00:03Pandora!
00:04What you need to do is get control of Pandora.
00:07If dogs go wild...
00:10They are absolutely nuts.
00:12Is the dog around?
00:15I can't control them.
00:17Come on now big boy.
00:18Nathan thinks he can read.
00:19Surely he can.
00:20It can't.
00:21Is it dog?
00:22Of course he can.
00:22And get up!
00:23Oh, there we go.
00:24No, get down.
00:25To no good.
00:26No, it's me now, is it.
00:28I'm honoured.
00:28or down
00:29and dirty
00:31He loves a big, large crap
00:36Tank likes to rub his boy part
00:39What is going on with you, Tank?
00:41When pups
00:42I wonder what we're going to learn today
00:44need to be schooled
00:463, 2, 1, sit
00:48Fantastic, look at that
00:50Or if your pooch
00:52He's dropped one
00:53Has a personal problem
00:55Some dogs have bacterias
00:57that are gas-producing
00:59Just in case
01:01One man
01:02Hey, look at that
01:03Will give it his all
01:05Leave it
01:08And get answers
01:09I think I might know what's going on
01:11and it's not what you think
01:12To any doggy dilemma
01:14Yeah, that's next level, isn't it?
01:20You're right? Stop it!
01:22This week
01:23Oh, no
01:24A cockapoo's dirty obsession
01:28Straight out of her backside
01:29Is turning an entire community's stomach
01:32It is the most gross thing
01:35that I've ever seen
01:36No!
01:37Back at Graham's puppy school
01:39Grab a seat, by the way
01:40A new student disrupts class
01:42Oh, dear
01:44He's like, blimey, okay
01:46First day at school
01:47And could this be
01:48the most destructive dog ever?
01:50He's got me
01:51Crikey
01:52I mean, he's next level, that dog
01:53I don't remember walking into a house
01:55and seeing it quite like that
01:56Thousands of pounds
01:58of stuff that he's destroyed
01:59But who's really to blame for the carnage?
02:03Is Grandad tough or soft?
02:05Soft
02:10Graham's at home
02:11fueling up for a full-on week ahead
02:14Bacon, you can't beat it, can you?
02:17I'm a man of simple taste, really
02:19But I know when to stop
02:20But I'm going to go see a dog
02:22who will eat and eat and eat
02:24So, um
02:25I'm going to make sure
02:26I've eaten this bacon, but
02:27see if you've got to get anywhere near him
02:28Or it'll be gone
02:32Over in Bexley, South East London
02:34Beauty therapist Trish
02:36Cockapoo Huey
02:37and his mum Lucy
02:39Come on
02:40You little poopinator
02:41Are desperate for Graham's help
02:43I'm really excited to meet Graham today
02:46Hopefully he can help me
02:48with this situation
02:50Graham needn't have worried
02:52about that bacon sarnie
02:53What's he doing?
02:56Oh, no
02:58Ten-month-old Huey
03:01Is after a much dirtier breakfast
03:05Straight out of her backside as well
03:07Huey, stop, stop
03:09Dirty boy
03:11Stop
03:12Morning, you must be Trish
03:14Yes, I am
03:15Nice to meet you
03:16Yeah
03:17That's not very nice
03:19No
03:19Don't you feed him?
03:20I definitely feed him
03:23He just prefers dog sausage
03:25Doesn't he?
03:25Yeah
03:26Huey seems to be taking the poo
03:29in Cockapoo
03:30Very literally
03:31Huey!
03:32Huey's favourite snack
03:34in the whole wide world
03:35is definitely
03:36a big
03:37large
03:38crap
03:38Huey!
03:40Stop it!
03:41The smellier and the more fresh it is
03:43the better
03:44So fresh
03:45Huey, stop
03:46He doesn't wait for it to hit the ground
03:48He will try to eat it directly as it's coming out of their bums
03:53Oh my God
03:56Huey!
03:57He'd probably eat as much as he can
03:59like it would literally be a poo buffet
04:02Huey, stop
04:03And he's not picky
04:04Is he eating more poo?
04:06Are you?
04:07Other dog walkers
04:08they must be thinking
04:09it's really
04:10disgusting
04:12No
04:12Huey
04:13It makes me feel
04:15completely sick
04:16Oh
04:17No
04:18Not the sort of thing you want to be seeing
04:20especially not first thing in the morning
04:22Huey!
04:23No matter how fast Trish is
04:24Stop it!
04:25Huey still pops up in the right place
04:27for a whiffy Mr Whippy
04:30Huey has got a detector
04:32for when dogs are laying down their poo
04:35It's like he can hear it coming down the intestines
04:38It must be like when you hear the ice cream fan coming
04:41and it's all like
04:42Do-do-do-do-do-do-do
04:46Huey!
04:47He can hear that coming from the dog's arse basically
04:51Stop it!
04:53I don't know if it's a behavioural issue
04:55or if it's something more serious
04:57like a deficiency that he has
04:59so it would be good to get to the bottom of it
05:03No pun intended
05:04To stop Huey's horrid habit
05:07Naughty boy
05:08Graham needs to know what's causing it
05:11Why do you think he does it?
05:13I have no idea
05:14I wish I knew
05:15Okay
05:16I wish I knew
05:17I'll be honest
05:18Yeah
05:18It's not as rare as you think
05:20to see a dog eat poo
05:21Yeah
05:21But it's really rare to see a dog
05:23do what your dog's doing
05:25I know
05:25You know
05:26Straight from the source
05:27Oh God
05:29He's doing it again
05:31Huey!
05:33Ugh
05:34Dirty dog
05:36Do you worry about
05:37you know
05:38what could be in that poo?
05:39Definitely
05:40There have been times
05:41I've had to take Huey to the vets
05:43not long ago actually
05:45and the vets said
05:46that he had colitis
05:48and that it was likely
05:50the cause was
05:51from eating so much poo
05:52That's inflammation of the colon
05:55This is one of those cases
05:56that's kind of funny
05:57on the surface
05:58and you have a bit of a
05:59oh no giggle about it
06:00but once you've got over that
06:02you realise that
06:03actually this is quite serious
06:06So Lucy's mum
06:07Huey's the son of
06:09How come you ended up
06:10with the two of them?
