00:05There are some who believe that life here is being monitored by beings in the distant
00:09universe. And there are people here on earth who know this to be true. For centuries,
00:18people on earth have experienced a troubling and persistent phenomenon. Many people have vivid
00:23memories of being abducted secretly against their will by seemingly non-human entities and
00:29undergoing complex psychological and physical experiments. A common misconception is that
00:37space is a quiet and desolate vacuum of emptiness. Space is, however, very active.
01:04Middlesex, England.
01:11Identical twins. Philip and Ronald lived with their grandparents on an unassuming road in
01:16the historic county of Middlesex. It was the summer of 1982. It seemed like a normal sunny
01:25day. A slight breeze flew through the air. For 13-year-old Philip and Ronald, this seemingly
01:35normal day would be the beginning of a lifetime.
01:43They lived in a big house and we were out in the back garden with our grandmother, my brother
01:47and myself.
01:51Philip. Our grandma was out and Philip, my brother Philip, contests that she's hanging out washing.
01:58I can't exactly remember if she's hanging out washing. But she was with us. We were fussing
02:02around her and the garden was long and narrow. Now, in the garden, Philip is slowly spun around
02:09and angled, so he is facing the night sky. What he sees is unexplainable. What happened next would
02:19turn their world upside down. In the distance, over the rear fence, what looked like a silver
02:26balloon was rising.
02:32So this was, to me, otherworldly.
02:36As if by magic, the object was suspended in mid-air.
02:42It arched over the fence, hovering ominously.
02:47Suddenly, the mysterious object sped in the family's direction.
02:52As it flew closer and closer, the twins began to realize this was not like any balloon they
02:58had seen before.
03:00Firstly, it seemed to be flying along a direct trajectory, as if it was being controlled by
03:05an external or internal force.
03:08Although the object was only around the size of a football, its finish was that of a highly
03:14technological metal.
03:18As it came closer and closer, it halted, hovering silently over their grandmother's head.
03:24Grandma, look, look. And she turned around, and she said the most bizarre thing. She said,
03:31oh, look, the fairies have come to take a closer look at us. We realized at that point it wasn't
03:35the
03:35fairies, and that she was trying to, you know, calm us to the situation.
03:41This, to me, and Philip, was technology. It was technology. As I said, it was spherical, the size of a
03:48football. It didn't make any noise, but the surface was rather soiled. So that could amount to the reflection.
03:57Before they knew it, the object advanced towards the house, hanging around the second floor windows.
04:03It then traversed quickly over the roof of the house and disappeared out of sight.
04:08The incident confused, intrigued, and scared the young boys.
04:14You know, it was haunting. It was like something from Doctor Who. And it just hung over her head,
04:20and it was watching us. And, you know, in regard to a string or cord, there was nothing. Absolutely nothing.
04:29And just as we started down the woods, well, it went up through the trees.
04:32It looked like a big cigar shape, with light lit from both ends.
04:38Tonight, we have left the political arena, or the arena where men's minds and imagination take
04:44over from established facts and provable theories. We're going to examine that unfathomable area of
04:52outer space. Now, ridicule has been a very unfortunate factor in this thing. I know,
04:57but what it boils down to, that anybody who reports one now, they'll say, you're crazy. Look what the
05:02Conant Report said. Now, if we let the Conant Report go unchallenged, we would be guilty of letting
05:09these people be victimized. And there are many people who have been badly hurt by official ridicule
05:14after a sighting. The airline pilots today, most of them will not report a sighting publicly. And
05:19many pilots have told me, he said, I wouldn't report one to the Air Force if the thing flew right
05:23in the
05:23cockpit. Because they cite the case of Captain Killian, who was very badly ridiculed and finally
05:29silenced by his airline. According to his wife, said he was pressured. They were pressured into it by
05:37the Air Force. Now, that's hearsay. But the fact is, the man since that time has never answered any
05:42questions. He will not go on TV, radio and talk to reporters at all. And then it seemed to just
05:47go
05:47together and make a ball and fly out into that field. And it was a great big, huge yellow glow
05:53out there.
