couldn't find it
00:06:59and I looked everywhere
00:07:00and Stephen
00:07:02was like
00:07:02I don't know
00:07:03I haven't seen it
00:07:06I couldn't find it anywhere
00:07:08and
00:07:09then
00:07:09finally
00:07:10Stephen admitted
00:07:11that he
00:07:12pawned my laptop
00:07:13because he needed money
00:07:16I was just so
00:07:17mad
00:07:18that I called the police
00:07:19and I filed a police report
00:07:22the police did
00:07:24a search
00:07:24for all the pawn shops
00:07:26in the county
00:07:26they found my
00:07:28laptop
00:07:29literally
00:07:29two miles up the road
00:07:32and
00:07:32they went there
00:07:33and they verified
00:07:33that it was Stephen
00:07:34that dropped it off
00:07:37that's when I found out
00:07:38that his name was Wade
00:07:40because he used his ID
00:07:41to pawn it
00:07:42and I found out that
00:07:43Stephen was his middle name
00:07:44so that was
00:07:45a big shock to me
00:07:47because
00:07:47you know
00:07:48this whole time
00:07:48I thought his name
00:07:49was Stephen
00:07:51and I asked him about
00:07:52why he was going by Stephen
00:07:54why
00:07:55his
00:07:56dating profile
00:07:57said Stephen
00:07:58I actually found
00:07:58that he had
00:07:59several Facebook profiles
00:08:00with that name as well
00:08:01and he just said
00:08:03that he
00:08:04needed
00:08:04like an escape
00:08:06because he had
00:08:07some exes
00:08:08and stuff
00:08:08that knew his real name
00:08:09and he didn't want
00:08:10them to find him
00:08:13he was very good
00:08:14at laying it on
00:08:15thick
00:08:16like
00:08:17when you have a
00:08:17six foot five man
00:08:19crying to you
00:08:20that he's so sorry
00:08:21and he just needed
00:08:22the money
00:08:24your heart
00:08:24kind of breaks
00:08:25and you're like
00:08:26okay
00:08:26I understand
00:08:27it's like a one time thing
00:08:29it's not going to happen again
00:08:30you know
00:08:31this was one of my first
00:08:32more serious relationships
00:08:34so I
00:08:34hadn't really
00:08:35figured out
00:08:36how
00:08:36a real relationship
00:08:38should work
00:08:40and
00:08:41we had only been together
00:08:42for a couple months
00:08:43so you know
00:08:44when he apologized
00:08:45and he said
00:08:46he wouldn't do it again
00:08:46I believed him
00:08:51in November
00:08:52on Wade's Instagram
00:08:54I saw a person
00:08:56named
00:08:56Pinup Princess
00:08:58commenting
00:08:59all over his posts
00:09:01so
00:09:02I was
00:09:03you know
00:09:04asking him
00:09:05who's this girl
00:09:06why is she telling
00:09:08you to call her
00:09:09and I found out
00:09:10that
00:09:10Pinup Princess
00:09:11was Kelly
00:09:12and also
00:09:13the girl
00:09:14that was in his phone
00:09:16under Kay
00:09:18and he told me
00:09:19oh that's just
00:09:20my roommate
00:09:22and
00:09:23at that time
00:09:24I was just like
00:09:24okay
00:09:25and I believe that
00:09:31I had a friend
00:09:32that had broken up
00:09:33with her boyfriend
00:09:34and she needed to move in
00:09:35with someone temporarily
00:09:36so I let her come crash
00:09:38with me
00:09:39one day
00:09:40we were all sitting around
00:09:41talking about
00:09:42Mastiffs
00:09:43and I was like
00:09:44I know this guy
00:09:45who breeds
00:09:46this rare breed
00:09:47of Mastiff
00:09:47called a Presa Canario
00:09:48and they had
00:09:50some puppies
00:09:52I didn't know
00:09:53that he was taking that
00:09:54and running with it
00:09:55and my friend
00:09:56was only 18
00:09:58so
00:09:58I think
00:10:00that she got sucked
00:10:01into Wade's
00:10:02charisma
00:10:05I went to work
00:10:07and Wade and my friend
00:10:08apparently they went
00:10:10to the kennel
00:10:11and had stolen
00:10:13I believe
00:10:13three or four puppies
00:10:15and
00:10:16brought them back
00:10:17to my house
00:10:18I got home
00:10:21from work
00:10:22and I was like
00:10:22why are there
00:10:23these dogs
00:10:23in my house
00:10:25there's gonna be
00:10:26people looking
00:10:26for these dogs
00:10:27I was freaking out
00:10:30Wade didn't care
00:10:31he said
00:10:33we need to sell
00:10:33these dogs
00:10:35so he and my friend
00:10:36took pictures of them
00:10:37in front of my couch
00:10:40and posted them
00:10:41on Craigslist
00:10:43the man that
00:10:44owned the dogs
00:10:45recognized my house
00:10:46and called the police
00:10:53so I get a phone call
00:10:54from Wade
00:10:54and he says
00:10:55I need you to
00:10:56three-way the detective
00:10:57and tell him
00:10:58that it was you
00:10:59and if you don't
00:11:00I'm going to kill
00:11:01your dogs
00:11:04it was like
00:11:05totally out of left field
00:11:06I was like
00:11:06who are you
00:11:08like what is happening
00:11:08right now
00:11:10I wasn't 100% sure
00:11:11if he would actually
00:11:13go through
00:11:13or something like that
00:11:14but I was so afraid
00:11:14for my own animals
00:11:16that I didn't want
00:11:17to risk it
00:11:18and he was home alone
00:11:19with my dogs
00:11:20and I was at work
00:11:22so I called
00:11:23the cops
00:11:24they told me
00:11:25to walk them
00:11:25through everything
00:11:26how I stole the puppies
00:11:27what the place
00:11:28looked like
00:11:29and I did
00:11:31they told me
00:11:32I needed to
00:11:32turn myself in
00:11:33the next day
00:11:36I confronted Wade
00:11:37when I got home
00:11:39thankfully
00:11:40he didn't do anything
00:11:42to my dogs
00:11:44and he was like
00:11:45I have a criminal record
00:11:46and you don't
00:11:47so it's better
00:11:48for you to be
00:11:48on probation
00:11:49not me
00:11:51he said that
00:11:52he had just
00:11:52gone to jail
00:11:52for a couple
00:11:53petty things
00:11:54like stealing
00:11:55and stuff like that
00:11:57this is the first time
00:11:58that I heard
00:11:58that he had a record
00:11:59I had no idea
00:12:00I thought he was
00:12:01a good boy
00:12:03from Tallahassee
00:12:06the next day
00:12:08Wade and my friend
00:12:09dropped me off
00:12:10at the jail
00:12:14and I had to sit
00:12:16in a jail
00:12:16for 27 hours
00:12:20I grew up
00:12:21in Catholic school
00:12:22I am not
00:12:23a criminal
00:12:24so I was like
00:12:25sobbing the whole time
00:12:31when I got home
00:12:32they were gone
00:12:34and so was
00:12:36all of their stuff
00:12:36all of Wade's clothes
00:12:39all of her clothes
00:12:42my handgun
00:12:43I panicked
00:12:48I went to check
00:12:49my ring footage
00:12:50and what I found
00:12:52was
00:12:53the night
00:12:54that they had
00:12:55dropped me off
00:12:55at the jail
00:12:56they went back home
00:12:59and they were all
00:13:00flirty and huggy
00:13:01and kissy
00:13:01right in front of my camera
00:13:03I had evidence now
00:13:05that he was being
00:13:06unfaithful
00:13:07with my friend
00:13:11at this point
00:13:12I had
00:13:13looked up
00:13:13Wade's background
00:13:14found out
00:13:15that he was
00:13:16a felon
00:13:17he had
00:13:19several records
00:13:21of
00:13:21stealing
00:13:22weapons
00:13:23and thieving
00:13:24and breaking
00:13:25into people's homes
00:13:27and I believe
00:13:28he had a few
00:13:28drug charges
00:13:29as well
00:13:30so I told
00:13:31the police
00:13:32a felon
00:13:33stole my handgun
00:13:34which
00:13:35then put a warrant
00:13:36out for his arrest
00:13:37in the state of Florida
00:13:39so I called
00:13:40my friend's phone
00:13:40I called his phone