06:11Lucy
06:11when she was given birth
06:12we found out that
06:13she actually had
06:14ten puppies
06:15Wow
06:16inside
06:16and unfortunately
06:17two of the puppies
06:18were stuck in the birth canal
06:20Huey was the only survivor
06:22Oh wow
06:22Out of all ten?
06:23Yeah
06:23Out of the whole ten
06:25Lucy was so unwell
06:27after the birth
06:28Trish had to step in
06:30When he was a baby
06:31and he was born
06:32I had to hand rear him
06:34and he would just
06:35love to have
06:36skin connection
06:37It was almost like
06:39having a real baby
06:41Sole survivor
06:43Huey and Trish
06:44became inseparable
06:46I love Lucy
06:47but the bond
06:48is even stronger
06:50with Huey
06:51which is why
06:52I really don't want
06:53to have to
06:54think about
06:55rehoming him
06:56How do you feel
06:57about this
06:58for the next
06:5815 years?
07:00I need to be able
07:01to find a solution
07:02to deal with this
07:03because it's just
07:04disgusting
07:05Yeah
07:06I love him
07:07I love him
07:07but this has got
07:08to stop
07:08But there's a serious
07:10worry
07:10All right
07:11Come on
07:11Graham's concerned
07:12Huey's dirty addiction
07:14isn't behavioural
07:15but medical
07:17Because this is so unusual
07:19I just wonder whether
07:20there might be something
07:21else going on here
07:22So I really want to
07:23take a bit of advice
07:24Huey!
07:25Doing what he's doing
07:26is putting him in danger
07:27real danger
07:28If she lost this dog
07:3010 out of 10 puppies
07:32Can you imagine
07:33how that would be?
07:35Coming up
07:36Graham's search
07:37for answers
07:38takes a turn
07:39So a lot of
07:40cockapoos
07:41with this kind of
07:41puppy
07:4150% of my intake
07:43is a cockapoo
07:44or something
07:44poo
07:45Which could derail
07:47any hopes
07:47for fixing it
07:48Okay
07:49so we've got
07:50our first set of results
07:51Back at Graham's
07:53puppy school
07:53a juvenile delinquent
07:55Super distracted
07:56Yeah
07:57He's just not interested
07:58No
07:59Is vying for class clown
08:01You know when you said
08:02you wanted an energetic dog
08:03And a Labrador
08:04with an appetite
08:05for destruction
08:06We used to have
08:07a nice rug down here
08:09Dining room table
08:10Is leaving a grandad
08:11isolated
08:13We used to have
08:13family social gatherings
08:15here in the garden
08:15It's not like that now
08:17which affects my dad
08:18massively
08:25What's he doing
08:26Graham's in
08:28Bexley
08:29South East London
08:30Oh no
08:31Where pooey
08:32Huey's horrid hunger
08:34for piping hot
08:36Ugh
08:36Huey stop
08:38Doggy do's
08:39The smellier
08:40and the more fresh
08:41it is
08:42the better
08:42Is stressing out Trish
08:44Oh God
08:44he's doing it again
08:45Huey stop
08:46And leaving fellow
08:48dog walkers
08:49horrified
08:49Not the sort of thing
08:50you want to be seeing
08:51especially not first thing
08:52in the morning
08:53Stop
08:54Stop
08:55Stop
08:55It's really important
08:56we knock this problem
08:57on the head
08:57because Patricia's
08:58extremely embarrassing
08:59and I'm also thinking
09:01and I'm also thinking
09:01sooner or later
09:01he's going to pick on
09:03the one dog
09:03that really
09:04really doesn't like it
09:06Graham fears
09:07it's more than
09:08bad behaviour
09:09Huey
09:10stop
09:10and a medical issue
09:12and a medical issue
09:12could derail
09:13any training
09:14Because this is so unusual
09:16I just want to take
09:17some advice
09:17from a vet
09:18that I know
09:19I've worked with before
09:21Dr Charlotte Gray
09:22is a veterinary surgeon
09:23with a focus
09:24on clinical nutrition
09:27Charlie this is Trish
09:28Hiya
09:28Hello
09:29And Huey
09:31So what reasons are
09:32for a dog eating poo?
09:33There are a few
09:35Some dogs learn it
09:36because as puppies
09:37their mum will eat the poo
09:38to keep the nest clean
09:40and actually there are
09:41some puppies
09:41who will start doing that
09:43and just never really stop
09:45Huey was an only pup
09:46and all that extra fuss
09:48from his furry mum
09:49may have shaped
09:51his horrid habit
09:52but there could be
09:53a genetic quirk
09:55at play too
09:55He is a cockapoo
09:57Based on my client base
09:59in the nutrition clinic
10:00that always makes me
10:01a little bit suspicious
10:02that maybe there's a reason
10:03that started it off
10:05So a lot of cockapoos
10:06with this kind of problem
10:07Yeah
10:07A disproportionate number
10:09of cockapoos
10:09that have got odd food behaviours
10:11and 50% of my intake
10:12is a cockapoo
10:13or a something poo
10:15who actually have
10:16an illness
10:17that's causing them
10:18some discomfort
10:18or some nausea
10:19which sounds back to front
10:21given that
10:22you'd think
10:22if they felt sick
10:23that eating poo
10:24would be the last thing
10:25on your mind
10:26It's never worked for me
10:27No
10:27It's never been my favourite
10:29hanging of the cure
10:29With cockapoos
10:31prone to tummy troubles
10:32Huey may be eating poo
10:34because he's uncomfortable
10:35So it'd be nice
10:37if we could have a look
10:37at him I think
10:38have a feel of his tummy
10:39Come with him baby
10:39Sorry Huey
10:40You're not the smallest cockapoo
10:42Are you?