05:53And then there's another and it come down and it looked like big red wheels, like a wagon wheel.
06:13They didn't realize it then, but this would be thought of as their first experience of alien
06:18contact. So that's how it started. It was a sighting of what we would call a UFO, an unidentified flying
06:27object. It was quite small to be a UFO. My brothers always said that it was an eye, rather like
06:35the
06:35Foo Fighters in World War Two that were spotted. In popular culture, the term UFO refers to suspected
06:44alien spacecraft. Although its definition encompasses any unexplained aerial phenomena.
06:56Reports of UFOs have been a constant throughout history.
07:03As far back as we can tell, humans have always observed the sky above them,
07:09noticing objects, lights and movements that they can't explain.
07:17As our understanding of science has developed, these occurrences have become increasingly rare.
07:23Cases that remain unidentified and that some people would say is an argument for
07:31there being an extraterrestrial explanation are very rare.
07:39However, although many UFOs can now be easily identified, the mysteries that remain become even more intriguing.
07:56It's an enigma. The UFO subject is an enigma. It's a puzzle. We can't solve it.
08:06Most cases we get misidentifications, the occasional hoax, you know, airplanes, planets, you name it.
08:17And there is a small percentage that at the end of the day, no matter how hard you try,
08:23and I can be as skeptical as anyone, and I am, there still remains cases that are unidentified.
08:43Philip and Ronald described the UFO. They saw that afternoon as a sort of foo-fighter.
08:49This was the term used by World War II pilots to describe UFOs seen in the skies.
08:55The United States Air Force began to report the mysterious crafts in the early 1940s.
09:07Allied pilots flying over Europe would report glowing spherical objects flying alongside aircraft.
09:14They would glow orange, red, and green. They never showed up on radars, and would outmaneuver sophisticated aircraft.
09:31I have seen UFOs, and so I don't need persuading. I've seen these objects in the sky.
09:37Are you looking for little green men or what?
09:40No. No, not little green men or women.
09:43I believe that the UFO phenomena and the crop circles are totally connected,
09:49and it's to reawaken an ancient knowledge that we forgot.
09:56Some tried to explain these phenomena as being the result of hallucinations,
10:00or even top-secret German weapons. However, some are certain that the strange objects are,
10:06in fact, alien spacecraft.
10:10But for the majority, they will pass it off as an explainable phenomena. Atmospheric distortions,
10:17light refractions, secret technology. They will go through everything other than what it might possibly be.
10:26The twins, Philip and Ronald, would both become ufologists, practitioners of the study of UFOs.
10:34However, Philip and Ronald's encounter with the silver orb wasn't the only unearthly encounter they have experienced.
10:43It instead signaled the beginning of a series of strange occurrences.
10:48And it wasn't until the period of 1989, the winter of 1989, where the full scale of this phenomena really
10:56dug into me.
10:57And I had what most people assume was the negative reduction.
11:08Marston Morton, Bedfordshire, England.
11:13Marston Moore, a tame as a village in England, was the winter of 1989.
11:19Philip and Ronald were now 20 years old.
11:23It had been seven years since the incident in Middlesex.
11:28Although the UFO incident had a big impact on the twins,
11:31they found it easy to dismiss it as an isolated incident of childhood strangeness.
11:37However, in the space of 24 hours, how Philip and Ronald would see the world
11:42and the possibility of extraterrestrial visitors would change forever.
12:04Philip recalls walking from the station to his house.
12:07They lived on a cul-de-sac in a house with a frosted glass front door.
12:13The young man greeted the family dog, Benji.
12:17His twin brother and his sister were both at home while their mother was at work.
12:23I'm just, you know, talking generally, got my back leaned against the cabinets in the kitchen,
12:29so I could look out towards the hall and through the frosted glass doors to the front of the house.
