00:22One mistake out here could be the difference between life or death.
00:25You have no idea what you're going to encounter.
00:30People come up here, and when they're on the run...
00:32Keep running, keep running!
00:33They're there!
00:33And we'll find them.
00:34The allure to Alaska is just how wild it can be.
00:37Stop!
00:41Stop, or you're going to get tasered!
00:43Stop!
00:44It's Alaska State Troopers.
00:45You're on their left.
00:47Oh, stop.
00:49You don't have a boring day as a State Trooper in Alaska.
00:51Stop fire!
00:52Stop fire!
00:52Move them around!
00:53State Troopers!
00:54Do not move!
00:55Let me see your hands!
00:55Let's go!
00:56Please, radio check.
00:58Search for you.
00:59Please just be advised.
01:13I'm Trooper Anthony Bagari.
01:15I've been a State Trooper for almost a year now.
01:18As a law enforcement officer in Alaska, we find a lot of criminals who have out-of-state warrants on
01:24the run from the law.
01:25Alaska still has that frontier energy almost.
01:29If you have problems with the law and you keep your head down, you can kind of fly under the
01:33radar up here.
01:34They said he's previously trespassed.
01:36He's a convicted felon on probation and conditions released for being in possession of a firearm.
01:42Hostile threatens to burn down law enforcement.
01:46We just received a call of a disturbance at the Three Bears shop here in Big Lake.
01:51Sounds like there's a mail.
01:53He's refusing to leave.
01:54Says he's going to start beating up people.
01:57Email mobile on his motorcycle.
01:58I headed northbound towards Mars.
02:01The green and black motorcycle.
02:03He's got a backpack on.
02:05Mack, I'm 32.
02:06I see a motorcycle.
02:07Looks like it's green at the Big Lake Superstore.
02:12Hey boss, how you doing?
02:13Good, how you doing?
02:13This your motorcycle?
02:15Yes.
02:15Okay, gotcha.
02:16You mind talking with me over here for a second?
02:17You're not in too much trouble or anything like that.
02:19I just want to make sure you're doing it, okay?
02:21You got any weapons on you or anything like that?
02:22No, please don't touch me, sir.
02:24Okay, gotcha.
02:25Hey, man, I understand that right now, but for my safety, I understand you're at the Three Bears.
02:30I understand you're trespassed.
02:31That's not something I'm going to arrest you on, okay?
02:33So if that's what you're nervous for, keep your hands out of your pockets, away from your waistline.
02:36I'm angry because I'm an active duty Marine and I got kicked out for inviting Gatorade.
02:40Gotcha.
02:41I'm not trespassed from there.
02:42Can I get your name?
02:43Uh, yeah, my name is Christopher Hunt.
02:45Christopher Hunt?
02:46Yeah, I'm Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Hunt.
02:48Okay, gotcha.
02:49NCIC 1B32, the male's saying his name is Christopher Hunt.
02:52That's not the same name as the male we had previous, correct?
02:56It's false info, we're going to send a photo.
02:58So they were telling us a different name.
03:00Did you ever have a name change?
03:01Uh, yeah, no.
03:03Uh, recently.
03:04You know what I mean?
03:05Yeah.
03:05Gotcha.
03:06Do you have any tattoos, man?
03:07Yeah.
03:08You do?
03:08Okay, gotcha.
03:09And what's your name again?
03:10My name is Christopher Hunt.
03:12Yes.
03:12All right, man.
03:13So, I'm just going to pat you down for weapons.
03:15You're not going to jail or anything like that right now.
03:17Um, as I said, you got a pocket knife here?
03:20Or is this, uh, brass knuckles?
03:23Yeah, they're not brass.
03:24They're gold.
03:25They're from the deadline.
03:25They're gold knuckles?
03:26Yeah.
03:26I'm going to take those out for now.
03:28Absolutely.
03:29You're welcome to.
03:30Do you mind if I just take your wallet and look at your ID so I can tell my dispatch
03:32who
03:32I'm talking to?
03:33Okay, I can leave it in.
03:34Okay.
03:35Hey, man.
03:37Your dispatch knows my name.
03:38I'm a decorated veteran.
03:42Based on everything that's going on right now, you're going to be detained.
03:44Okay?
03:45So, put your hands in front of you.
03:46Okay.
03:47All right.
03:47We'll talk with you in a second.
03:50He gave me a false info.
03:52What's your name again?
03:53My name is Christopher Hunt.
03:54All right.
03:55I mean, he just keeps telling me his false name.
03:58He also had these on him.
03:59Oh, okay.
04:00So, we can book him on false info at the very minimum.
04:02First pass on the flip.
04:03Yeah, we can end with a B misdemeanor for that.
04:06Officer, there's a gentleman in the top store.
04:08Can you speak to him?