00:13:42they wouldn't answer me
00:13:43for several hours
00:13:44eventually they did
00:13:46and they told me
00:13:47that they were
00:13:47going to Texas
00:13:49I was very
00:13:50angry
00:13:52the police
00:13:53couldn't extradite him
00:13:54or anything like that
00:13:56so I had to somehow
00:13:57get him back to Florida
00:14:05late December
00:14:06and I get a phone call
00:14:07from Wade
00:14:09and he is like
00:14:10I
00:14:11am so sorry
00:14:13I want to come home
00:14:15and all I had
00:14:16in my head
00:14:16was revenge
00:14:19I agreed
00:14:19to pay for his
00:14:20bus ticket
00:14:21and I called
00:14:22the police
00:14:22and I said
00:14:23I have him
00:14:24coming back
00:14:24and you guys
00:14:25have a warrant
00:14:26so if I get him
00:14:27to my house
00:14:28will you come
00:14:28get him
00:14:29and they said
00:14:30sure
00:14:33I picked him up
00:14:34from the bus station
00:14:35he had told me
00:14:36that
00:14:37he had started
00:14:38doing cocaine
00:14:40I don't do drugs
00:14:41I've never done drugs
00:14:43but
00:14:44now
00:14:44we were sitting
00:14:45in the car
00:14:46and he was trying
00:14:48to like
00:14:48get a pen
00:14:49apart
00:14:50because he was
00:14:51trying to use it
00:14:51as a crack pipe
00:14:53when he couldn't
00:14:54get it apart
00:14:54he was freaking out
00:14:57he was trying
00:14:57to like break it
00:14:58he was like
00:14:59jabbing stuff in it
00:15:00and I was like
00:15:00what it
00:15:01like you're being
00:15:01really aggressive
00:15:03and that's the first
00:15:04time I ever like
00:15:05felt fear from him
00:15:07I thought he was
00:15:08going to actually
00:15:08put his hands on me
00:15:11I brought him
00:15:11back to my house
00:15:13called the police
00:15:15they said
00:15:15we need you to
00:15:16try to get him
00:15:17to come outside
00:15:19so I went outside
00:15:20there was like
00:15:2115 cop cars
00:15:23there was dogs
00:15:24the cops had
00:15:25shotguns
00:15:25and I was like
00:15:26oh my gosh
00:15:27this is terrifying
00:15:29so I called him
00:15:30and I said
00:15:31can you bring me
00:15:31my car keys
00:15:32I need to get
00:15:33something out of
00:15:33my car
00:15:35so he came
00:15:36outside
00:15:38and the cops
00:15:39put shotguns
00:15:41in his face
00:15:41and took him
00:15:42down and
00:15:42dragged him
00:15:44into the car
00:15:47after Wade
00:15:48was arrested
00:15:48he called me
00:15:50from jail
00:15:50begging for me
00:15:52to bail him
00:15:52out
00:15:53and I was like
00:15:54absolutely not
00:15:55I think I let
00:15:56him sit in there
00:15:57for like
00:15:58four days
00:15:59maybe
00:16:01and eventually
00:16:02he broke down
00:16:03my walls
00:16:03by crying
00:16:04and begging
00:16:06I bailed him
00:16:07out
00:16:08but I told him
00:16:09I didn't want
00:16:09him coming back
00:16:10to my house
00:16:10we were going
00:16:11to figure
00:16:11something out
00:16:11but it's not
00:16:12going to be
00:16:13at the house
00:16:14so that's when
00:16:15I suggested
00:16:15that maybe
00:16:16he should go
00:16:17to a rehab
00:16:20and he told
00:16:21me I have
00:16:22a friend
00:16:23who agreed
00:16:24to take me
00:16:24to a rehab
00:16:25in the Keys
00:16:29Wade and I
00:16:30continued talking
00:16:32he would go
00:16:32missing
00:16:33you know
00:16:33like for like
00:16:34a day or two
00:16:34and then I'd
00:16:35write him
00:16:35and I'd be like
00:16:36hey stranger
00:16:37and then he
00:16:38would be like
00:16:38I'm so sorry
00:16:39I've been so busy
00:16:42but in January
00:16:43I moved to
00:16:44the Keys
00:16:45with my sister
00:16:47I knew that
00:16:48it was going
00:16:49to be a while
00:16:49before I could
00:16:51see him again
00:16:53after I moved
00:16:54I was posting
00:16:55pictures on
00:16:56you know
00:16:56snapchat
00:16:57about us
00:16:58being in
00:16:58Key Largo
00:17:00and Wade
00:17:01called me
00:17:04what's up
00:17:05when can I
00:17:06come down
00:17:06there
00:17:07cause
00:17:07cause listen
00:17:08I so you know
00:17:09I'm looking at
00:17:10jobs down there
00:17:11I'm looking at
00:17:11jobs here
00:17:12I don't want
00:17:13to get a job
00:17:13here
00:17:13and be settled
00:17:14here
00:17:20he was like

00:17:27obviously wanted
00:17:28to be with him

00:17:40to meet up
00:17:41with this
00:17:41supposed
00:17:41person
00:17:42that was
00:17:43going to
00:17:43help him
00:17:43with a
00:17:43rehab
00:17:44but I
00:17:45didn't have
00:17:45any money
00:17:46because

00:18:08the Keys
00:18:08I don't
00:18:09care
00:18:10I felt
00:18:11like there
00:18:11was something
00:18:11seriously off
00:18:12with him
00:18:13and I was
00:18:14afraid
00:18:15that's
00:18:15that's when
00:18:16things started
00:18:17to go
00:18:18downhill
00:18:20so I
00:18:21started walking
00:18:22he drove
00:18:23around the
00:18:23block
00:18:25and attempted
00:18:26to hit me
00:18:26with my
00:18:27own car
00:18:28and told me

00:18:36and as soon
00:18:37as I did
00:18:38that
00:18:39he started
00:18:39strangling me
00:18:40with both
00:18:41hands
00:18:42I froze
00:18:43I didn't
00:18:44know what
00:18:44to do
00:18:44I was like
00:18:45in full
00:18:46panic mode
00:18:46this person
00:18:47that I
00:18:47thought
00:18:47loved me
00:18:48was putting
00:18:49his hands
00:18:49on me
00:18:51I was like
00:18:51clawing at
00:18:52his arms
00:18:53and
00:18:55somewhere
00:18:55he had
00:18:56gotten a
00:18:56pocket knife
00:18:58so he pushed
00:18:59me onto the
00:19:00floorboard
00:19:00and he took
00:19:01the pocket knife
00:19:03and he cut
00:19:04through my
00:19:05shirt and my
00:19:06sports bra
00:19:07and cut it
00:19:08off completely
00:19:09and held the
00:19:10knife to the
00:19:11back of
00:19:11my neck
00:19:11and he said
00:19:12you need to
00:19:13stay there
00:19:13and if you
00:19:14get up
00:19:14I'm going
00:19:15to stab

00:19:17and he
00:19:18used my
00:19:19sports bra
00:19:19and my
00:19:20shirt
00:19:20and he
00:19:21tied my
00:19:21hands together
00:19:23and started
00:19:24driving
00:19:27he told me

00:19:28my head up
00:19:29if I did
00:19:30anything
00:19:30he was going

00:19:33at one
00:19:34point
00:19:34he punched
00:19:35me in the
00:19:35face
00:19:37and he
00:19:37told me
00:19:39get out
00:19:39of the car
00:19:40don't look
00:19:41at anything
00:19:41and go
00:19:42to the
00:19:42back seat
00:19:42so I
00:19:44did
00:19:45when I
00:19:45got into
00:19:46the back
00:19:46seat
00:19:48he
00:19:48ripped off
00:19:50my shorts
00:19:50and he
00:19:52sexually
00:19:52assaulted me
00:19:54and when
00:19:56he was done
00:19:56he pushed
00:19:57me on the
00:19:58floor
00:19:58in the back
00:19:59between the
00:20:00seats
00:20:01and he
00:20:03took the

00:20:05I had
00:20:06and he
00:20:07covered me
00:20:08with all
00:20:08the dirty
00:20:08laundry
00:20:09I thought
00:20:10I was
00:20:10going to

00:20:11100%
00:20:12and then
00:20:13he met

00:20:14and sold
00:20:15my phone
00:20:16for 50

00:20:18all while
00:20:18I'm in the

00:20:38be sitting
00:20:39in the

00:20:39with you
00:20:40because if
00:20:41I'm sitting
00:20:41in the
00:20:41back
00:20:42it's going
00:20:42to look

00:23:28to get justice for what had happened to me
00:23:31I was happy to give them all this information and DNA and everything else
00:23:57cool
00:23:58cool
00:24:00all right brother
00:24:01all right
00:24:02Yes, sir.
