00:00Michael Jackson fans won't be seeing Kat Graham as Diana Ross in the upcoming biopic, Michael.
00:07The actress revealed on social media Thursday that her scenes portraying the legendary Supreme Singer were ultimately cut from the
00:14Lionsgate film due to what she called, quote,
00:17certain legal considerations.
00:19In a post to X ahead of the film's April 24th release, Graham wrote,
00:23I want to share that certain legal considerations affected a few scenes, including ones I filmed with an incredible cast.
00:30Unfortunately, these moments are no longer part of the final cut, though the team worked hard to preserve as much
00:36of the story as possible.
00:38Directed by Antoine Fuqua, Michael stars Jafar Jackson, the late singer's nephew, in the title role.
00:44Alongside Coleman Domingo as Joe Jackson and Nia Long as Catherine Jackson,
00:49Miles Teller, Laura Harrier, and Lorenz Tate round up the rest of the cast.
00:53While Graham did not specify the legal issues, the Hollywood Reporter previously reported that an earlier version of the film
00:59included a third act
01:00addressing child sexual abuse allegations against Jackson.
01:04That storyline was later reworked after complications tied to a past settlement involving one of Jackson's accusers who had agreed
01:12not to be dramatized.
01:13A second film focusing on the later years of Jackson's life leading up to his 2009 death remains in development
01:19at Lionsgate.
01:20Jackson famously shared a close bond with Diana Ross dating back to his Jackson five days,
01:26with his brother Jermaine once saying Michael wrote the 1992 song Remember the Time with Ross in mind.
01:32Graham is best known for her role in The Vampire Diaries and has recently appeared in Love in the Villa
01:37and Tyler Perry's Duplicity.