10:42No he's not is he?
10:43Hello
10:43Well he's had his film
10:44How are you?
10:45Oh great
10:46Don't lick me face
10:48Good boy
10:48Well done
10:50First a once over
10:51to check for soreness
10:53He's not tense at all
10:55He doesn't seem too worried
10:56With no obvious signs of pain
10:58a blood test could show
11:00if anything's off
11:01Almost done
11:02Okay
11:04Well done
11:06So that's Huey's blood
11:08The only test we've got left
11:09to do is the poo test
11:11Collect some poo
11:12in one of these poo pots
11:14that will tell us
11:16whether there's inflammation
11:17high up his gut
11:17The poo test will take
11:19a few weeks
11:20but with a lab on site
11:21his bloods can be checked
11:23straight away
11:24Okay
11:25So we've got our first
11:26set of results
11:27And so far
11:28it's good news
11:29He's not got any signs
11:30of anaemia
11:31He's got no signs
11:32of infection
11:32So overall
11:34this is normal
11:35Am I okay to carry on
11:37with some training?
11:38Yes
11:38Well so far
11:39so reassuring I think
11:40Yeah
11:40Thank you very much
11:42No pleasure
11:42Hopefully we get him
11:43sorted out
11:44Yeah
11:44Alright
11:45We'll crack on
11:45While there's still
11:47more results to come back
11:48the blood tests
11:49point to Huey's poo passion
11:51as a learned behaviour
11:53not a medical one
11:54Well I'm glad
11:55we've got the go ahead
11:56to do the training
11:56which is great
11:57except
11:59I don't know
11:59how I'm going to do it
12:01Huey!
12:02No!
12:03I mean think about it
12:04Dog training is all
12:05about repetition
12:06and I'm going to have
12:07to get Huey
12:07to step away
12:08from the poo repeatedly
12:09which means
12:10I'm going to have
12:11to get a load of dogs
12:12to sort of
12:13poo on command
12:14otherwise we're going
12:14to be there all day
12:15Graham's ready
12:16to get his hands dirty
12:18but cracking Huey's
12:20filthy fixation
12:21will take more
12:22than a whiff
12:22of inspiration
12:25In the meantime
12:27he's back in Bicester
12:28in Oxfordshire
12:29where he's recently
12:30opened his new
12:31puppy school
12:32I started my journey
12:34I started my journey
12:34as a professional dog trainer
12:35doing dog
12:36and particularly
12:37puppy classes
12:38and then I kind of
12:40moved away from that
12:41and I've been going
12:41around the country
12:42helping people
12:43with badly behaved dogs
12:44quite nice to work
12:45with puppies again
12:46He's brought together
12:48a class of new puppy owners
12:49to guide them
12:50through the key
12:51training milestones
12:52Good girl!
12:54I wonder what
12:54we're going to learn today
12:55From around 12 weeks old
12:58puppies need clear
12:59focused lessons
13:00to shape good behaviour
13:02You're going to be
13:03wild trying
13:03by the end of this
13:04Graham knows
13:05only too well
13:08Without that early guidance
13:11These cuties
13:12can grow into
13:13his usual clientele
13:18The last lesson
13:20was all about
13:20socialisation
13:21When things start
13:23to go a little bit iffy
13:24don't look nervous
13:25By around 12 weeks
13:26fully vaccinated pups
13:28can finally get out
13:29and explore
13:30helping them get used
13:31to the sights
13:32sounds and smells
13:34around them
13:34Good boy Tony
13:35Good boy
13:37Good boy
13:37Let's get a motorbike
13:38son
13:38Yeah
13:40Well today's milestone
13:42is something that's
13:42fundamental for dogs
13:44as well
13:45like the ABCs
13:46123s
13:47for little humans
13:48So it's really important
13:49that they get this
13:50Returning our
13:51rescue Winnie
13:52family dog
13:54Sydney
13:55break up
13:56pup Boo
13:57and farm dog
13:58Mr Todd
13:59and introducing
14:01new student
14:02Loki
14:03You're all excited
14:05Lorraine come on through
14:07Nice to meet you
14:08Hello

14:15Thank you
14:16Yeah
14:17Oh dear
14:18Oh hello
14:19Looks like Winnie
14:20needs more socialisation
14:21training
14:22Oh dear
14:24He's like
14:24blimey
14:25okay
14:25first day at school
14:28Winnie
14:30Well welcome
14:31to our little merry band
14:32How old is he?
14:33He's 15 weeks
14:3415 weeks
14:35He's a big lad
14:35for 15 weeks
14:36isn't he eh?
14:36Yeah
14:37Recently retired
14:39child protection officer
14:40Lorraine
14:40isn't putting her feet up
14:42just yet
14:43My plans with Loki
14:44are to
14:45go on adventures
14:46He's a breed
14:48that loves to run
14:49and explore
14:50and so I'm hoping
14:52that we can go off
14:53and do that
14:53when he's
14:54a little bit bigger
14:55It's not going to be
14:56a quiet retirement
14:57at all
14:58It's going to be
14:59an exciting one
15:00You made a good choice
15:02there then
15:02Oh yeah
15:02They're definitely energetic
15:03I'll give you that
15:04I know
15:06Today
15:07we're moving on a bit
15:08There's a really
15:09essential set of skills
15:10that I want to teach you
15:11and these are all about
15:13building a bond
15:13teaching the dogs
15:15how to respond
15:16to your cues
15:17Basically we're going to
15:18tell them to do something
15:19and teach them how to do it
15:21Vocal cues or commands
15:23are a big early lesson
15:24The first
15:26are sit
15:26and stay
15:27which aren't just
15:28good manners
15:29they're about safety
15:31keeping pups
15:32out of trouble
15:32Hello Mr Todd
15:33When it comes to
15:35teaching sit
15:35Graham has a tip
15:37Actions speak
15:38louder than words
15:41So he's not sitting
15:42First
15:43Graham gets
15:44Mr Todd's attention
15:45with a treat
15:46then raises it up
15:47We move it over his head
15:49And he naturally
15:51sits down
15:52Good
15:53There you go
15:54Now
15:55Can anybody tell me
15:56what I'm not doing?