00:24:06Have any police officials involved in this case coerced, threatened, or otherwise forced you to give me a statement?
00:24:11No, sir. Absolutely not.
00:24:12Are you making a statement of your own free will?
00:24:14Absolutely. Yes, sir.
00:24:15Okay. All right. Count, you know why you're here.
00:24:18I do know why we're here.
00:24:19You're a suspect in the case.
00:24:20Sure.
00:24:20Because she had called and said you did some ugly thing.
00:24:22I understand.
00:24:23She's my victim.
00:24:25Yeah.
00:24:25I'm working for her.
00:24:27You got to realize that.
00:24:28But I do have to give you the option to tell me, hey, I didn't kidnap, I didn't rape, and
00:24:35I didn't assault that woman.
00:24:36Yeah.
00:24:37And I have to believe you.
00:24:38Yeah. Thank you, dude.
00:24:39You see what I'm saying?
00:24:40Yeah.
00:24:41So with that said, did you kidnap or did you take it to the Keys to Key Largo against her
00:24:47will?
00:24:47No.
00:24:49Listen, and let me just tell you, Detective Potter, I need to say this.
00:24:52I've caused her no harm physically, nothing, dude.
00:24:55I haven't done nothing ever in my, ever since I've known her.
00:25:00That's all I need to hear.
00:25:01You know that, and I know that.
00:25:03You know what I'm saying?
00:25:04She said he beats me, he does this, he does that.
00:25:06You know, and I'm like, well, I just don't know.
00:25:09Yeah.
00:25:09I'm not doubting you, man.
00:25:11You're doing great.
00:25:11I don't know.
00:25:12No, you're doing great, and you're a smart man.
00:25:15You know, you're on the right track.
00:25:17But you know why we're here.
00:25:19She wants this to go quick because this is an ulterior motive, which sucks because she is my victim.
00:25:25So I've got to give her 100% of my abilities.
00:25:28But I ain't putting the wrong man in jail.
00:25:31I'll be damned if I do that.
00:25:32That's all I want, dude.
00:25:34Like, I just want her to stop, man.
00:25:36Please, like, that's all I need.
00:25:37That'll never happen from this department right now.
00:25:38Thank you so much.
00:25:39Honestly, thank you.
00:25:40None of our people are going to do that.
00:25:42Yeah, thank you so much, dude.
00:25:47I did find out that eventually he did get a swab from Wade for DNA.
00:25:51Both sides get good.
00:25:56And he asked if he would do a lie detector test.
00:26:01Wade declined.
00:26:03Um, and for whatever reason, the detective was like, okay, that's fine.
00:26:09If you know anybody that needs a personal trainer, I'm a great one.
00:26:13All right.
00:26:16He closed the case without getting the DNA back and just said, I have no proof and this
00:26:27is just like a he said, she said type of thing.
00:26:29There was no witnesses.
00:26:31I begged for him to not close the case.
00:26:35I was like, you're a detective.
00:26:36You're supposed to be protecting me.
00:26:39From a young age, you're taught to go to police when you need help.
00:26:42And I did that and nothing was done.
00:26:46I was failed as a victim and a sexual assault victim.
00:26:58Living in my sister's house, it was going pretty good.
00:27:02But like a week or so later, my sister and I got into an argument and she told me that
00:27:09I had to leave and obviously Wade had to go with me.
00:27:14Um, but where I was going, Wade couldn't go with me.
00:27:19Wade told me he had a friend, um, that he was going to go with.
00:27:26After I moved, we talked on the phone and we were messaging and everything.
00:27:31And then I couldn't get a hold of him.
00:27:34The phone was off.
00:27:36The messages weren't going through.
00:27:39And I just realized that he ghosted me.
00:27:48One of my longtime zoo friends had reached out to me and said that one of her friends
00:27:53was dating Wade.
00:27:55And then she told me that it was a guy.
00:27:58And I was like, wait, what?
00:28:06I was in Inverness, Florida, working on a carnival when I first noticed a hot guy working at a pizza
00:28:14stand.
00:28:27In 2019, I was living in an RV traveling on a carnival.
00:28:35I was working at a bungee jump at the carnival.
00:28:39I saw this new guy that I'd never recognized before.
00:28:43And I was like, wow, he's, like, pretty good looking.
00:28:46And I just told my friend, I was like, I think that I'm going to give him my number.
00:28:51So I wrote my number on a napkin and just left it there at this stand that he worked in.
00:28:58And a couple days went by and I felt someone tap on my shoulder.
00:29:02He just said, I'm Wade.
00:29:04And da-da-da-da-da.
00:29:06And I was like, okay, cool.
00:29:07I'm Christopher.
00:29:09He's like, I need that number again.
00:29:11And I was like, oh, okay.
00:29:12So.
00:29:14And I just put it in his phone.
00:29:19That night, he messaged me.
00:29:22And he's like, so I just got in a fight with the girl that I'm with.
00:29:27And she kicked me out.
00:29:28And he's like, I have nowhere to go.
00:29:30I was just like, yeah, I have a couch.
00:29:32I mean, you can sleep on the couch or whatever.
00:29:35And he's like, well, I don't want to sleep on the couch.
00:29:37I'm like, well, you can sleep wherever you want.
00:29:39I don't care.
00:29:41I met Wade on, like, a Tuesday or Wednesday.
00:29:44And then, like, maybe that following Sunday night, Wade moved into my RV.
00:29:54Wade said that he was straight when I met him.
00:29:57But I was like, it just seems a little sketchy.
00:29:59Like, if you're straight, you don't move into a guy's house with a guy and then want to sleep in
00:30:03his bed.
00:30:06Maybe, like, a week had went by.
00:30:08And then we ended up going out.
00:30:12And had some drinks.
00:30:15And then I was feeling pretty good.
00:30:16So then I think that was the first time.
00:30:20Usually after the first time, like, you sleep together.
00:30:24Either it goes well or you never hear from that person again.
00:30:28Like, that's just how it goes.
00:30:30But then he still was living with me.
00:30:38Two weeks after he'd moved in, he had asked if I wanted to make it Facebook official.
00:30:45I was very surprised because he was so skeptical about being with a guy.
00:30:52And this was my first relationship with a guy.
00:30:57We enjoyed being together.
00:30:58We did a lot of stuff together.
00:30:59We had fun.
00:31:01And then after that was our last fair, I was like, well, I'm going to go home to my mom's
00:31:07house for a little bit and just park my trailer there so I can spend a little time with her
00:31:11before I figure out what I'm going to do.
00:31:14So we ended up doing that.
00:31:18One night, me, Wade, my mom, and a few friends went out to a bar.
00:31:23And they thought he was hot.
00:31:25I mean, obviously.
00:31:26And they thought he was cool because he's a good, smooth talker, you know.
00:31:33One night, Wade is just like, oh, we should get some drugs and, like, have fun.