04:10He's the owner of the bike.
04:11He's the owner of the bike?
04:13Yeah, he is.
04:13Hey, sir.
04:14Oh.
04:15We thought we were just charging a couple misdemeanors, but it looks like we may be charging a felony
04:19because the owner of that motorcycle called into the Big Lake Superstore from Anchorage.
04:23My bike was inside the garage.
04:25He had access to the garage.
04:27There was paddle ops on the bike, and he was told, do not ride my bike.
04:30Don't take my bike.
04:32Okay.
04:32He cut them off with bolt cutters, and he's had it for days.
04:35He's just a .
04:36Mm-hmm.
04:37We're gonna charge with vehicle theft off that bicycle, which is a felony.
04:41Why are you taking me to jail?
04:43I didn't break any laws.
04:44They asked me to leave.
04:45I went outside of the store, and I was trying to leave.
04:47I can't start my motorcycle any faster.
04:49So, both of the plates don't come back to anyone you've named.
04:54So, right now, the bike's being held for investigation for theft.
04:59You have eight minutes to do an investigative stop, and you're far exceeded that.
05:02All right.
05:03All right.
05:04All right.
05:04All right.
05:26We received a call for a suspicious individual who had showed up on someone's property.
05:31When they contacted him, he said that he owned the place, which he didn't.
05:37So, this is gonna be the guy we're looking for.
05:39Trooper Bagari actually arrested him a couple of months ago,
05:42and he wouldn't identify himself or provided a false name.
05:45Today, he actually has an extraditable warrant for a federal misconduct involving weapons.
05:50So, we do have higher risk requiring multiple officers to respond.
05:54We're gonna send multiple units to see if we can't contact him.
05:59Just gonna drive around back.
06:01Back home, I mean, I'll be out of the vehicle behind the old three bears.
06:09Hey, how's it going?
06:10We're looking for somebody.
06:11Have you seen somebody carrying around a copper pipe?
06:15Yep.
06:15Just right on the side of the building.
06:17How long ago?
06:18Uh, like, two minutes ago.
06:22Is that police?
06:24Hey, how's it going?
06:25Good on you.
06:25Hi, police.
06:26Good on you.
06:26Good on you, honey.
06:27Have you seen Mr. walking around anywhere?
06:30He could be down that way.
06:31I know he was over that way the other day.
06:33They reported he may be headed towards the place.
06:38He was still carrying the pipe.
06:41Uh, we're gonna stop by a house.
06:42It's possible that he's been hanging out here.
06:51Hey, state groupers.
06:53Can you go to the door?
07:03Okay.
07:05If he shows back up, could you please give us a call?
07:12Apparently he was here earlier today.
07:15They were advised to contact.
07:17Hey.
07:19He's behind us.
07:35You're right.
07:36Pull your hands out.
07:36To your side.
07:38All right, let's move.
07:39Yep.
07:44All right.
07:49Feet.
07:50Oh yeah.
07:55My name is Christopher Hunt, for real, 100% a fact.
08:06This thing is three to four pounds, pretty heavy.
08:10I wouldn't want to get hit by it, that's for sure.
08:11No.
08:13He was probably actually headed back to the house that we were just at.
08:17It just so happens that as we were leaving, another trooper that was driving by saw him walking down the
08:23road.
08:24Knowing that he has extradition, U.S. Marshals weren't out for his arrest.
08:29The original charges as well are for a weapons offense, so we do have higher risk requiring multiple officers to
08:35respond.
08:36In this case, he just decided to lay down on the ground, which is excellent for us, right?
08:41That's what we want.
08:42All in all, a successful apprehension and arrest for him.
08:46Good job.
08:46Good job, team.
09:07Good job, team.
09:09Chirper Ternus.
09:10I've been a trooper for about a year and a half now.
09:12I'm currently working in Glen Ellyn.
09:14When I first got hired by the troopers, I was in Fairbanks, spent a little over a year there, and
09:20then I put in a bid to go to Glen Ellyn.
09:23There's some salmon fishing opportunities real close to here.
09:26There's some really cool hunting opportunities.
09:28We're real close to the Wrangles, and so there's some cool sheep hunting and some other hunting out there that
09:33I really wanted to do.
09:34It's definitely a much smaller town.
09:36Everybody definitely knows everybody.
09:38It feels like a lot more of a personal connection with everybody around town compared to a bigger place like
09:43Fairbanks.
09:45Hello?
09:466-4-9.
09:484-Vector-9.
09:49Confirming you're out with the NBC.
09:51We just got a call about a disturbance.
09:54We're familiar with who owns the number, so we're pretty sure it's coming from this apartment building.
10:06Hey, James, do you want to come talk to me, man?
10:09Yeah.
10:10What's going on, man?