15:57You didn't say
15:58the word sit
15:59Bang on
16:00Why would I not be
16:01saying sit?
16:01We are doing sit
16:02training after all
16:03Because he doesn't
16:04know what it means
16:05He doesn't know
16:06what it means
16:06You're absolutely
16:07right Lorraine
16:07First we get him
16:08doing the action
16:09playing a game
16:09Oh right
16:10I touch my bum
16:11on the ground
16:12You give me
16:13one of those treats
16:42Then and only then
16:44Sit
16:45He's got it
16:46Good boy
16:47And that's a general
16:49principle you're going
16:49to see in all
16:50doc training
16:51You show them what
16:52you mean
16:52and then you label it
16:54You give it a name
16:54That's your cue
16:56Off you go
16:57Can the class
16:59copy Graham's success?
17:01Sit
17:01Mr. Todd
17:02Sit
17:03Is first to understand
17:05Sit
17:06Soon rescue pup
17:07Winnie
17:08Sit
17:09Little Boo
17:10Look at that
17:11And finally Sidney
17:12All master the vocal
17:14cue
17:16But new boy Loki
17:17Move your hand up
17:18Lorraine
17:19Doesn't seem interested
17:20in studying
17:21Super distracted
17:22Yeah he's just
17:23not interested
17:25Just wants to play
17:26So if you get your
17:27treat
17:28So
17:29Hey hey hey
17:30What's this?
17:31Up and above
17:32But not to a
17:33jumping point
17:34There you go
17:34Does that make sense?
17:36So you're doing that
17:36with it
17:37You're luring him
17:38into position
17:38Have your treat ready
17:39and I'll give you
17:40a chance
17:41For Loki
17:42Lorraine's treats
17:43are no match
17:44to playing with
17:45another pop
17:46You know when you
17:47said you wanted
17:47an energetic dog
17:48right?
17:50Half the work
17:50in puppy training
17:51is getting
17:52and keeping
17:52their attention
17:53and Loki
17:54is younger
17:55than the others
17:55Lorraine
17:56is having a bit
17:57of a hard time
17:58but the worst
17:58thing she can do
17:59right now
18:00is give up
18:02And Graham's
18:03come prepared
18:04Right let's try
18:05something different
18:06A much tastier treat
18:08Oh you like that
18:09don't you?
18:09Sit
18:10Instantly gets
18:11Loki's attention
18:12Great
18:13With Loki
18:14back on task
18:15it's time for
18:15the pup's
18:16first oral exam
18:17Right let's see
18:19if we can get
18:19all the dogs
18:20to sit at the
18:20same time
18:21if I cure you
18:23so if we get
18:23so if we get them
18:23all standing up
18:25three
18:27two
18:29one
18:31sit
18:32Good boy
18:33Fantastic
18:33look at that
18:34It's a great start
18:36How are we feeling
18:37about it?
18:37Happy?
18:38Yeah
18:38Good
18:38So the next lesson
18:40is going to be
18:40stay
18:41but here's the catch
18:42I want you to get
18:44your dogs to stay
18:45without ever
18:46saying the word
18:47stay
18:49Coming up
18:50Graham's giving
18:51the pups
18:52the silent treatment
18:56It's got me
18:57He meets a
18:57Labrador
18:58ransacking
18:59a retiree's home
19:00We've always had
19:01birthdays
19:02and different
19:03events here
19:04since I've had
19:05Ziggy
19:05we haven't been
19:06able to do that
19:07And will
19:08Pooey Huey
19:09Are you ready?
19:10kick his filthy fix
19:11Now go on
19:12call him
19:12Huey!
19:20Graham Hall's
19:21new puppy school
19:22is up and running
19:23and today he's
19:24teaching his
19:25four-legged pupils
19:26sit
19:26cues or commands
19:28Good boy
19:29So far
19:30they've learnt
19:31sit
19:32Three
19:32two
19:33one
19:33sit
19:34Sit
19:35Fantastic
19:36Look at that
19:37Graham's next
19:38lesson
19:39is stay
19:40There are lots
19:40of times
19:41when we might
19:41want a dog
19:42to stay
19:43or wait
19:43to just hang
19:44fire basically
19:45we might be
19:45crossing the road
19:46we might be
19:47about to go
19:47through a gate
19:48When it comes
19:49to stay
19:51Graham's tip
19:52silence is
19:53golden
19:54and to
19:55demonstrate
19:56Would you
19:56take a seat
19:57for a second
19:57please?
19:58Certainly
19:58Thank you
19:59very much
19:59Good
20:01But sometimes
20:02we need our
20:02dogs to sit
20:03or lie down
20:03for a period
20:04of time
20:04Normally
20:05we think of
20:05that as
20:06maybe stay
20:07or even
20:07wait
20:08and I do
20:09that without
20:09saying either
20:10of those two
20:10words
20:11Is he still
20:12sat there?
20:13He is
20:13He sure is
20:14He is
20:15Yeah
20:15Why is that
20:16there?
20:18I was told
20:19to
20:19Did anybody
20:20say stay?
20:22No
20:22Point being
20:24why don't we
20:25teach dogs
20:25that sit
20:26means sit
20:27and keep
20:28sitting
20:28Wouldn't that
20:29be simpler?