00:31:38We just chill at the house.
00:31:39And, like, um, and I was like, okay, cool.
00:31:41I'll call up this dude that I used to know.
00:31:44And this guy, like, I don't know what he gave us.
00:31:48Like, ended up giving us, like, bath salts or something.
00:31:52In the middle of the night, Wade is slipping out.
00:31:55And he's just like, oh, my God, somebody's trying to break in the house.
00:31:58Someone's trying to break in the house.
00:31:59I'm like, nobody's trying to break in the house.
00:32:01Go to bed.
00:32:03So then, like, a few hours later, he ends up waking me up again.
00:32:06Well, this time, he's, like, standing over my bed with a knife.
00:32:11Wade said, if somebody breaks in the house, I'm going to slit your throat before I slit theirs.
00:32:16And I was like, that pissed me off.
00:32:18So then I ended up, like, getting up out of bed and, like, we got in a fight.
00:32:24I pushed him and got crazy while he had a knife in his hand.
00:32:27And so then he ended up, like, cutting my chest and he cut my hand.
00:32:30For, like, four hours, he wouldn't let me get up.
00:32:33And I would try to get up.
00:32:34And then he, like, literally was choking me.
00:32:36It was crazy.
00:32:38I had, like, these sliding glass doors in my RV, like, that covered my closet.
00:32:42And he ended up, like, throwing me through there.
00:32:45And then it broke the glass.
00:32:47So then that ended up cutting me more.
00:32:49So now I'm, like, really bleeding.
00:32:51And I was like, oh, my gosh.
00:32:55Then he ran out of the house.
00:32:57So as soon as he, like, left, I, like, locked my door.
00:33:02My heart was beating so fast.
00:33:04It was, like, forever.
00:33:07After he stabbed me, I didn't call the police.
00:33:11Unless someone's dead, there's no reason to call the cops.
00:33:15I ended up taking an Advil PM and I got under my kitchen table and I just slept under there.
00:33:30I woke up, like, the next day to my sister, like, banging on my door.
00:33:36Wade had ended up getting a hold of my sister.
00:33:41My sister calmed the situation down and, like, he showed back up with blood all over him and apologized.
00:33:49He seemed sincere.
00:33:51And he sounded like he was sorry.
00:33:54So I said after that, if you're with me, like, there's no more drinking, no more smoking.
00:34:00Like, you're not even smoking cigarettes.
00:34:02I don't care.
00:34:10Wade had found this job on Indeed that sounded different and more interesting than what I had going on.
00:34:19And then we moved to Key West, like, two days later.
00:34:22He had lived down there prior.
00:34:24So he seemed to have, like, a little familiarity with it, but I didn't.
00:34:29I would say maybe two weeks after we had arrived in the Keys, I found out that Wade was, like,
00:34:35going around and telling people that we were cousins.
00:34:39And I felt like Wade was embarrassed about our relationship, and I didn't want to be in a relationship where
00:34:46I had to hide anything.
00:34:49So I kicked him out.
00:34:52Then I just packed up and left.
00:34:57I found out that Wade had been dating Chris.
00:35:02And I wanted to reach out and warn Chris about everything.
00:35:07He had told me that he had kicked Wade out recently, and he had attempted to stab him.
00:35:14He told me everything about how things had gone great in the beginning and then just went way south very
00:35:20fast, just like with mine.
00:35:23After that, I started reaching out to all the people I could find that had dated Wade and that he
00:35:30had hurt.
00:35:32And I started telling my story on Instagram and TikTok.
00:35:36So this is my lip.
00:35:37He busted my lip open.
00:35:39These are the ligature marks on my hands.
00:35:42This is the marks from being strangled.
00:35:47Posting videos about Wade and what he did to me and that other women and men should not hide and
00:35:57they should tell their story.
00:35:58And if anyone ever needed someone to talk to, they could message me.
00:36:04Wade's biological father reached out to me.
00:36:07I had no idea who he was.
00:36:10He told me, don't go back to him.
00:36:13He's done this before.
00:36:15And hearing that from his father really solidified that I cannot ever go back to this man, which is part
00:36:25of the reason why I was so adamant about helping other people to stay away from him.
00:36:36Several months after I started posting on social media, I got a message on Instagram from somebody saying that his
00:36:45friend Mila had started dating Wade and they needed help to get her away from him because he was already
00:36:52abusing her.
00:36:57They sent me pictures of her covered in bruises, like way worse than I was.
00:37:03So they gave me her information and I reached out to her and she told me from the beginning he
00:37:08was putting his hands on her.
00:37:10But she loved him and she wanted to try to make it work.
00:37:14Seeing how he was so easily able to do what he did to me and to Chris and to Mila
00:37:22and to everybody else, I knew it was going to escalate.
00:37:25I was begging Mila to leave him.
00:37:30I told her everything that he did to me.
00:37:33I was like, please get away from this man.
00:37:36He's going to kill you.
00:37:45911, what is your emergency?
00:37:47There's a man grabbing a woman in our parking lot.
00:37:50She's yelling no, no, and she's on the ground.
00:37:55There's a man here, appears to be a foster woman.
00:37:59Now, you know, fighting in the parking lot.
00:38:01We do have a call and we have officers en route, sir.
00:38:08The Fort Myers Police Department responded to Mila Spa for a domestic violence fight where witnesses had told the Fort
00:38:17Myers police officers that Wade Wilson had punched her in the face.
00:38:21What's his name?
00:38:22Wade Wilson.
00:38:23He just got out of jail.
00:38:26Well, he left me at the bar at Poodle.
00:38:28I could have a picture.
00:38:29This guy's a nightmare.
00:38:32Like, she spent the night at my house because there was, he took her car.
00:38:37So she spent the night at my house on the sofa and he was calling her up.
00:38:41You're not at his house.
00:38:43You're not at me.
00:38:43He's a fucking liar.
00:38:44I'm like, she is, bro.
00:38:46She's right here on my bed because you took her car and we'll get her back.
00:38:50Now he has her car, keys to her fucking place.
00:38:52Didn't give any of that back.
00:38:53I'm like, Mila, I've got to get rid of this fucking guy.
00:38:57When they responded there, Melissa Montinez gave a vehicle description of the car that Wade was driving.
00:39:05Wade Wilson was supposed to come to her spa and bring her back her car that he had taken the
00:39:11night before.
00:39:12And instead of showing up in her car, he showed up in a car that she did not recognize.
00:39:24They end up locating the car with Wade Wilson in it at a Joe's Crab Shack, just sitting in the
00:39:31parking lot.
00:39:40How are you doing?
00:39:49Good.
00:39:49How are you doing?
00:39:50What's going on, man?
00:39:53You're waiting on your girlfriend?
00:39:55Oh, okay.
00:39:56That's no problem.
00:39:58No, I got a call.
00:39:59Somebody was sitting in their car and everything like that.
00:40:01No, we don't do this possible.
00:40:04Oh, okay.
00:40:05She's on her way now.
00:40:06Yes.
00:40:06We don't do this possible right now.
00:40:08Mm-hmm.
00:40:10Okay.
00:40:12I'm going to have you step out of the car and I'm going to detain you.
00:40:17Not arrest.
00:40:19Detain you right now.
00:40:20What happened?
00:40:22Because of the battery this morning.
00:40:26There wasn't any battery?
00:40:29Okay.
00:40:32Give me the, let me see the keys to the car.
00:40:37Wade.
00:40:38Sir, I didn't move.
00:40:45All right.
00:40:47Just wait until my partner gets here.
00:40:51L-4-1.
00:40:53Going to need a couple more units.
00:40:54Don't go anywhere.
00:40:56Hey.
00:41:02Just taking off for a fire.
00:41:04Just ran a stop sign.
00:41:07Going up towards McGregor.
00:41:09Do we have, like, an address of where this guy lives or anything?
00:41:14Negative, sir.
00:41:14We don't even know who that car belongs to.
00:41:17I'm off of him.
00:41:19He signaled 12.