10:11All right, so pretty much, um, her friend, she apparently lost her dog, and she's been drunk.
10:16Like, bro, she's drunk, bro.
10:18Yeah.
10:19She charged into my door, bro, took my bag, took some important paperwork, and I think my Social Security card,
10:25bro.
10:25She drives a white Impala, she's acting crazy, she's been drunk.
10:28Where's she at now?
10:29She drove the off.
10:31In a white Impala?
10:31Yep.
10:32Okay.
10:33Was there anything physical that happened between you two?
10:34No.
10:35Hell no, I didn't touch her, nothing.
10:36Who's she to you?
10:38She's supposed to be, she was supposed to be her friend.
10:40She's nothing to me, bro.
10:42We did a memorial down the river.
10:44Did you see her drink at all?
10:45I did.
10:46I did.
10:47Yeah, she's, she's like 20 shots in, bro.
10:48Yeah.
10:49She was seeing three of me, she told me in the car, in her car.
10:53Yep.
10:53Okay.
10:551B72.
10:56Are one of you able to clear for a single vehicle rollover mile 108 of the ridge?
11:02Looks like a white suburban.
11:04Oh, that's probably her.
11:05Hey, guys, I think we have enough initial information from you guys.
11:08I'm going to go help them out.
11:09We're the only two on right now, so we've got to go check that out.
11:14We just got a call about a crash.
11:16The vehicle matches that description.
11:18If she's as drunk as they're saying, good chance it's going to be our suspect that just crashed their car.
11:22So we're heading that way.
11:34Hey, hey, hey, hey, we've got to check you out, okay?
11:36No, they're going to go out!
11:39No!
11:40No!
11:49I'm going to go out of the way.
11:51I'm going to go out of the way, and it just rolled.
11:52It rolled a long ways.
11:54Thank you, sir.
11:55Thank you, sir.
11:55I'll be right here.
11:57This is going to be the female that was involved in our earlier call.
12:01It sounds like she was probably wasn't wearing her seatbelt, and she most likely ejected from the car.
12:08And so right now, we're just kind of letting medics do their thing and try to take care of her.
12:15Shooters all over.
12:17Hey, Derek.
12:18This is the one he was describing that she came in and grabbed.
12:21In the vehicle, I found multiple empty shooters.
12:23There's a few littered around outside the car as well.
12:25We also found the bag that James is describing as saying was stolen from his room just a little bit
12:30ago.
12:31She's going to be life-bedded.
12:32So if you want to start working on getting an alarm for her blood, maybe the life-bed people can
12:36take it.
12:37So she's probably going to end up getting flown out based on what's going on.
12:41We're not going to be able to do standardized field sobriety tests with the state she's in right now.
12:45So we have probably caused to believe that she's under the influence.
12:47So what we end up doing is calling the on-call judge.
12:49They'll issue us a search warrant to draw her blood so we can test it that way.
12:58Here you go, Harry.
12:59Copy.
13:01Ready?
13:04Get the head of that bed down, please, somebody.
13:07You can get that.
13:07I got it.
13:16I'm going to go back and speak to James, who's the original guy that we spoke with when this whole
13:22thing started.
13:28She crashed her car.
13:30She's going to probably end up getting flown out.
13:33So I'll be honest with you.
13:34It looks like she got ejected out of the car.
13:36Okay, hold on.
13:38Hold on.
13:38I don't know what her injuries are exactly.
13:40I know she was talking.
13:41She was breathing.
13:42I guess the big question here, are you wanting to press charges for theft or anything like that?
13:47Nah, you know what?
13:48Honestly, between me and you, I think that she has enough that she's dealing with.
13:55That's it, right?
13:57Yeah.
13:58Yes.
13:59Wallet.
14:00Okay.
14:00That's good.
14:01All right.
14:02See you so much.
14:05There's no DV relationship between her and them, and they don't want to press charges, so we're just going to
14:11end up trespassing her from their apartment.
14:12We're able to get him his property back that she took.
14:15But biggest thing is just making sure that we get her some help.
14:18That's kind of where we're at right now.
14:40My name is Cody Webb with the Alaska State Troopers.
14:43Today we're patrolling in the Palmer and Wasilla area.
14:46We deal with a lot of property crime, a lot of domestic violence, assaults, and things like that.
14:51And, unfortunately, some homicides and stuff like that once in a while as well.
14:571B22.
15:00There's a two-vehicle accident at KTP and Fairview Loop, both are 1097.
15:04They're not blocking the intersection, but there's a lot of debris.
15:0810-4-10-18.
15:09We're on our way to a two-car crash.
15:11We'll go there and check it out, make sure both drivers are good to go,
15:14and make sure that both are, you know, not impaired, and then send them on their way.
15:32Hello.
15:34I was not involved, but it was my wife.