20:30Yeah
20:30You can
20:31You can join
20:31You can join the
20:31group now
20:32Colin
20:32Thank you
20:32very much
20:33for helping
20:33out
20:33Making a dog
20:34sit and stay
20:35has two
20:36challenges
20:36Time and
20:38distance
20:38How far
20:40you can move
20:40away from the
20:41dog
20:41before they
20:42give chase
20:43First
20:44Graham's tackling
20:45time
20:47Hello
20:47Hello boo
20:47Come with me
20:48There you go
20:48Come on then
20:49Hello
20:51You know how to do
20:52sit don't you
20:52Sit
20:54Good
20:55There you go
20:57Sit
20:58Ah no
21:00Good
21:02So she's
21:03beginning to
21:03learn
21:03when he says
21:04sit and I
21:05sit
21:05maybe there's
21:06a gap in
21:06time
21:07Now
21:07Graham extends
21:09the time he
21:09makes her sit
21:10before giving
21:11the treat
21:13Maybe it's a
21:14second or two
21:14before I
21:15actually get
21:15it
21:15Sit
21:18Good
21:19Clever
21:20girl
21:20I wasn't
21:21counting
21:21What was that
21:22five seconds
21:22And before
21:23long
21:24boo's
21:24patiently
21:25sitting
21:25for 20
21:26seconds
21:27How many
21:28times did
21:28I say stay
21:29No
21:30No times
21:31Don't need it
21:32do you
21:32Sit
21:33and keep
21:33sitting
21:33is what
21:34we're
21:34teaching
21:35Distance
21:36is the
21:36next
21:37challenge
21:37and
21:38Graham
21:38needs
21:38a new
21:39volunteer
21:40Now
21:40to start
21:41with
21:41Good
21:42Boy
21:43I'll take
21:43a step
21:43back
21:44Step
21:44back
21:45in
21:45Good
21:45Boy
21:47There's
21:47no point
21:48going
21:48ten feet
21:48backwards
21:49because
21:49he ain't
21:50got the
21:50hang of
21:50that
21:50There you
21:52Go
21:53Good
21:53Boy
21:53Sit
21:54For
21:55the
21:55pups
21:56the game
21:56is
21:56easy
21:57Sit
21:58Don't
21:58move
21:59and the
21:59treat
22:00will
22:00come
22:00to
22:00you
22:01Couple
22:02of
22:02little
22:02steps
22:02Yeah
22:03Good
22:03Boy
22:04That's
22:04All right
22:04We dropped
22:05it
22:06Sit
22:08Good
22:09Clever
22:10Boy
22:10And then
22:11we build it
22:11up from there
22:12And within
22:12just a few
22:13minutes
22:15Oh
22:16Good
22:17Boy
22:17Good
22:20Boy
22:20There you
22:21Go

22:23the group
22:24get their
22:24pups to
22:25sit and
22:26stay
22:26without
22:27saying a
22:27word
22:29Just to add
22:30a bit of
22:30spice to it
22:31That's the
22:32finish line
22:33If you can
22:34get as far
22:34as this
22:35finish line
22:35even for a
22:36second or
22:36two
22:36Fantastic
22:38All right
22:38team
22:39Best of
22:39luck
22:39Three
22:40Two
22:40One
22:40Off
22:41you go
22:41To pass
22:42the test
22:43each pup
22:44must sit
22:44and stay
22:45until their
22:46human returns
22:47from the
22:47finish line
22:48Sit
22:49Robert and
22:50Winnie

22:57Well done

23:04That's it
23:05What's the team
23:05game going on
23:06here with
23:06Mary and
23:07Colin
23:07Very good
23:09While Loki
23:10and Mr
23:10Todd
23:11distract
23:11each other
23:13Ruby
23:13with Sidney
23:14is almost
23:15over the
23:16line
23:16You're there
23:17girl
23:18On you
23:18Go
23:18But Sidney's
23:19enthusiasm

23:20better of
23:21him
23:21Oh no
23:22Do you know
23:22what
23:22I'm not
23:23going to
23:23allow that
23:23Ruby
23:24because your
23:24dog broke
23:24the sit
23:25at the
23:25last minute
23:25Try again
23:26You had it
23:27Roots
23:29Nice
23:30Good boy
23:31Good boy

23:48with Mr Todd
23:49That's it
23:49You're getting there
23:50One more step
23:51Right mate
23:52Back to your dog
23:53Well done

23:55And Charlotte
23:56and little Boo
23:57All right

24:00Oh very good
24:02All right
24:03I'm all right
24:04Leaving just new pup
24:06Loki
24:06and Lorraine
24:09Loki
24:10Here
24:11Here
24:12I think Loki's struggling
24:14because it's a new environment
24:16Lots of new friends
24:18that he wants to interact with
24:19I don't seem to exist
24:21when they're there
24:22If Loki's ever to become
24:25Lorraine's travelling buddy
24:26he needs to learn to listen
24:28Sit
24:34Oh lovely
24:35And after ten long minutes
24:37Well done Lorraine
24:38That's better
24:38He's finally got it
24:41Good boy
24:41It's a good boy
24:42Well done
24:43Good boy
24:44Well I think
24:45Give yourselves a round of applause
24:46everybody
24:46I think you did really well there
24:48Fantastic
24:49Good
24:50All right
24:51They've all got
24:52their own abilities
24:53You know
24:54Some dogs
24:54it was easier than others
24:55For Loki
24:56It's his first day
24:57at puppy school
24:57You know
24:58I think he's done amazingly well
25:00It's his first time
25:01interacting with so many dogs
25:03and playing with them
25:04and then
25:04the learning
25:05Yeah
25:05Really enjoyed it
25:06Loved it
25:07And yeah
25:08Just so worth it
25:09Next time
25:11More milestones
25:12But in the meantime
25:12Do go away and practice
25:14Obviously
25:14The hard work starts
25:16when you leave here
25:17And send me those little videos
25:18I'd love to see how you're getting on
25:19Graham believes puppy training
25:21Getting those crucial boundaries
25:23in early
25:24Is what sets up
25:25a well behaved dog
25:27And his next case
25:28just down the road
25:29in Oxford
25:30shows exactly what happens
25:32when there are no boundaries
25:40Well then
25:40Hello
25:41Hi
25:41Nice to meet you
25:43Yep
25:43Lauren
25:43And
25:45Zachary
25:45Zachary
25:46Hello Zachary
25:47Come on in
25:47Come into the kennel
25:48Lauren's called Graham
25:50to help her dad Richard
25:51But maybe the police
