Foreign minister Yvan Gil Venezuela reaffirms sovereignty over Guyana Esequiba.
Transcript
00:04We collide to the heck with statements of the Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Hill.
00:10We cannot describe those statements, we can only describe them as negacionists.
00:17We have not listened to any new element beyond what has been repeated throughout history.
00:26And we say they are negacionists because firstly, they negate the function of this court.
00:33As well as I say that it does not recognize the jurisdiction of this court to solve this issue.
00:40For a simple issue, this court, the international law, is created to promote the coexistence among states,
00:47the good neighborliness among states.
00:49And in this case, we have an instrument, which is the Geneva Agreement,
00:52which Guyana is trying to disregard, is trying to deny, and well, has repeated the arguments.
01:01It has denied that all the proof that were presented, that the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela presented,
01:06on how it took place, how a fraud was built around the arbitral war of 1899,
01:14which is a situation that has been resolved by the Geneva Agreement of 1966, that allows for direct negotiation.
01:22The same, we must say that they have denied all the will, all the historic will of Venezuela,
01:30to work directly, face to face, hand in hand with the Corruptive Republic of Guyana.
01:36That in recent years, even through different programs of Commander Chavez, of Petro Caribe, for example.
01:44Well, that benefited the Republic of Guyana, which was a demonstration of Venezuela, of the spirit to work together.
01:52And well, we are convinced that once all these arguments have been seen,
01:58well, once more, the historic reason would lie that the only way, which is where this is going to end,
02:06that the only way to resolve this controversy is face to face, without the interference of third parties,
02:13without trying to judicialize this controversy that already has a means to resolve it,
02:19which was agreed among both parties.
02:21Well, we are preparing now the legal team, our presentation for Monday,
02:27precisely where the world, where Venezuela will once again see the truth and the historic reasons
02:40that mandate us to come here and present and lead to negotiate face to face in favor of peace,
02:48of understanding among these two nations, which we are neighbors and we continue to be neighbors throughout history.
02:56So the court, I believe that the judges have been able to see the arguments of Venezuela.
03:03They have been able to listen to the negationist arguments of Guyana.
03:09And if the spirit of international law wants to be safeguarded,
03:14there is no other way that to give the reason, to give the right to the Bolivarian Republic.
03:21For a measure always, Venezuela has maintained a policy of good neighborliness to reach a joint agreement.
03:28However, we were listening to the conclusions, the final conclusions on behalf of Guyana,
03:33that the event proposed as Venezuela conclude its social policies and welfare policies that executes in Guayanesequiva,
03:47and that erased Guayanesequiva from the map of Venezuela.
03:53Venezuela, however, continues raising the flag of cordiality and meeting,
03:58so that through the Geneva agreement of 1966, this controversy is resolved.
04:05Well, we have seen, at the petition of Guyana, we have seen unprecedented things.
04:15To ask the court something that is not competent of the court to interfere in the internal affairs of Venezuela,
04:22for example.
04:23For example, we are certain that this is going to be completely discarded, because it has no validity.
04:29Precisely, to bring the case to the court has no validity in terms of international law.
04:34That's why we insist. Our path is direct negotiation, joint work between two nations.
04:40There are two nations of the global south, nations that have to work together for the shared development.
04:49Now, there is no other way than the Geneva agreement of 1966.
04:53Any other route is a route that is destined to failure, because it has been demonstrated.
04:59That's what we have seen here, following the arguments of Venezuela and the nihilist arguments of Guyana.
05:09We're listening to statements of the Foreign Minister Ivan Hill in The Hague.
05:14As we recall, Venezuela is appearing before the International Court of Justice to once again demonstrate the truth,
05:22the historic truth of Venezuela and its sovereignty right over Guyana-Esequiba, which has been taking place.
05:27Venezuela has once again reaffirmed that it does not recognize the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice on this
05:33matter,
05:34since there is already an agreement that was signed by both parties to resolve the territorial dispute
05:39through direct negotiations between the Bolivarian Republic and the Cooperative Republic of Guyana.
05:46We will have more updates in the upcoming news brief.