15:37I'm sorry.
15:38Before we get there, we think the guy's been drinking.
15:41Okay.
15:42So, I just want to do it now.
15:43Which one?
15:45Okay.
15:46All right.
15:46So, you were not driving?
15:48No, my wife is the one involved in the accident.
15:50Okay.
15:51And which car?
15:52This one.
15:53That one.
15:53And then, sir, is this one yours?
15:55Okay.
15:55Do you have your ID on you, by chance?
15:57I'll wait for you over here.
15:58Perfect.
16:00Can you tell me what happened real quick?
16:02I thought I saw green.
16:04They thought they saw green.
16:06Okay.
16:06And how much alcohol have you had to drink today?
16:08A little bit.
16:09A little bit?
16:10Yeah.
16:10All right.
16:11So, on a scale from zero to ten, with zero being stone cold sober and ten being the most,
16:15like, impaired drunk you've ever been, where would you put yourself?
16:20Maybe at a four.
16:21About a four?
16:22Okay.
16:22Would you mind doing some tests with me to see if you were safe to be driving or not?
16:25I mean, we can, but we both know where I'm at now.
16:29Okay.
16:29Well, we're going to do some tests here.
16:31It's going to look like this.
16:32One, two, three, so on and so forth until you get to nine.
16:40It's heel to toe.
16:42Stepped offline.
16:43Almost fell.
16:44Crossed his feet.
16:45Hands up.
16:49Think an improper number of steps, improper turn.
16:53Never once touched heel to toe.
16:55All right, brother.
16:55Go ahead and turn around for me.
16:57Get in me.
16:57No, turn around.
16:58Put your hands behind your back.
16:59You're under arrest for DUI, okay?
17:01Yes, sir.
17:02All right, man.
17:02Let's walk back over towards the front of my car, okay?
17:04Just right here on the front.
17:07Have you ever been arrested for DUI before?
17:09Sir.
17:10How long ago?
17:12About eight years ago.
17:14Just the one time before?
17:15Okay.
17:16And I only had a couple drinks.
17:18I didn't think I was bad.
17:20I was like, damn.
17:21Okay.
17:24Perfect.
17:25All right, brother.
17:25So just sit tight for a little bit.
17:28The car reeks of alcohol.
17:31Okay, we got multiple empty shooter bottles.
17:35Another shooter bottle, and it's empty.
17:38He's got, jeez, two, four, six, eight, 10, 12, 14 empty shooters behind the driver's seat.
17:48Holy smokes.
17:50Four, eight.
17:56Twenty-one empty shooters in the rear passenger seat.
18:02He had 40-something empty shooters, multiple empty cans, and a whole other 12-pack just ready to go inside
18:09the car.
18:09So good to get him off the road.
18:11Unfortunately, I had to involve a crash with this nice lady who didn't have anything to do with it.
18:15So he's under arrest for DUI.
18:17Both vehicles are getting towed, and I'm going to take him and book him into jail.
18:41Sounds like two individuals have gone into an argument with another person that was trying to take property.
18:46So he apparently brandished some sort of firearm at the complainant, and then left the area in a black Mazda
18:53pickup.
18:55Mario, I'll be 36 on that.
18:57Yeah, you're close.
19:04Driver, hands out the window!
19:07That sounds like Hayley's got one at the end point.
19:16Shut up the ignition!
19:18Hands up so I can see them!
19:2024-23, okay.
19:29Driver, cross your ankles!
19:33Put your hands up in the air!
19:39Do not move from that position!
19:44Do not move!
19:48Give me the other hand.
19:52Do you have anything that's going to poke us, perk us?
19:55Knives, weapons, guns, anything like that.
19:58Player, roll up on your knees.
20:01Stand up.
20:04Why am I being arrested?
20:06You're not arrested, you're just being saved for right now.
20:10I didn't do anything wrong.
20:12Okay, because the information that we have was basically a burglary in progress, and that there might have been weapons
20:17involved.
20:18So, that said, can you kind of tell me what you guys were doing today?
20:21Okay.
20:23I told her I'd take her, because she'd been talking about her vehicle.
20:26She was worried that people had parted it out, like they'd already taken the front bumper and the grill.
20:31And then, as soon as we got there, some dude was like, you have one minute to leave the property,
20:36or I'm calling the troopers.
20:38And as soon as he said that, I was like, hey, let's get the f*** out of here, let's go.
20:41Okay, any explicit threats made?
20:44No.
20:45So, you said that the gun was pointed at somebody.
20:47Hell no.
20:48Okay.
20:49No weapons are in that truck that you know of?
20:52No.
20:53Hang out with this trooper here.
20:54I'm going to go talk to her, okay?
20:57All I know is she said, hey, take me to my vehicle.