25:53might have been more appropriate
25:54Looks like the place
25:56has been ransacked
25:57Graham
25:58Nice to meet you
25:58Nice to meet you
25:59Richard yeah
25:59Yeah that's right
26:00Nice to meet you Richard
26:01And the culprit
26:02Courtred poured
26:04That's Ziggy is it
26:05Yes you can see what
26:07Hello Ziggy
26:08Hello
26:08See what we're up against
26:09Oh blimey
26:10I see
26:10So he destroys sock furnishings
26:12does he
26:13He does
26:13Anything he can get
26:14his teeth round
26:15He's a bit bare
26:16isn't he
26:16It is literally
26:17Yeah
26:18It's a kennel
26:18It's his kennel
26:20Since arriving
26:2120 month old Ziggy
26:23has systematically destroyed
26:25everything
26:25in recently retired engineer
26:27Richard's house
26:28He's got me
26:29I've not known anybody
26:31that's had a dog
26:32that's destroyed
26:33things like Ziggy does
26:35Right
26:35Let go
26:36Because if there is something
26:37within reach
26:38he will grab it
26:39And while you're taking
26:40that off him
26:42Right
26:43He can be taking
26:44the handkerchief
26:45out your pocket
26:46Oh Ziggy
26:47We would be talking
26:49thousands of pounds
26:50of stuff that he's destroyed
26:52Richard's not exaggerating
26:54This used to be
26:55his best settee
26:57He slowly demolished that
26:59over like an 18 month period
27:01It's a little bit uncomfortable
27:03I find it very stressful
27:05because you can't
27:07rest and relax
27:08for one minute
27:09No wonder
27:10There's nowhere left to relax
27:13It's preventing me
27:15from having
27:16a peaceful time
27:17It's preventing
27:18people visiting
27:19particularly
27:20my grandchildren
27:22Proud granddad of three
27:24Richard's house
27:25used to be the hub
27:26of family celebrations
27:28We've always had
27:29birthdays
27:30Christmases
27:32and different events here
27:34with all the family
27:35coming over
27:36and enjoying time here
27:37But unfortunately
27:39since I've had Ziggy
27:40we haven't been able
27:42to do that
27:42And if grandson Zach
27:44does visit
27:45playtimes under lock and key
27:47This is a toy cupboard
27:49and also where Zach
27:50can sit and do some
27:52colouring or painting
27:54We can't get it out
27:56because the dog's just
27:57potentially going to come in
27:58and take something
28:00The rest of the family
28:02think I'm mad
28:03because they think
28:04I should be able
28:05to control him
28:06a bit better
28:07The table is on top of there
28:09I did notice there was a table
28:11on your sofa
28:11Yeah, it's upside down
28:13because it stops him
28:14actually making a hole
28:15in the setting
28:16and I've saved the cushions
28:18Oh, are you?
28:19They're upstairs
28:19So anything that can be moved
28:22I've moved
28:23Do you know
28:24if you played the game
28:25of who would live
28:25in a house like this
28:26you would
28:27I reckon
28:28you would say
28:28oh, that's a student digs
28:29isn't it?
28:30We used to have
28:31a nice rug down here
28:32great big rug
28:33we had a dining room table
28:35So, yeah
28:36it's very bare
28:38isn't it?
28:38You definitely wouldn't think
28:39retired gentleman
28:41enjoying his time
28:42surrounded by all the things
28:43that you collect
28:44over a lifetime
28:45He's brought it back here
28:47He's starting to rip that up
28:48You know
28:48Go on then
28:49How do you get it off?
28:50You see if you can catch him, Zach
28:51All right
28:52Zach's your man
28:52Oh, he's fast
28:55Yes
28:56Right
28:57Oh, I see
28:58Now
28:59Let go
29:01Ziggy
29:01Ah
29:02No
29:03He's like
29:04I've got it
29:05He's not letting that go
29:06Is he?
29:06No
29:06What's the solution?
29:08Well, the solution
29:09that I've found
29:10is not to leave anything out
29:11Right
29:13Richard's fix
29:14to Ziggy's destructive behaviour
29:16He will eventually
29:17give up on it
29:18has been to simply ignore it
29:21There
29:21Ah, well done
29:23It's not just
29:24Grandad's house
29:25that's wrecked
29:25His garden
29:27looks like
29:27no man's land
29:28Oh, blimey
29:29Have you had many
29:30unexploded bombs around here?
29:32Ziggy's impact
29:33has been genuinely
29:35devastating
29:35Zach and his grandad
29:37are really close
29:38and it is so nice
29:39that they have such a bond
29:40Yeah
29:41That they're unable to
29:42interact the same way
29:44as they did
29:44We used to have family
29:45social gatherings here
29:46in the garden
29:47and everyone would come here
29:48this was the hub
29:49It's not like that now
29:51No
29:51You know
29:52We don't have social gatherings here
29:54which affects my dad
29:55massively
29:56What's your take on
29:58the way he treats the dog?
30:00My dad's very
30:00soft-natured
30:01He's not one to
30:02raise his voice
30:03Right
30:03So I think the dog
30:05kind of takes advantage
30:06of him a bit
30:07Yeah
30:08This is not a dog
30:09who was born to be
30:10the bossiest dog
30:11in the world
30:12far from it
30:13and yet
30:13he's getting away
30:14with murder
30:16Lauren, you were telling me
30:17you've got a couple
30:17of ideas yourself
30:18of where things
30:19might be going wrong
30:20Do you want to tell your dad?
30:21I think that you're
30:22a lovely person
30:23You're very soft though
30:25and I don't think
30:26there's much authority
30:26there when it comes to Ziggy
30:28That's probably right
30:29So for example
30:31when Lauren was young
30:32if Lauren stepped out
30:33and did something naughty
30:34what happened?