00:41:21It's only battery charge.
00:41:24Perfect.
00:41:27When Wade Wilson took off from the scene, there was a very brief pursuit before that was terminated.
00:41:34Wade Wilson was only being investigated by the Fort Myers Police Department at that time for a misdemeanor battery charge.
00:41:43Pursuing someone, endangering the lives of the public for a misdemeanor battery charge is not something that any agency would
00:41:50do.
00:41:57We know that Wade went to Joe's crab shack, and then he left there, and then went back over the
00:42:05bridge, back over into the Cape, and went to Mateo's graphics, where Wade had approached Joshua Lukic, seeking to get
00:42:13help just to get out of town as quickly as he possibly could.
00:42:20911, what is your emergency?
00:42:23I have a very unstable man that's at my office.
00:42:31He's got tattoos.
00:42:32He's shirtless.
00:42:34He said he just hurt a girl.
00:42:37His name was Wade.
00:42:39Wade.
00:42:40Yeah, I don't know his last name, but I know his name's Wade.
00:42:43He's just a cordial friend of a friend associate, and he just did something bad, I guess, and is running
00:42:49from somebody, but I need to get him out of my place.
00:42:53I just left.
00:42:54I'm right around the block.
00:42:55I don't feel safe with this guy there.
00:42:57He won't leave.
00:42:59When the Cape Coral Police Department arrived to meet with Josh Lukic, officers tried to locate Wade inside the business,
00:43:07but he had fled the area on foot.
00:43:10Cape Coral, at that point, wasn't even aware of what had happened at Mila's spa in Fort Myers.
00:43:17There would have not been any communication or knowledge between the two agencies.
00:43:22The detectives began investigating the vehicle that was located there at the business.
00:43:27They determined that it belonged to a young lady by the name of Christine Melton.
00:43:32Christine Melton was then placed on their radar, and they began to try to locate Miss Melton.
00:43:38They began running the driver's license information for her, determining who the emergency contact was, which happened to have been
00:43:45a young lady by the name of Stephanie Johnson.
00:43:48They reached out to Miss Johnson.
00:43:49Miss Johnson had told them that the night before, she and Christine Melton met Wade Wilson at the Buddha, which
00:43:58is a local establishment here in Fort Myers.
00:44:01They were in the process of closing down the Buddha.
00:44:05It was about 2 o'clock in the morning, but yet they didn't want to stop partying.
00:44:11So they decided to move over to Miss Melton's residence.
00:44:16Stephanie had to get her child to school, so she left Christine alone with Wade Wilson at that point in
00:44:23time.
00:44:25The Cape Coral Police Department had responded to Christine Melton's home in South Cape Coral.
00:44:32When law enforcement arrived, they knocked at the residence.
00:44:35They didn't receive a response, so they ultimately wound up breaching the door.
00:44:41When officers went inside, they had located Christine Melton wrapped up in some blankets and a carpet.
00:44:49Christine Melton was choked to death.
00:44:52Right about that same time, we received a call from the Fort Myers Police Department.
00:44:59They had been investigating the domestic incident with Melissa Montanez and Wade Wilson fleeing the scene in Christine Melton's car.
00:45:09The homicide of Christine Melton, then the domestic violence incident with Melissa Montanez,
00:45:15happened right on the border between the two cities.
00:45:19We are working two investigations that are separate from each other at the same time with the same suspect.
00:45:26The search was on at that point to find Wade Wilson.
00:45:33In 2019, I was working for the Cape Coral Police Department as a detective.
00:45:38When we found out that Mila was the girlfriend of our current suspect,
00:45:44then that's when they requested, hey, detect me, you know, go to the Fort Myers Police Department,
00:45:50go speak with Mila, see what information you can get from her.
00:45:53Most importantly, a location for Wade Wilson at the time.
00:45:57And what relationship Wade Wilson had with Miss Christine Melton.
00:46:07How do you know, Wade, how long have you known?
00:46:10Boyfriend, six months.
00:46:11Boyfriend, six months.
00:46:14He's been in jail, incarcerated three and a half of this.
00:46:17He beat me up, and I put him in jail here.
00:46:20And then when he had a charge in West Palm for second-degree felony stolen property,
00:46:28they released him, and me, stupid enough, went down five days ago and got him.
00:46:34There's a gang of exes that keep saying, Mila, don't go back, Mila, don't go back.
00:46:37Exes of his.
00:46:38Yeah.
00:46:39Kelly was friends with Chris.
00:46:40Listen, like, it's just, like, all these people that link up together and just share information.
00:46:45Everybody told me that this would happen.
00:46:49I have a busted mouth, so I'm talking funny.
00:46:51Yeah, he busted it this morning.
00:46:53It's okay.
00:46:54He punches me as hard as he can right here, like, in the face.
00:46:59And somehow when he punched like that, I was able to kind of, like, maneuver around the back and run.
00:47:05And that's how I got away.
00:47:06And then he jumped in the car and left.
00:47:09You haven't seen him, though, since then?
00:47:12Now, let's rewind.
00:47:14Okay.
00:47:23Last night we went to Buda, roughly 11-ish.
00:47:28What happened there?
00:47:29We ordered a few beers.
00:47:31Well, he's wandering around talking to people.
00:47:33You know, he's very social.
00:47:34And then I pretty much sit at the table watching the band.
00:47:38And, yeah, we just hang with friends and stuff like that.
00:47:41And then that's when he wanted to go get drugs at the drug house or something.
00:47:47I said, no, I don't want to go to a drug house, you know.
00:47:50I guess he knew that I wasn't going to do that.
00:47:51He took the keys.
00:47:52And then I see the Hellcat drive off.
00:47:55He leaves the Buddha in your car by himself.
00:47:58No.
00:47:59He can't drive a stick shift.
00:48:00So he had somebody else with him.
00:48:02Who?
00:48:03I don't know.
00:48:04I don't know.
00:48:05I feel like it was a car full of people.
00:48:08And in the morning, he was blowing up my phone.
00:48:10And he told me that the Hellcat ran out of gas somewhere.
00:48:13So I said, okay, let me come get the keys.
00:48:17So I said, meet me at the spa.
00:48:20He pulls in a black car.
00:48:21I'm wondering whose car it is.
00:48:23Were you ever inside that car?
00:48:25No, I was not getting that car.
00:48:26Never made it inside.
00:48:27I would have died if I would have gotten that car.
00:48:30Speaking with Mila, we were able to put Wade Wilson at the Buddha the same night as Miss
00:48:37Melton.
00:48:38And we were able to connect the charges for the battery domestic violence with the homicide
00:48:44investigation.
00:48:46I'm going to be straight up and honest with you.
00:48:48We do have a body.
00:48:50My God.
00:48:51Stop it.
00:48:52Are you really serious?
00:48:55Did you see him talking to any females at the club last night?
00:48:57No.
00:48:59Was he talking just to random people all over the place?
00:49:03He's very social.
00:49:05If I wouldn't have got him, this would have never happened.
00:49:09You can't blame God.
00:49:15I wish I would have just left him down there.
00:49:18While speaking with Mila, I asked her if I could see her phone.
00:49:22And I noticed that he had called her several times throughout the day of October.
00:49:28We're seventh from different numbers.
00:49:33When we recovered the black Nissan belonging to Christine Melton, we ended up serving a search
00:49:39warrant on the vehicle.
00:49:41And we did locate two cell phones inside of this black Nissan.
00:49:48When we recover the phone, we are not able to just turn on cell phones and see who they belong
00:49:55to and start rummaging through them.
00:49:57To be able to go inside someone's cell phone requires a search warrant.
00:50:01And that takes time.
00:50:03And in a situation like this, time is important.
00:50:06So I was really playing a waiting game.
00:50:09While we were working on the Christine Melton case, that first day, when we get another case,
00:50:16we had received a call at the Cape Coral Police Department about a found purse and possible missing woman.
00:50:23A police officer at a local elementary school had a parent come into the school and say,
00:50:31hey, I found this purse out in front of the school by the sidewalk.