21:01I drove her there, just here to help a friend out.
21:07Okay.
21:08How long has your vehicle been there?
21:10So, it's been there since last fall.
21:13The lady next door, she knew it was my truck.
21:15She knew I was working on it.
21:16She had no problem with me working on it.
21:18It's the last time I was there.
21:19So, I had no idea that she would have a problem now.
21:21At any point during this argument, did anybody have any kind of weapons?
21:24No.
21:25Okay.
21:25Maybe there wasn't even voices raised.
21:27The original call came in that there were weapons involved, and she's saying, no, it
21:30sounds like maybe a threat of a weapon?
21:32None.
21:32A threat of, I'm going to shoot you or something like that?
21:34No, why?
21:35I don't know.
21:37No.
21:37Okay.
21:37I'm not that aggressive.
21:39She knew me.
21:39I had no idea that she would even have a problem with me going out there.
21:42So, here's what's going to happen, okay?
21:43You're being officially trespassed from that property, okay?
21:46And we don't get involved in civil issues.
21:47Okay.
21:48That's why there's a whole branch of the courthouse called the Civil Courts.
21:50Okay, well, guess what?
21:51The last time I was there, she was more than polite to me.
21:54Well, I'm telling you what needs to happen is the only way you can go back on that property
21:58without getting in criminal trouble is to have either a writ of assistance or have some
22:02kind of quarter that gives you permission to be on that property, okay?
22:05Okay.
22:05I'll be back with you in a second.
22:10So, you're going to be released here shortly.
22:12However, that vehicle has to get impounded because it doesn't have any kind of plates on
22:15it, okay?
22:16So, we have a tow truck coming for it.
22:18It's going to get towed, okay?
22:19Other than that, though, we're basically done with you.
22:22All right, go ahead and set it up for me.
22:24All right.
22:24I'll go ahead and get these off for you, okay?
22:27This is kind of partially a civil issue, but also partially a criminal trespass and maybe
22:31a minor theft.
22:33The good news is there is no weapons in the vehicle.
22:36But this kind of comes to show how we get information one way, and in reality, it's different,
22:42but we're still acting off that information as we're bidding it as if it's real.
22:46So, I'm Trooper Weeks.
23:01Well, I came up to Alaska at the end of 2019.
23:04Got stationed up here at Isleson Air Force Base.
23:07Fixing planes and making them fly was pretty cool, but that was, like, 10% of the job.
23:12The rest of the job was, like, very predictable.
23:16I kind of wanted something that was going to be different every day.
23:19Didn't really know what you're walking into.
23:35So, the call is an individual who's trying to strike people for no apparent reason.
23:43Fairbanks, 2019, out with 44.
23:51Oh, he wants to bring it on camera.
23:54He's, uh, he's backed up from it.
23:57He's, uh...
23:58I'm crazy, losing my mind.
24:00Why is my truck being followed every night?
24:02Why are you so worked up right now?
24:02Why is this that dirt?
24:03If it wants me to keep on going...
24:05Hey, if you keep being hostile with me, we're going to put you in handcuffs.
24:07You understand?
24:08Hey, you're not free to go.
24:09You're not going to walk away.
24:10I'm trying to go get my vehicle so I don't get dinner.
24:12No, that's not going to happen.
24:13I could be angry anywhere I want.
24:14It's America.
24:15Okay, you're done.
24:16What the f*** done?
24:18I didn't do nothing.
24:22What have I done?
24:23You're tensing up, raising your voice.
24:26I want the Fairbanks police right here.
24:28For your own safety.
24:28In the middle of this f***ing town, I should be able to have that.
24:32But no, the troopers are going to take me.
24:33What happens?
24:34Can I be left here until the Fairbanks police come here?
24:37Hey, if the circumstances allow, then you'll be free to go, okay?
24:40But right now, we're working on figuring that out, okay?
24:43Okay.
24:43You're going to have a seat over here, okay?
24:45Until we get things figured out, okay?
24:49Man, we're trying to help you out.
24:51Have you dealt with them before?
24:52No.
24:53We have some significant mental health issue.
24:56Absolutely.
24:57So.
24:58Okay, partner, come walk over here to our carriage real quick, okay?
25:02Why do I?
25:03Where's the Fairbanks police?
25:04The Fairbanks police aren't coming.
25:05Okay, they're not coming.
25:06No.
25:07My old lady will make sure they come.
25:09Baby, no.
25:10You're just going to sit in here for a second.
25:12Hey, they're trying to detain me.
25:13You are...
25:13So make sure the Fairbanks police come here.
25:16You got a needle in here.
25:17I always have a needle.
25:18Don't fight it.
25:19I'm not...
25:20What am I fighting?
25:22I was yelled.
25:23That's it.
25:25My reality is skewed to take my truck to the Fairbanks police department.