30:35Did she get told off?
30:36Well she got told off
30:38Who by?
30:40Probably her
30:41Probably my mother
30:43Her mother
30:43Her mum
30:44Not by you
30:47And thereby
30:48Isaac hangs the rug
30:50right
30:51He's not getting
30:52sold off in any way
30:53So
30:54I think we need
30:55to tell him no
30:56Yeah
30:56I'm quite prepared
30:57to do that
30:59Yeah
30:59It's reached that point
31:01where
31:02you know
31:02it's make or break
31:03Is Grandad tough
31:05or soft?
31:06Soft
31:08Out of the mouths
31:09of babes
31:10Graham believes
31:11Richard's lack of authority
31:13and inconsistent approach
31:15Oh Ziggy
31:16has allowed Ziggy
31:18to run riot
31:19Graham's probably
31:20hit the nail
31:21on the head
31:21with what he's suggested
31:23with being a bit
31:25firmer with Ziggy
31:27As Richard's been
31:28burying his head
31:29by locking his house
31:30down instead of his dog
31:31Graham wants to
31:32put that right
31:34So the aim today
31:35really is we'll get
31:36to the end of the day
31:36and we'll put the room
31:37back together
31:38That'd be nice
31:38wouldn't it?
31:39It would be
31:39It's a real treat
31:41starting with some of
31:42Ziggy's favourite
31:43chewables
31:44A pair of shoes
31:46Cushion
31:46We'll stick that there
31:49Ooh and a blanket
31:51How about that?
31:53So I'm going to teach
31:54Ziggy how to
31:55leave it
31:56basically
31:57I'm going to walk in
31:58past a couple of items
31:59that he's not allowed
31:59to have
32:00and when he steps away
32:01we're going to say
32:02leave it
32:03We're going to guide him
32:03away from each
32:04of those items
32:05So if I take that
32:06lead
32:07Thanks Lauren
32:07Come on there mate
32:08You're with me
32:09Graham's house rules
32:10are easy to follow
32:11Let's go over here
32:12As soon as Ziggy
32:13shows interest
32:14in something he shouldn't
32:15Leave it
32:16A clear
32:17no-nonsense warning
32:18Come on Zig
32:20What's this?
32:22Leave it
32:22Praise for backing away
32:24Oh good boy
32:26That's very good
32:27Yes
32:27And a reward
32:28with something
32:29he can play with
32:30Come on
32:31Here's your reward
32:33How about that?
32:34Ooh you like that
32:34don't you?
32:35Look it's a chuggy toy
32:36Yay
32:37The message to Ziggy
32:38couldn't be simpler
32:39These items
32:41No
32:41Those items
32:43Your dog toys
32:43Yes
32:44Ziggy's listening to Graham
32:46Leave it
32:47Good boy
32:49There you go
32:50All right
32:51Clever boy
32:53Yeah
32:55Much better than a cushion
32:56But it'll only work
32:58if Richard can earn
32:59the same respect
33:00So you've seen
33:02what I've done
33:02I'm going to hand you
33:03the lead
33:04I'm going to perch
33:05on here
33:06I'm worried about
33:07Richard actually
33:07I'm going to teach
33:08Richard how to
33:09do the right
33:10kind of discipline
33:11how to set
33:11boundaries
33:12rules
33:12you know
33:13Right then
33:14Let's see what we got
33:15So you know the score
33:16Ziggy's never
33:40Ziggy's never listened to his dad
33:46But can he be consistent with it
33:48Well you're doing ever so well
33:50So I thought
33:51Well I want to just bring one thing
33:52Not quite
33:53Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen
33:55We'll throw some cushions around
33:57There you go
34:01Leave it
34:02Leave it
34:03Good boy
34:05That's more like it
34:06Oh look at that
34:07More furnishing
34:08More temptation
34:10That's it
34:10There
34:11But Richard's found his dad voice
34:14Leave it
34:15Good boy
34:16Good boy
34:16Well done
34:17And Ziggy's listening
34:19Leave it
34:22Leave it
34:24Well done
34:24Good boy
34:25Perfect
34:26Preferring his toys to the furniture
34:29For once
34:30Hey it's the biggest rope in the world
34:32Are you enjoying the luxurious upholstery?
34:35It feels very odd to be sitting on the sofa
34:38With him
34:38Just there
34:40Well I think we've got the whole room back together
34:42It's all
34:43It's all here isn't it
34:45Since he was a pup
34:46Ziggy's been free to play by his own rules
34:49Ripping the house apart
34:51Oh Ziggy
34:54Well a little bit nervous
34:55But we'll go for it
34:56Yeah let's
34:57Can he be trusted
34:58Off lead
34:59Let's go for it
35:00Or will he go on the tear up?
35:03Good boy
35:05Good lad
35:06Maybe he's time to leave
35:07I've got no words
35:09But the fact that you've managed to get all this lot back out
35:12And he's not
35:12Yeah
35:13Bothered
35:14It's great isn't it
35:15Is that nice Zach?
35:17Having a cuddle
35:17It's good
35:18It's good
35:21I think Graham's training today has been very useful
35:24He's given us some good tips moving forward
35:28It's nice that everything's out
35:30And Ziggy's not destroying anything
35:33I think that you can play with Grandad again can't you?
35:36Yeah
35:36You'll be able to play with Grandad without Ziggy bothering you
35:39Yeah
35:40Well it's been a pleasure meeting you Rich
35:42Thanks Sarah
35:43You're welcome
35:44I'm going to leave you in peace
35:45Thank you very much Graham
35:46Bye bye
35:48Coming up
35:50Hughie
35:50Graham's back on the case of a cockapooie Hughie
35:53Oh my god
35:56And his stomach churning habit of munching every mutt's muck
36:00That's Frank the Bulldog
36:01Can we see Frank's party treat please?
