00:00We are talking with Hockey Hall of Famer Kevin Lowe here,
00:03and I found out that Edmonton had a whole bunch of winning going on back up
00:07in the day between the Oilers winning all those Stanley Cups
00:10and the Edmonton Eskimos with Warren Moon up there.
00:14That must have been quite a time up there during that span
00:17where you guys are winning, you're winning, you know, the Grey Cup,
00:21you're winning the Stanley Cup.
00:23That's a lot of winning going on at one time.
00:26Well, you know, it was so much winning that the city put big signs
00:31as you entered the city from all directions, City of Champions.
00:36You know, the Eskimos won many, many Grey Cup championships,
00:39but they were just in the midst of winning five in a row.
00:45And as I was mentioning earlier, we learned a lot.
00:50The Oilers started in the NHL in 1979, 1980 season.
00:55We had the good fortune to hang around with those guys.
00:58You know, they were a little bit older than us at the time,
01:01well-established professionals.
01:03And Hugh Campbell was their coach.
01:06I mean, I think Hugh was from University of Washington, just an amazing man.
01:12I mean, his favorite saying to a player when they over-celebrated,
01:17you know, after a touchdown, he'd pull a young guy aside and say,
01:21hey, act like you've been there before.
01:25And so that was, you know, a lot of those lessons we learned from the Eskimos
01:30in terms of respecting the opposition and, you know,
01:34hanging out as a team and, you know, team first mantra and stuff.
01:40They deserve a little credit for the five cups in seven years in Edmonton.
01:43So good.
01:44All right.
01:44You