25:30Or see who's connected to through what?
25:33Channels.
25:34Oh, turbo tags and titles.
25:36That's part of it too.
25:37Oh, dude, I need to keep on going.
25:39Let me go then.
25:40Or I will have it nationally known.
25:43The truth.
25:44Listen, she's trying to tell you, man.
25:46She's trying to talk to you, man.
25:47You need help, dude.
25:48I can yell when I want to yell.
25:50That's not the problem.
25:51I can scream how I want to scream.
25:53I'm an American.
25:54It's my right.
25:54Well, when you get physical, it's a problem.
25:56We're going to go.
25:57This is...
25:57Freedom is a problem.
25:59Me yelling is a problem.
26:01Baby, no, you're making it worse.
26:03Stop it.
26:05We're talking Title 47 versus felony offense here.
26:09I think right now, titling is a good option.
26:13It's going to put them someplace to be evaluated for the next 20 hours.
26:17Okay.
26:19Hi, ma'am.
26:20Hi, ma'am.
26:21Trooper Weeks.
26:22Right now, he's going to go in for what's called a Title 47.
26:25It's not a criminal charge.
26:27It seems like he's got some stuff going on right now.
26:29No, he's not.
26:31Okay.
26:32Thank you, guys.
26:32And so I feel like this is going to be the safest outcome for him as well as the rest
26:36of the community, okay?
26:38All right.
26:38Thank you, guys.
26:39Yes, ma'am.
26:40Have a good night.
26:40I hope your evening gets better, okay?
26:44All right, so right now, Trooper Evans is going to transport this individual to the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital in Alaska.
26:52That's something that we can do rather than immediately charge them with a crime,
26:55is we can take them to get mental health resources to help them out and render aid to them
26:59and get him mentally on the right track where he needs to be.
27:13I'm Trooper Scott McAfee.
27:14I'm with the Alaska State Troopers Criminal Suppression Unit.
27:18Today, we're following up on this kidnapping-slash-assault case that came into patrol last night.
27:25Two guys accused another of stealing a gun and a backpack and a debit card from him.
27:31So they essentially abducted this dude in a truck, took him over to a house, tortured him by pistol whipping
27:38him and stuff,
27:39and saying they were going to throw him in the Tanana River and kill him.
27:43And then they ended up shooting him in the leg with a high-powered pellet gun through his bone and
27:47almost out the other side.
27:49So we're going to go to a couple of these different locations that he was at while he was bleeding
27:53and try to find the blood at the locations and corroborate the store.
27:58Based on these guys' history, we're going to use SWAT team to execute the warrant.
28:08This is this place right here.
28:11Oh.
28:12Is the vehicle backing out of there?
28:16That's where I got the button cut here.
28:20Looks like a female driver, single occupant of the vehicle.
28:2610-4.
28:31I don't really know who's actually there.
28:32You just left there.
28:33Yeah, but I don't know who's there now.
28:35Who was there when you left?
28:38My boyfriend was there, and then I think his friend...
28:42Okay.
28:51Fairmanks 2023, driver of the vehicle is going to be a girlfriend.
28:55She confirmed and are at the residence right now.
28:59I think we need to bump a couple of units up and keep eyes on the residence now so these
29:05guys don't leave.
29:09Hey.
29:10Hey, all right, so do you think they'd be cooperative with us to come out for this search warrant,
29:15or we're going to have to make a big...
29:17Okay.
29:18Okay.
29:19All right, so what we'll probably do is have you call them when we roll up and have them
29:23come on out, okay?
29:24Okay.
29:24Can we see...
29:25Can I see the search warrant?
29:26Yeah, absolutely.
29:27Before we do that, I'll let you see the search warrant before you do anything.
29:29Okay?
29:29It's fair?
29:30Yeah.
29:31Let me see your search warrant.
29:33Okay.
29:33Okay.
29:34Yes.
29:34Just have them come out with hands up and walk through us, okay?
29:38Okay.
29:41Be advised, female is trying to call, and they are not answering from inside.
29:47Hey, keep your hands up.
29:48All right.
29:49Come back to me.
29:50Hey, we're in contact with a couple people over there.
29:53One of them looks like...
29:55The one in front of Mitten.
29:57We have...
29:59There's only one of them...
30:01...still in the house or around the property somewhere.
30:05Units on scene.
30:06Let's set a perimeter on this place right now and lock it down.
30:11We'll have SWAT on the way soon.
30:13I just heard something rattle in one of these vehicles over here.
30:17This way?
30:17Yeah.
30:18Okay.
30:19State troopers!
30:23State troopers!
30:24Oh, what the...
30:26Is that a dead body?
30:31That's creepy.
30:33I thought that was a real person there for a second.
30:35I was like, oh, is that a dead body?