36:04Oh
36:12Graham's almost done for the week
36:14But he's back in Bexley, South East London
36:16With cockapoo Hughie
36:18No
36:19Ugh
36:20Who loves to chow down
36:22Hughie
36:24Stop
36:25On fresh doggy doo
36:27Oh my god
36:28He will try to eat it directly as it's coming out of their bums
36:34A filthy habit that's turning Trish's stomach and everyone else's
36:38Hughie
36:39Stop it
36:40Not the sort of thing you want to be seeing
36:42And especially not first thing in the morning
36:43With behaviour this unusual
36:45Graham wanted a medical check before tackling the training
36:49Ew
36:49Don't lick me face
36:50With the all clear from the vet
36:52It seemed Hughie's faecal fascination
36:55Went right back to puppyhood
36:57As the lone survivor of a litter of ten
37:00Some dogs learn it because as puppies
37:02Their mum will eat the poo
37:03To keep the nest clean
37:04Is he eating more poo?
37:06Graham's got the green light to train Hughie
37:09And he reckons the key is recall
37:11Getting him to turn his back on pooping pups
37:14Now for training I've got a problem
37:16Because theoretically I would need a whole line of my dogs
37:18Who just like poo on command
37:20One after the other
37:21After the other
37:21And I don't think that's going to happen
37:23So
37:25I'm going to have to get a bit creative
37:26And true to form
37:29Good boy
37:30Graham's founder dog
37:31Who does a number two
37:33On cue
37:34There
37:35That's Frank the bulldog
37:38Oh my gosh
37:40Can we see Frank's party trick please?
37:47Oh my gosh
37:49It's a Frankfurter
37:51Oh Hughie's going to love this
37:53He is isn't he?
37:54Maybe not quite as much as poo
37:56But the theory is
37:57If Trish can recall Hughie from a juicy sausage
38:00Chances are she can pull him off a dog one too
38:03We're going to put him on a long line
38:05So he can't actually get to the Frankfurter
38:07Although he's going to be really quite close to it
38:09And wanting it
38:10When he comes back to us
38:12He gets a treat
38:13If he can do that
38:14He should also step away from the
38:17Delicious poo
38:18And the whole thing relies on one key principle
38:21We've got to be more exciting
38:22Okay
38:23Than poo
38:23First Trish needs to choose a clear recall command to stick to
38:28Alright
38:29Normally what I say to get him back
38:31Look what I got
38:32Oh well you can do that if you want
38:33Yeah
38:33If we can have one Frankfurter please
38:36Boom
38:37There we go
38:37Right come on Hughie
38:38Let's check it out
38:39For this to work
38:41Trish must be more exciting
38:43Here we go
38:43Than the potential poo
38:46And be clear with her commands
38:48No
38:48That's it
38:49Hughie
38:50Look
38:51Look what I got
38:51Oh he's got it
38:53He's got it
38:54And he got it
38:55Because while you went
38:56Hughie
38:58Not to worry
38:59Trish gets a bit flustered
39:01And she's forgetting what to say
39:02Trish has got to get it right
39:04You've got to be a wee bit more decisive
39:07Also you went
39:08Hughie
39:08And he's like
39:09Yeah and
39:10Yeah
39:10Look
39:11Right
39:11Which is good
39:12And then you didn't do the next bit
39:13Look what I got
39:14So you went
39:15Yeah
39:15That's not the magic words is it
39:16We might have our workers out now
39:18Because he's had one
39:49Trish needs to up her game
39:49With her confidence
39:50Look
39:50Look what I got
39:51Yeah
39:52Good boy
39:53I think he's going back on purpose
39:56Along with excitement and treats
39:59No
40:00Look
40:01Look what I got
40:02Yay
40:02Good boy
40:04It works
40:05Time
40:05Look
40:06Look what I got
40:07After time
40:08Yay
40:08Hey
40:09Clever boy
40:10I think we've done quite well with Frank
40:13And the Frankfurters
40:14Okay
40:15What if we go find a real dog now
40:17Doing a real poo
40:18And put this to the test
40:20I'm actually really excited to see if this is going to work
40:23Tempting Hughie away from a Frankfurter is one thing
40:27Hughie
40:28But usually getting a sniff of the real stuff
40:31Hughie
40:32Turns this mutt into a heat-seeking poopinator
40:35Stop it
40:37Now they need a real-life pooping pooch
40:45Which isn't as easy as you'd think
40:49There's never a pooing dog when you want one is there
40:52There will be soon surely
40:53The big question is
40:55Can you call him away when there's a real pooing dog
40:57I'm going to give it a go
41:01Oh here we go
41:02Here's one
41:04Oh hello
41:05If Trish is going to pry Hughie off that Labrador's bum
41:09She needs to be razor sharp
41:11The moment the lab goes to squat
41:13He locks on
41:16Pulse alarm
41:16It's a wee
41:17But moments later
41:18Oh here we go
41:20Here we go
41:21Oh
41:22Oh
41:22Right
41:23Are you ready?
41:26Right
41:26Now go on
41:27Call him
41:28Hughie
41:29No
41:29Look
41:31Look what I got
41:32Yay
41:32Good boy
41:34Yeah
41:35I'm really shocked
41:36Yeah
41:37So am I
41:38You got the words out right
41:41It's proven Hughie will ditch the poo if Trish nails what to do
41:47Honestly he's never done that
41:49He's never turned down fresh poo like that
41:51It's all about consistency
41:53Yeah
41:53I really wasn't expecting any of that to work
41:57So I'm really pleased
41:59Hughie
41:59No
42:00Look
42:01Look what I got
42:02So Hughie who was the only puppy out of ten to survive
42:06He has a happy future ahead of him now
42:08And if he should happen to give her a bit of a lick and a kiss in future
42:12Well it's no worse than the average dog now is it?
42:18In Oxford Richard's new house rules seem to be working
42:22We've managed to keep the house looking more of a home
42:25And Zach is able to play
42:27While Ziggy just relaxes
42:32Graham's puppy school students have been revising hard
