00:00Now it's The Sit Down with Matthew McConaughey and Angelina Looking Glass.
00:04Hi you two.
00:05Hello.
00:05Hello.
00:06Your new movie, The Rivals of Amziah King, truly has everything.
00:10We laughed, we cried, we hummed along, the Honey Bee Coming of Age Musical of the Summer.
00:16How did your agents describe this movie to you?
00:19What drew you in?
00:20I don't remember my agent explaining anything except saying it's a very original script
00:25that you might dig.
00:26And I did read it and I read the original space, place, and time, the original language,
00:31the poetry of it, and it's very mythological and it has a lot of that, well if it ain't
00:35true it ought to be, sort of swing to it, and in the heart of it, this beautiful love story
00:42between us of this man, Amziah, who's reunited with this young woman who was a foster parent
00:48to years in the past, and he sees her sort of wandering and tries to invite her into his
00:54life and she comes in and he puts her in the center of the circle, as he likes to do,
01:00and
01:00it's this shepherding of this young lady from a princess to a queen.
01:05Get ready my little chickadee, bees only swarm when they are ready for a fight.
01:08Without giving anything away, this movie is about bees.
01:12Are you both bee experts now?
01:14You have to be comfortable in scenes with bees.
01:18Yeah.
01:19Because the bees can feel you tense up and that makes them tense.
01:22And you don't want to make one of them tense.
01:24I think I was more comfortable with the bees.
01:26You were very comfortable with the bees.
01:28Yeah.
01:28I think you were a little bit like, were you comfortable?
01:30Well I got stung early and found out that I was very allergic.
01:33And if I got stung again, it would have been four days with no M's eye on camera because
01:39he'd be swollen up.
01:40Swollen up.
01:42So we did, you know we did this, that scene, you and I and the bees, and I get to
01:46hold the
01:46thousands of them on my arm.
01:47We moved that to the last scene of the movie on purpose for that reason.
01:52If I got stung, you don't need me on camera anymore.
01:56And I didn't get stung at all.
01:58No you didn't.
01:58I think that was really insane that he didn't, I got stung like seven times throughout that
02:03whole movie.
02:04You did?
02:05Yeah, seven times.
02:06Yeah.
02:07But you're not allergic.
02:08I'm not though.
02:09You rolled right through it and she could be camera ready 30 seconds later.
02:11Yeah.
02:12I was very allergic.
02:13If I got stung, I was not going to be on camera for another five days.
02:16The symbolism and lessons built into this movie are incredible.
02:20How did that inspire you?
02:22Every parent out there, what do you want for your children?
02:25You want to pass on some values and things that you built in your own life and you want
02:29to pass them on.
02:30You don't want them to be exactly like you, but you want them to take some things and keep
02:33them alive after you are gone.
02:36That's how you become immortal.