30:38No, just a doll.
30:39Yeah, that's really weird.
30:42So SWAT's on scene.
30:44They're taking command of the tactical portion of this,
30:46so they're going to clear the junkyard and then clear the house.
30:49Then we will do our search of the residents.
30:51All right.
30:52Ready to move?
30:52This is the Alaska State troopers with a search warrant.
30:59We're going to have you guys set the chains.
31:03What we'll probably end up doing is have you set an EV on that front door.
31:06Are you ready to do that?
31:07Yeah.
31:09This is the Alaska State troopers.
31:10We have a search warrant for the residents.
31:13Exit through the front door slowly with your hands in the air.
31:20This is the Alaska State troopers.
31:22Move away from the front door now or you may be injured.
31:25Set for bridge.
31:27Three, two, one.
31:29One.
31:32Ready?
31:36The SWAT team is continuing the clearing of the structure.
31:40They'll go in in person and check the rest of the place.
31:43This is a nightmare here, guys.
31:45Just crap everywhere.
31:48We got a drone up overhead.
31:49He likely is either in the house just barricading
31:52or decided to run when he first showed up.
31:55You know, it was dark and he could have easily slipped away into the woods.
31:59Clear.
32:02Hey, you just got some sort of rifle out of the truck.
32:04Here.
32:05Yep.
32:06It looks like an air rifle.
32:07Okay.
32:08Let's take that.
32:09Yep, that's a pellet rifle.
32:11So we will take that and then we can show that to the victim later,
32:14see if that's the one he used.
32:16Is that a brake barrel?
32:17Yeah.
32:18There you go.
32:19All right, so SWAT searched the house and the perimeter of the house
32:23and he's not on scene and we got information that he did
32:26that someone in the neighborhood saw us in the neighborhood
32:28and tipped him off and he rode away on a four-wheeler before we got here.
32:35There's a T.O. or a gray Ford Mustang.
32:37He says there would have guns in there.
32:39And the cabin has guns in it, too.
32:41Gotcha.
32:42So let's walk up in this little trail and see what we find.
32:51Oh, there's an old Mustang.
32:59There they are.
33:10Oh, is that a suppressor?
33:14Yes, it is.
33:16It's got a barcode on it.
33:18I wonder if we can find where that came from.
33:21Find it.
33:22Yeah.
33:24Got some assault rifles and suppressors.
33:27Did you guys get into that cabin?
33:29Yeah, we found the key.
33:31A lot of guns?
33:32Got one of these guns back.
33:33Oh, for real?
33:34Yeah.
33:34Oh, wow.
33:35This is great.
33:36It's gorgeous.
33:37So this is great.
33:38We had, a couple years ago, a huge burglary with a bunch of guns stolen from a mining company,
33:44actually.
33:45This gun came back matched by serial number.
33:48All right, so we're searching the entire premises here.
33:51We have plenty to get an arrest warrant for kidnapping, like assault one, probably terroristic
33:57threatening, a litany of felony charges that he's going to be on the run for now.
34:01And then we'll pick up our other side of how we do things and hunt him down.
34:06We'll get you.
34:26It turned in right before we're reporting in the United States.
34:29Do I have a copy?
34:31Someone called in saying that they had impounded a blue Hummer a while back.
34:36And that Hummer was just running red lights, turning his hazards on and off.
34:41So, see if we can catch up with him and see what his deal is.
34:48There he is.
34:54Do you want to put the knife in the car, please?
34:57Yeah.
34:58So what's going on?
34:59What do you mean?
35:01Well, we got multiple calls about you driving, running red lights and swerving all over the
35:05road.
35:05No brakes on this one.
35:06That's what they impounded.
35:07I just bailed my car out.
35:08This is your vehicle?
35:09Yeah.
35:10They suggested you probably not drive because there's no brakes, right?
35:13I'm going home.
35:13I live in the ranch.
35:14Well, you're not going to drive this vehicle to the ranch.
35:16I can tell you that.
35:17There's no brakes.
35:18You're not driving this vehicle.
35:19They have brakes.
35:20Well, you ran a red light, right?
35:21Because of no brakes.
35:22One time, sir.
35:23That's one time too many.
35:28I'm not going to let you drive this vehicle.
35:29Is it here?
35:30Can you talk to him, please?
35:32Yeah, we can go talk with him.
35:36If I leave my vehicle overnight, I don't have no brakes.
35:40Here's your ID.
35:41Sorry about that, officer.
35:43Well, you knew that the brakes weren't working, right?
35:45Yeah, I did.
35:46I'm going to let Knight shift know that if they see this vehicle driving around on the road,
35:50then you're going to be in some trouble, okay?
35:52So get it towed or whatever you need to do.
35:54I'll get a trailer tomorrow.