00:50:35He looks in the wallet, gets the name and the address, and realizes that the owner of the purse, Diane
00:50:42Ruiz,
00:50:43lives just a couple of streets behind his school.
00:50:46The officer went to return the purse, and when he got to the home, he learned that Diane Ruiz was
00:50:54not there.
00:50:55Her son told our school resource officer that my mom is supposed to be at work.
00:51:069-1-1, what is your emergency?
00:51:09I would like to file a missing person support.
00:51:11Okay, what's exactly going on, sir?
00:51:14Well, um, she was walking to work and never made it to work.
00:51:21Her purse was found, and she is nowhere to be found.
00:51:26Okay, and who is that to you?
00:51:28That is my fiancée.
00:51:30Does she have a phone?
00:51:33Yes, her phone is not in her purse that they found.
00:51:37In Diane's case, knowing that her cell phone was turned off and that she was not responding to any messages,
00:51:43I really wanted to get a hold of her cell phone records quickly.
00:51:47When I was speaking with another detective, she said,
00:51:50you know, Nick, what do you think the chances are that these two cases are related?
00:51:55And at that time, I said, I don't know, we're on opposite ends of the city.
00:52:01Nothing so far has said that Diane Ruiz or Christine Melton knew each other,
00:52:07and we could not come up with a connection between the two women.
00:52:12All at the same time, there's still a big piece of the Christine Melton case missing.
00:52:19Our suspect is still on the loose.
00:52:21We knew the general area that he was last in when he was at Mateo Graphics.
00:52:27That neighborhood was searched extensively, and we had hoped that he was still in that general area.
00:52:41All of a sudden, that night on October 7th, we get a big break.
00:52:46We received a call from Wade Wilson's dad,
00:52:51giving us a location of a house that he was hiding inside of in Cape Coral
00:52:55that was right down the street from Mateo Graphics.
00:53:00I said, what's going on?
00:53:02So he goes, do you want me to tell you the truth?
00:53:05And I said, yeah.
00:53:06He said, I killed a girl last night.
00:53:10And I said, what?
00:53:13And he said, two.
00:53:15And he said, I choked the bitch.
00:53:18He said, Dad, I'm a killer.
00:53:21I'm a killer, and I kill with my bare hands.
00:53:25He said, they'll find the first one, I know that, you know.
00:53:28He wouldn't detail what he did, and he laughed, and he thought it was funny.
00:53:36And I said, where are you?
00:53:38He said, I got away.
00:53:40I found a house.
00:53:43Wade Wilson broke into a home nearby in northeast Cape Coral.
00:53:49Luckily, the couple that was living there had left the day before and went back to Ohio.
00:53:54Wade Wilson helped himself to some white claws, food, and clothing.
00:54:00During that time, he ended up calling his biological father.
00:54:05We found out that his dad didn't have much of a connection with Wade until he had reconnected
00:54:12when he was 18 years old and had started asking his parents for money.
00:54:19Wade had asked him whether or not he would assist him in getting out of town.
00:54:23The dad put out a ruse to indicate that, yeah, he would get him an Uber,
00:54:27but he needed to know what the address was, where he was located.
00:54:31So at that point in time, the father let Cape Coral Police Department know where Wade Wilson was.
00:54:41When the task force got there, they then invited Mr. Wilson to come out,
00:54:46and that's how he was ultimately located and ultimately arrested.
00:54:50All right, man, listen, I'm a nice guy, okay?
00:54:53That's good.
00:54:54All right, good.
00:54:56So, all right, I'm going to take, I'm going to put some new handcuffs on you.
00:54:59If you do anything stupid, I'm going to slam you on your face.
00:55:01I'm going to slam you on your face.
00:55:02I'm going to slam you on my face if you want to.
00:55:04I don't care.
00:55:04I can do nothing.
00:55:05All right.
00:55:05But you don't have to threaten me.
00:55:06Take the fucking car, man.
00:55:07Spread your feet.
00:55:08Kick your feet.
00:55:08Fuck you.
00:55:09Fuck you.
00:55:10Fuck you, man.
00:55:11Yeah.
00:55:12Twist there.
00:55:21I got a phone call from his dad saying I'm on the other line with the marshals,
00:55:29and they have Wade surrounded, and he murdered two women.
00:55:35Come this way.
00:55:36Of course, I was like, are you serious?
00:55:40But deep down, I wasn't shocked at all.
00:55:43I knew that that's what he was capable of.
00:55:45Let's do the second door here.
00:55:48After Wade Wilson was placed under arrest, the first interview with him went very quickly.
00:55:53You're on the stuff, my dick cracker.
00:55:55How about that?
00:55:56I'll see you in track.
00:55:57He did not admit to knowing Christine Melton, did not admit to having anything to do with
00:56:03the homicide of Christine Melton.
00:56:06The next morning, an email came from Diane's cell phone carrier.
00:56:11At that point, I now have her cell phone records, and I'm looking at the last calls or text messages
00:56:19that were made or came through.
00:56:20And when I had looked at the phone number, immediately, my heart sank because I recognized the phone number that
00:56:29was being dialed,
00:56:30belonging to the girlfriend of Wade Wilson.
00:56:33Wade Wilson was calling his girlfriend, Mila, from Diane Ruiz's phone.
00:56:38At that point, I knew that the Christine Melton case and the Diane Ruiz case were connected.
00:56:45So at this point, my strategy changes.
00:56:48I go from working a missing person case to working a possible homicide.
00:56:57A painful night for Southwest Florida family.
00:57:00Their loved one is missing.
00:57:01Diane Ruiz disappeared yesterday morning on her way to work.
00:57:04Her purse found nearby.
00:57:06This torture is just sitting back here and just waiting.
00:57:09It's killing us.
00:57:11It really is killing us.
00:57:13Brandon Cuellar and his family are still reeling from the sudden disappearance of his mother.
00:57:18I want my mother to come home.
00:57:20That's my mother.
00:57:22After getting the phone records, I was able to go into the elementary school and take a look at the
00:57:28surveillance video
00:57:29from the time where the purse was dropped off.
00:57:33And now I see Christine Melton's car in the same spot where Diane Ruiz's purse was located.
00:57:41I also obtained GPS and large and latitude coordinates for every spot that her phone was pinging.
00:57:51Diane's phone had traveled a lot within her neighborhood and then had traveled west on Pine Island Road.
00:58:00Pine Island Road is a lot of vacant lots, a lot of trees, bushes, wooded areas that you could potentially
00:58:10hide a body if you wanted to.
00:58:14I had believed that Diane Ruiz's body was somewhere located along Pine Island Road.
00:58:20We had canines out searching for her.
00:58:24We had side-by-side ATVs out looking for her.
00:58:28Squad cars, you name it, everybody was out looking.
00:58:41Within, I would say, about two and a half days of searching, Wade Wilson's dad had another conversation with him
00:58:48while he was in the Lee County Jail.
00:58:59What's up, dad?
00:59:00What's up, boy?
00:59:01Hey, man, how you doing?
00:59:02I'm all right.
00:59:03You okay?
00:59:04Yeah, not really.
00:59:05How did you?
00:59:05I found out how they found me.
00:59:07What?
00:59:07They said you.
00:59:08They said they found me because you.
00:59:09What'd they say?
00:59:10They said you called him.
00:59:12Yeah.
00:59:12Did you?
00:59:13What do you think?
00:59:14Yeah.
00:59:15Yeah.
00:59:15Yeah.
00:59:16All right.
00:59:17How do you feel about that?
00:59:19Dad?
00:59:19Yeah.
00:59:20Yeah.
00:59:21I do, too.
00:59:22Yeah.
00:59:23Do you understand that?
00:59:25No.
00:59:25Why?
00:59:26Because why would you want me here?
00:59:28You know I'm going to be here.
00:59:29Wade, son, listen to me.
00:59:30I love you more than anything on this fucking earth.
00:59:33Yeah.
00:59:34And I'm going to be honest with you, son.
00:59:41You broke my heart.
