00:04episode. She's kind of going scorched earth with Homelander. I know. Billing switches sides in the
00:11final hour. What a twist. Shock that never happens. But unclench those assholes, fellas. I'm here to
00:17help. And is like really boldly going out on her own. What do you think? I remember thinking that
00:24in that first scene she has with Homelander, she said all empires must fall. So I've always
00:31kind of imagined that she was game for the ride. But with an understanding that one day
00:38the ride needed to end. And so I feel like she's done like the most epic kind of quiet quitting
00:43ever since she realized that, okay, now we're talking about V1. We're talking about immortality.
00:49We're talking about something that's never going to end. I think she's been ready to find
00:53whatever exit she can. And she's ready to go to the next, the next place that doesn't
01:00have to do with staying in the same place forever. Because that sounds like torture.
01:04The episode begins with her trying like, it's like attempt number 35 on the V1.
01:09Hopefully the 35th try is the charm.
01:20Do you think she's purposely sabotaging his attempts because she found the cure for cancer?
01:25Well, I feel like she's always been someone who wasn't really interested in helping anybody. I think
01:29the wound from her childhood went so deep that she was like, F you, F you, F you, F all
01:35of you. And she's
01:36not actually interested in helping anyone. So like I said, a performance of quiet quitting of like,
01:42yeah, I'm sorry. It's not working. I don't know what's going on.
01:47I love your scenes with Colby Menefee.
01:48And oh yeah, there's the tiny little detail of you trying to bring on the apocalypse.
01:53I offered you a spot in my bunker.
01:54What was it like sharing scenes with her? This is such a fun and unexpected alliance for you guys.
01:58Oh, you know, I knew Colby before we started working on this. And I thought it was really
02:05great to get to work with someone as talented as her, as fun as her, and also get this two
02:12women
02:12who have aligned with fascism for totally selfish reasons. Firecracker, she does have beliefs about
02:20other people. She really thinks she's helping some people and representing some people.
02:24I don't think Sage and Ashley are in that ballgame at all. They are for self-preservation.
02:31She's also so funny. And so it was great to have some scenes also with someone who doesn't have
02:38the physical, the physical danger of a Homelander or a Soldier Boy. Their powers are either mental or
02:48telepathic. So that was fun.
02:50I was also really struck by Sage's decision to still call Soldier Boy for help almost with
02:55Bombsite.

03:02What did you think about that? And also, what is your experience working with Jensen? I feel
03:06like those scenes are interesting.
03:08He's so funny and calm. He has the ability to bring out some of the naughtiest improvs that
03:17I have to work really, really hard to keep a straight face. And usually he cracks me. I felt
03:22like Sage is at a point where she's forced to collaborate with people the way she was forced
03:28to collaborate with Ashley. It's not something she likes to do. She likes to work alone. And I think
03:32she has so much trust in the animosity that she can put between Homelander and Soldier Boy that she's
03:38like, all right, I got to roll the dice because I can't keep doing it.
03:40What can you tease about Sage's finale, the end of her story? What do you think about it?
03:45One of the messages of the show has always been, what can a bunch of regular people do
03:49to stand up to one person with too much power? And she's been pushed all season to stop working
03:57by herself, stop keeping secrets. So she gets the opportunity to see just how far she can go,
04:03how far she's able to work with other people in a way of what she decides.