35:55You're right.
35:55You're scared.
35:56You almost hit somebody.
35:57Yeah, I bet.
36:00If he would have been driving on the road and I caught him driving on the road,
36:03it would have been impounded.
36:05But he's able to make it to a parking spot.
36:09So hopefully it stays there overnight.
36:15One of our day shift officers was in contact with a subject that we know to be a little bit
36:23unstable.
36:24And he drives this military vehicle.
36:27I've told him multiple times not to put it on the road.
36:31And he becomes super, super hostile.
36:34So we're going to contact Trooper Lewis, who has him stopped right now.
36:4018th 23.
36:45And I see you come down this way.
36:47And I turn around, turn my lights on, and you dip back here.
36:51I try to get hold of my people who can't give me right.
36:53I can't get hold of nobody.
36:55Everybody busy.
36:56And I took a chance.
36:58I took a risk again.
36:59Okay.
37:00Hang out here.
37:00I'm talking to this Trooper.
37:02So he actually ran it into his neighbor's fence about a month ago
37:06because it didn't have brakes.
37:07So he's known it hasn't had brakes for at least a month, if not more.
37:12I'll side him and impound it.
37:14Okay.
37:15All right, boss.
37:16So do you remember me?
37:17I came out when you ran into your neighbor's fence?
37:20Yeah.
37:20Yeah, yeah.
37:21So you've known this thing shouldn't be on the road for quite some time, right?
37:24Yeah.
37:25I just got it from impound $840.
37:27I can afford them to lose a vehicle.
37:29Okay.
37:29Well, we are taking the vehicle.
37:32I'll be very clear.
37:33The common origin of a trailer, please.
37:35My decision was made before I even got here.
37:38We are taking the vehicle.
37:39Oh.
37:39All right.
37:40Officer, please, man.
37:42No.
37:43You ask me again, and it's not going to end well.
37:46The answer is no.
37:47I am taking the vehicle.
37:50You have a really hard time following instructions.
37:53Are you hearing me?
37:55Yeah.
37:55Okay.
37:57NCIC 1B18, would you start me at 51?
37:59We're going to be impounding it for an unsafe vehicle.
38:01Okay.
38:01When there's equipment issues, we like to stop people, educate them, and have them fix it.
38:07In this particular case, he's been told over and over and over.
38:12Less than an hour prior to our contact, another trooper had said, if it's on the road, we're going to
38:17impound it.
38:17He just paid nearly $900 to get it out of impound today and put it right back on the road.
38:25It's obviously a tremendous hazard.
38:29Too many cars out, too many populated areas between where we stopped him and where he lives.
38:34So letting that vehicle go was just not an option.
38:55So Trooper Marble just came over the radio and said that he is currently in contact with the suspect of
39:03a stolen vehicle.
39:06So we're going to head that way to back him up.
39:10You don't know how they're going to act.
39:12So you always want to have at least a second unit on the way, just in case something does happen.
39:19Back on 49, 1023.
39:33How'd the car end up here?
39:37So to your knowledge, it's her car?
39:39No.
39:40To my knowledge, she borrowed the car.
39:42She borrowed the car?
39:43Yeah.
39:43OK.
39:43So why are you loading it up with stuff?
39:45Because we were going to go to the salvage yard and sell some copper and brass fittings.
39:52And she wanted to drop those tires off at her house.
39:58So she was going to go to the salvage yard with you?
40:02Returning the car on the way.
40:03I can go in there with him while you guys figure that out.
40:07All right.
40:09Trooper Marble was driving around and noticed a stolen vehicle was in the driveway here and determined that was the
40:16one that had the keys and was the one that brought the vehicle here.
40:40Trooper Marble made the decision to arrest here for being in possession of a stolen item.
40:49When I went inside and contacted her, she had the keys in her pocket, which is being in control of
40:55the vehicle because she has the only way to drive it.
40:59She was wearing a wig when we contacted her and inside the vehicle on the dash there is a wig.
41:05There are two phones in there which she said were just given to her.
41:08And then there's copper, a thermos, tires and a bunch of other miscellaneous parts and pieces that came off of
41:16this property and were also put inside the car.
41:27The owner of the vehicle is now on scene.
41:31I just pulled this down to collect the rest of this wig for evidence.
41:36And I noticed this just fall into the seat right here.
41:39And it just states that John here is selling our suspect the vehicle for $100.
41:45Is that your handwriting?
41:47No.
41:47Okay.
41:48So you didn't write this letter stating that you are signing over this vehicle for $100 to .
41:55No.
41:56She's going to be charged with vehicle theft because we can place her in the vehicle the day that it
42:02was stolen with the keys and driving around.
42:04It's a great question than a time.
42:08What a person who can do is need to do is lead to really clear the things that you will