00:59:44Yeah.
00:59:44When I say that to you, I don't mean that to make you feel like shit.
00:59:49But I say that to you because, you know, you came from me.
00:59:55Yeah.
00:59:55And the pain that you have caused, son, I can't even describe to you.
01:00:01Yeah.
01:00:02It's something that'll never be forgotten.
01:00:06But listen to me, son.
01:00:08We got to fix it.
01:00:09Well, how do you want me to fix it?
01:00:11I'm here to help you fix it because I'm going to tell you why we got to fix it.
01:00:15Three reasons.
01:00:18Yeah.
01:00:18That 15-year-old boy that's missing his fucking mom right now.
01:00:22Yeah.
01:00:23Who is about to fucking lose his shit because he's waiting on his fucking mom to walk back
01:00:27in that door.
01:00:28Yeah.
01:00:29We got to fix it.
01:00:30That fiancé who's waiting on his fucking wife to come home.
01:00:35We got to fix it.
01:00:36Yeah.
01:00:37And the only way, Wade, that you are going to get any fucking leniency is to fix this shit.
01:00:43Okay?
01:00:44Everybody in the state thinks you're a monster.
01:00:47Yeah, I know.
01:00:47Okay?
01:00:48So, yes, yes, you did some monstrous shit.
01:00:51Yeah.
01:00:52But you know what?
01:00:53You can show them that you have remorse and you fixed it, son.
01:00:57Did they put the story on the news or anything?
01:00:59Yeah.
01:01:00Yeah?
01:01:00Yeah.
01:01:01So, what do you want me to do?
01:01:03I mean, when?
01:01:04We got to sit in that lady home to our family, son.
01:01:10All right, dad.
01:01:11Okay?
01:01:11All right.
01:01:11She's got to go home to her family as painful as it's going to be for those people.
01:01:16Yeah.
01:01:16Not knowing is harder for them.
01:01:19Yeah.
01:01:20And that little boy's been on that fucking news.
01:01:22Yeah.
01:01:23Just crying for his mama's son.
01:01:24Are you kidding me?
01:01:25No, dude.
01:01:26I'm not fucking kidding you, Wade.
01:01:27It's fucking heartbreaking.
01:01:29Yeah.
01:01:30Okay?
01:01:30And this is what I don't understand.
01:01:32You know, and I don't, whatever.
01:01:34Was that, was that just rising to his book?
01:01:37Yeah.
01:01:38Yeah, I knew it.
01:01:39I knew it was.
01:01:40Yeah.
01:01:40And just, you know, you lost your goddamn mind.
01:01:44Yeah.
01:01:44Yeah, it was right.
01:01:45Okay?
01:01:46And my biggest fear was that you were going to lose it and go on a rampage.
01:01:51And I just about did.
01:01:53I know.
01:01:53I know you were heading there.
01:01:55Yeah, I was.
01:01:56Okay?
01:01:56I was going to do more.
01:01:57I know.
01:01:58How do you know?
01:01:59That's crazy you said that.
01:02:00You were right.
01:02:01You were right.
01:02:02I knew what you were going to do.
01:02:04That's why I went, that's why after the first one, I said, okay, number two, then number three.
01:02:08Right.
01:02:08Yeah.
01:02:09Yes.
01:02:09That's why I said another.
01:02:10And you know what's crazy, son?
01:02:11What's that?
01:02:12Is the people's house that you went in.
01:02:13Yeah.
01:02:14They just left.
01:02:16No.
01:02:17They fucking just left.
01:02:18Just left.
01:02:19You're kidding me.
01:02:20No, I'm not kidding.
01:02:21Yeah, I believe it.
01:02:21You think what happened when you went in that fucking house?
01:02:23Oh, everybody.
01:02:25Right.
01:02:25Everybody.
01:02:26Okay.
01:02:29October the 10th was now the third day that we were looking for Diane Ruiz.
01:02:36All of the officers at our police department were still searching the Pine Island Corridor.
01:02:44Two of our officers had taken a break from searching, and they were having lunch in a vacant field.
01:02:56While they were having lunch, one of our officers noticed a buzzard in the sky in the area.
01:03:07The buzzard ended up landing in a vacant field next to some pepper bushes.
01:03:14Buzzards are attracted to decomposing flesh.
01:03:19So, the officer went into the pepper bushes in this vacant lot, and that's where he had located the body
01:03:29of Diane Ruiz.
01:03:36When the medical examiner had responded to the scene, Diane Ruiz had some marks on her body that looked like
01:03:44tire marks.
01:03:46However, it was really hard to tell from the naked eye any cause of death.
01:03:53While we were on scene, I get a phone call saying, hey, Wade Wilson wants to talk to you.
01:04:02What's going on?
01:04:02All right, Wade.
01:04:04My team's doing some French fries and a burger, and I'm going to take the right where you want to
01:04:08go.
01:04:09French fries and a burger?
01:04:10That's all I want, bro.
01:04:12He wanted to trade a body for a meal.
01:04:16But Wade Wilson has no idea that we just located the body of Diane Ruiz.
01:04:24So, do you want me to tell you the truth?
01:04:26Yeah.
01:04:27Sure.
01:04:28All right.
01:04:31Truth is, I was just randomly driving.
01:04:34I saw her walking about the road.
01:04:37But the wind went out, and I said, hey, do you know where the high school is?
01:04:40Where are the schools at?
01:04:41Could you show me?
01:04:42She got it in my cart.
01:04:44I saw this up.
01:04:45I saw this up.
01:04:46Okay.
01:04:46Got her in my cart.
01:04:47And then, from there, we drove from school, and I was going to drop her off.
01:04:51But I knew in my mind I was going to drop her off.
01:04:54She really wanted to get out of the car.
01:04:56At this point, I could tell she was getting, I could sense your fear.
01:04:59I'm like, fuck her mind.
01:05:00I'm like, you're the prey.
01:05:02I can sense it.
01:05:04And she wanted to get out.
01:05:06And I could just tell.
01:05:07So I was like, you know, I'm just going to go ahead and just kill her.
01:05:09Wait.
01:05:15And I grabbed my neck and choked her.
01:05:18She was fine with this, I'm sure.
01:05:20Give her that.
01:05:22And I brought her to her.
01:05:24I'm going to show you guys where she's at.
01:05:25And she was still alive.
01:05:28And pushed her out of the park.
01:05:30And she tried to get out of the vehicle.
01:05:33So she was not moving anymore.
01:05:39And she tried to get out of the park.
01:05:44And she tried to get out of the park.
01:05:44While talking with him, he's got really dark eyes.
01:05:48It's almost like that there was just, like, nothing there.
01:05:51There was no remorse.
01:05:52No empathy.
01:05:55That's what I think was fun, you know.
01:05:57I used my charm.
01:05:58I used my good looks.
01:05:59That's what I did with the first girl.
01:06:01And that's how I got her in her bed.
01:06:03And then look what happened to her.
01:06:04Same story.
01:06:05Same story with this.
01:06:07I just used my looks.
01:06:09Well, since you brought her out, let me ask you about that then.
01:06:12First, girl, how'd that all happen?
01:06:15I'm at her at the park.
01:06:17Okay.
01:06:18Went up to her.
01:06:19Dank.
01:06:20Got it.
01:06:20Just like that?
01:06:21Several bullets.
01:06:24Me, the girl, her friend, went back to her house where she just found out.
01:06:29After, like, 20 minutes of being at the house, her friend left.
01:06:33Okay.
01:06:33And then, um, and then I killed her.
01:06:36How'd you go?
01:06:37Oh, strangulation.
01:06:41And then where'd you go?
01:06:42Um, then I got in the car.
01:06:44I went to my girls first.
01:06:46That didn't work out right.
01:06:47And I was like, you know what?
01:06:49I've already done it once, man.
01:06:50Do it again.
01:06:52Randomly driving around.
01:06:53Randomly saw that girl walking.
01:06:56And I was like, that's the one.
01:06:59I'm so crazy when I'm on drugs that the rage overcomes me.
