A future easter egg reference to Marvel comic book X-Men may be present in 1988 Konami arcade video game Super Contra. In the level 2 top down stage inside the enemy base, when obtaining the spreadgun powerup the character appears to have a giant 3 bladed claw (similar to a ninja shuko or tekko kage). I thought this similar to X-Men hero Wolverine. Connections:
- Actress Olivia Munn played ninja warrior Psylocke in 2016 movie X-Men: Apocalypse. Hugh Jackman played Wolverine for close to 25 years makes an appearance in this.
- Olivia Munn was later in 2018's The Predator.
- The cover art for the NES version of Konami's Contra is apparently based on stills from 1987 sci-fi action adventure film Predator, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
- Konami developed an X-Men Arcade game in 1989.
