00:32Over the next five days, we're going to be racing to see who can get more of them.

01:02Here's how it works.
01:06At the end of five days, the team with the most stations under their control wins.
01:10In order to take control of the station, teams must physically travel to it,
01:13and then place down some number of the game's currency, which we're calling chips.
01:17But we'll need to be careful because claiming a station doesn't mean we'll control it forever.
01:21If the other team goes to that same station and puts down more chips, they'll steal control of it.
01:26Each team starts with 50 chips, but can earn more by completing challenges, which are spread across the map.
01:32Each challenge is worth a different number of chips based on how hard or how risky it will be to
01:36complete it.
01:37For now, that's all you need to know.
01:38So now both teams have got to look at their options and decide where they'll want to head first to
01:42start earning chips and claiming stations.

05:30Dayan Park is an iconic birdwatching location in the heart of Taipei.
05:35Go to this sign, which lists 33 bird types that can be found in the park.
05:38One team member must attempt to memorize these birds.
05:41Once ready, the other team member will go and photograph a bird and then present it to the memorizer.
05:46The memorizer, without looking at the sign, gets one guest to successfully identify the bird.
05:51If they fail, they may reattempt once with a new bird.
05:54I've never had a good time with an animal challenge.
05:57I'm pretty good at spotting animals.

07:26Now that Ben and Adam are heading west to claim their first stations of the game,
07:29I need to explain one last thing.
07:32While traveling is free, teams can only travel through stations that belong to them.
07:37If they're traveling through uninclaimed territory like they are right now,
07:40they need to put down at least one chip on each station to add them to their territory as they
07:44head down the line.
07:45If they ran out of chips, they'd only be able to travel back to stations they already own.
07:50That means that claiming stations is not only useful for earning points,
07:53but also for controlling certain parts of the map.
07:56If Mike and I want to travel along this same line,
07:58it's now going to cost us more because we have to flip each station to our side if we want
08:03to travel through them.
08:04Putting down big claims on important lines can be enough to completely block your opponent
08:08from entering certain parts of the map,
08:10and controlling the right areas at the right time is going to be the key to dominating this game.
08:15Here's one thing, Adam.
08:17So right now we're about to pass through this station, Bankiau.
08:21This is a station that is both high speed and low speed.
08:24Like if you want to go anywhere in the west, you've got to pass through here.
08:27So maybe it would be worth it to just fortify this station.

08:36By the way, a team isn't allowed to control a station by more than five chips.
08:39So for an unclaimed station like Bankiau, five is the maximum amount Ben and Adam can put down.

14:29gives us a lot of freedom to run without feeling like they'll take it over yeah and we can kind

14:34build like a bit of a fortress from taipei to really disincentivize them from ever competing
14:40right okay next question is what do we do on the line we're going to hutong what if we did

14:46stations with five in a row yes build a wall yes then one on the rest that because we we
14:51do have a
14:51balance we do have a bigger balance i feel very good about that and then all the other ones we

17:10begin their attempt if they step on the wrong rock or deviate from the path in any way they are
17:15incinerated and the challenge is failed all right ben we have to pick one of us to memorize how
17:22confident do you feel um well i'll note that i'm very hungry um i was trying to get a snack
17:29earlier and
17:30i failed i do think that historically i have been slightly better at memorization challenges than
17:36yeah that is pretty clever nope that is pretty clear
17:43oh i turned around too early the driver doesn't worry if he takes the journey slow

17:56you do have a very good memory so here's something that i think we could establish now before looking

41:50this kind of challenge works most challenges on the board are just worth a flat number of chips
41:55like that tofu rocks one but in a call your shot challenge like this one we set the reward ourselves
42:01the higher the reward we set the harder the challenge becomes and if we don't hit the level
42:06we set for ourselves we earn nothing instead there are a few other types of rewards that'll come up
42:11later like multiplier challenges that multiply our whole chip balance or seal challenges that steal a
42:16certain percentage of the other team's chips those are going to matter a lot but we don't have to
42:20worry about them until one comes up for now let me read the rules of this challenge
42:25be in the hot seat you are now at one of geoxy's many famous hot springs but you aren't here
42:30to relax
42:31you are in the hot seat while in a hot spring one team member must correctly answer as many trivia
42:36questions as they can in 60 seconds questions may be skipped but can only be answered once you can earn
42:42eight chips per correctly answered question but you must call your shot if you do not reach the number
42:47of correct answers you predicted within the 60 seconds you earn nothing and the challenge is failed
42:51the question asker can read the questions before you call your shot but cannot discuss any specifics
42:57with their teammates that makes sense at a hot springs so one person will ask the other person answers
43:02but it's a call your shot we have to decide in advance how many we think we'll get right okay
43:07then they appear to be doing a challenge at a hot spring this one was one of the variable ones
43:12yeah this is a call your shot so you know we have to hope that one of two things happens
43:19one they play it so conservative that they barely get anything or two they get cocky they call too
43:28high of a number and then they can't pull it off look if i were them i would be feeling