01:07:04Am I thinking properly?
01:07:06And I just, I guess, you know what goes across my mind?
01:07:09Just murder.
01:07:10Just murder.
01:07:11Murder.
01:07:11Just kill.
01:07:12Kill.
01:07:12Kill.
01:07:14Are we going to go?
01:07:15You're going to take me to me.
01:07:16I'll show you the body.
01:07:17Yeah.
01:07:18You're going to go?
01:07:18Fresh fries.
01:07:19Yeah.
01:07:20Let's go get this body.
01:07:21Come on.
01:07:22It's going to get dark.
01:07:22Come on, man.
01:07:23I'm hungry.
01:07:25The fact that we had already located Diane,
01:07:28there was no reason for me to take him out of jail.
01:07:32Cave Coral Police tonight are confirming
01:07:34they consider Wade Wilson, who's in custody,
01:07:36seen here in a court appearance yesterday,
01:07:38a person of interest in the deaths of both these women.
01:07:42I started watching the news, and my heart dropped.
01:07:47Like, it had to have been someone else.
01:07:50It can't be him.
01:07:51Like, he's not that type of person.
01:07:54Like, yeah, he cheats, but he's not a murderer.
01:08:00I turn on the news, and, like, it's literally
01:08:02Wade on the news.
01:08:04Like, Lee County murdered.
01:08:07I was like, oh, my gosh.
01:08:10Looking back, the night Wade stabbed me
01:08:12could have ended up very differently.
01:08:14I could have been dead.
01:08:19A couple of months later,
01:08:21we were able to get DNA confirmation
01:08:23for both Diane Ruiz and Christine Melton.
01:08:27Wade Wilson's DNA was recovered from both crime scenes.
01:08:31And we were able to confirm that Wade Wilson
01:08:35sexually assaulted Diane Ruiz
01:08:37after he killed her.
01:08:42The grand jury officially indicted Wade Wilson
01:08:45on two counts of first-degree murder
01:08:46and the deaths of Ruiz and another woman, Christine Melton.
01:08:50Both women were killed within hours of each other
01:08:52in Cape Coral last month.
01:08:54These two women were preyed upon by the defendant,
01:08:59and their murders impacted their families
01:09:01and shook our community.
01:09:03The grand jury indictment comes out,
01:09:06and the public is very interested in this case.
01:09:09The media attention grew and grew and grew over time.
01:09:14This is not what we're used to,
01:09:16this type of just absolute random violence.
01:09:20Some people made a little bit of a weird connection
01:09:22between Wade Wilson and Cape Coral
01:09:25and Wade Wilson, the anti-hero,
01:09:28also known as Deadpool.
01:09:30Some people were calling him the Deadpool killer,
01:09:33using it in headlines,
01:09:34saying the Deadpool killer is going to trial.
01:09:37Anytime we would have court,
01:09:39he'd be on the news,
01:09:40and people would see his face.
01:09:41And so women started writing him.
01:09:44Women started reaching out to him.
01:09:47I did a public records request
01:09:48for Wade Wilson's visitor log.
01:09:51There were hundreds of kiosk calls from women.
01:09:55Thank you for using GTL.
01:09:59Hi, baby.
01:10:00Hi, baby.
01:10:05What's up, baby?
01:10:07What's up, Shagarin?
01:10:10Hey, baby, what are you going to be wearing tomorrow?
01:10:14Maybe not, Shagarin.
01:10:18Well, maybe that sounds like a good idea.
01:10:22During the time period up to the trial,
01:10:25Wade Wilson is changing his appearance
01:10:28while he's in jail,
01:10:29including adding tattoos on his face and head,
01:10:33such as a swastika.
01:10:35This grabs media attention, of course,
01:10:37and it just caused a media sensation.
01:10:40Wade Wilson.
01:10:41Wade Wilson.
01:10:41Wade Wilson.
01:10:42Wade Wilson.
01:10:42Wade Wilson's receiving an interesting number
01:10:45of messages from the outside.
01:10:463,903 messages since June 12th of this year.
01:10:51Say lemonade, spell it out.
01:10:53Surp it up like a lemonade.
01:10:55Sweet and sour, make it bust it.
01:10:57He ate it up.
01:10:58He loved it.
01:10:59Every time he'd come to court,
01:11:01he'd look behind and see who was there watching him.
01:11:05He gained a following from all over the world
01:11:08that went on email writing campaigns for him
01:11:13and started GoFundMe pages for him.
01:11:17And he started collecting money,
01:11:20basically for brutally killing two young women.
01:11:35The attention was very upsetting to the families.
01:11:39To just think that women could be attracted to
01:11:42and giving attention to this man
01:11:44that really was a monster
01:11:46and who upended their lives,
01:11:48that was a really difficult thing to deal with.
01:11:59I think one thing about this case that stands out
01:12:03is how justice can't be served
01:12:06without people that are willing to come in and testify.
01:12:09You know someone by the name of Wade Wilson?
01:12:11Yes, ma'am.
01:12:12How do you know Wade Wilson?
01:12:13He's my son.
01:12:15How old were you when you found out
01:12:17you were going to be his father?
01:12:1914 or 15.
01:12:20How old was his mother at the time?
01:12:22A year younger than me.
01:12:24Was he placed up for adoption?
01:12:26Yes, ma'am.
01:12:28Christine Melton was my best friend and my cousin
01:12:32until October 7th, 2019.
01:12:35Did you have any contact with her
01:12:36after you left for work that day?
01:12:39A brief text message.
01:12:55She didn't think I'd give her a kiss goodbye.
01:13:00Had you?
01:13:01Of course.
01:13:05This was certainly a group effort of people in the community
01:13:09willing to come in and testify against someone
01:13:12who was so dangerous.
01:13:13And because of that, we were able to do what we did.
01:13:16We, the jury, find the defendant is guilty of first-degree murder.
01:13:21There are certain people who, I'll say it,
01:13:24they are poster children for the death penalty.
01:13:26And Wade Wilson is one of them.
01:13:29So our goal from the minute we knew
01:13:33what he had done to these two women
01:13:35was to receive a death penalty sentence.
01:13:40He killed for the sake of killing.
01:13:42That's what he wanted to do, and that's why he did it.
01:13:45I don't think there was any ounce of remorse whatsoever.
01:13:47The totality of the circumstances warrants
01:13:50that the defendant, Wade Stephen Wilson,
01:13:52be sentenced to death for each count of first-degree murder.
01:13:55Count one, first-degree murder of Christine Melton.
01:13:58The defendant is hereby sentenced to death.
01:14:01Count four, first-degree murder of Diane Ruiz.
01:14:04The defendant is hereby sentenced to death.
01:14:09When I heard that he got the death penalty,
01:14:12all I could think of was
01:14:14if the Palm Beach County sheriffs had done their job,
01:14:17these two women would probably still be here.
01:14:21So I filed a complaint
01:14:25against the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office
01:14:27for not thoroughly investigating my sexual assault.
01:14:31The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office
01:14:33did do an internal affairs investigation.
01:14:35At the end of the report,
01:14:37they did find that Detective Potter
01:14:38did not do a thorough investigation
01:14:40on the sexual assault of Kelly Matthews.
01:14:44Detective Potter was supposed to be suspended for three weeks,
01:14:46but he ended up only being suspended for two weeks.
01:15:10Wade ruined my trust in the dating world,
01:15:14but he didn't ruin my life.
01:15:16I have a great life.
01:15:19Assault is, like, such a dirty thing
01:15:23that no one wants to talk about it,
01:15:25and I refused to be one of those people.
01:15:31I'm not a victim.
01:15:32I'm a survivor,
01:15:33and I will always advocate for people
01:15:36that have gone through this
01:15:37and want to share their story,
01:15:40and if they're too afraid to,
01:15:43you know, they can always reach out to me
01:15:44and I'll help them.
01:15:45They shouldn't hide from this kind of stuff.
01:16:17I can't hide from it,
01:16:17but they can't—