12:36In the kitchen, Philip began to notice a change in the atmosphere around him.
12:40It could only be described as a strange electrical feeling, a vibrational interference.
12:46He had no idea what was happening or what was about to happen.
12:54Following the change in atmosphere, Benji also began to react to something.
12:59His ears perked up before growling, eventually barking,
13:03perhaps using his heightened senses to detect a danger Philip could not yet see.
13:08Suddenly, Ronald froze and his head craned up to the ceiling.
13:15As if in a trance, he says.
13:18There's going to be an earthquake or grandma's going to die.
13:21Well, his statement made no sense to me. There was no earthquake and grandma was still very much alive during
13:26that point.
13:27The statement seemed to make no sense to Philip.
13:31It was like wires had been crossed in his twin brother's head.
13:36With Ronald still in a trance,
13:38an overwhelmingly bright light streamed through the frosted glass of the front door.
13:45The light saturated everything it touched.
13:47The door itself seemed to be altered by the impact of the light.
13:53As if the whole structure had somehow turned to jelly.
13:56It moved backwards and forwards in an unexplainable way.
14:02Part of my mind thinking this is not possible.
14:04This is not happening.
14:06The same token, my brother is still in his trance, or if that's what it was, a trance.
14:10We don't know what it was.
14:12And I don't know what my sister had been doing to the far left.
14:15But remember, this was happening in initially seconds.
14:19At this point, Benji is barking hysterically.
14:23As the light gets brighter and brighter,
14:25Philip's attention is swiftly alerted to a force coming through the glass of the still closed door.
14:32The force manifests itself as a figure.
14:35A humanoid silhouette, standing no more than three feet tall, clad in all black,
14:41wearing what appeared to be an oversized helmet on its head.
14:45The atmospheric pressure increased to an unbearable peak
14:48as the figure suddenly shot into the boy's shared bedroom.
14:53Terrified, Philip grabbed the nearest knife,
14:56yelling that there is an intruder in the house.
15:00The thing, whatever it was, shot from the room across the hall
15:03and up the stairs where it disappeared.
15:13The moment it disappeared was like a plug being pulled from the socket.
15:18Ronald snapped out of his peculiar trance.
15:21The front door in the atmosphere returned to normal.
15:25The distressed family conducted a search of the house,
15:28but nothing was found.
15:32We made a search of the property, nothing could be found,
15:35and I remembered that I broke down that night because I couldn't explain what had happened.
15:41The whole thing seemed unreal, but it really happened.
15:47There was so much that couldn't be explained by science,
15:50or even rationalized by the twins.
15:52What had Ronald's statement meant, and why did he say it?
16:00My brother can't even begin to understand why he went into the trance that he did,
16:05or why he came out with those random things.
16:08How is it possible for something to move through solid matter?
16:11And what was that thing?
16:15Could this bizarre encounter be alien contact?
16:20Philip was understandably distressed by the events of the afternoon.
16:25This no longer felt like the UFO event of his childhood,
16:28that their grandmother could describe as the fairies coming to visit.
16:33The visitors were gradually feeling more and more insidious.
16:38It was later in the early hours of the morning that things would become even more unexplainable.
16:45Philip awoke to find himself hovering on his back.
16:50He was inexplicably in the hallway, suspended about three feet above the ground.
16:56He felt himself slowly pulled towards the kitchen, head first.
17:00Philip describes moving through the glass of the door.
17:04Just like the small figure before, somehow, solid matter has become malleable.
17:11And my mind's thinking, that's not possible.
17:14How are they able to get through physical matter?
17:18I couldn't work out what was going on.
17:21Philip couldn't move his body.
17:23He couldn't make any noise.
17:25He couldn't scream for help or escape.
17:28The force carried on moving his body through the conservatory and out to the garden.
17:34I wasn't panicked. I was almost like,
17:37well, if there's something that's got a hold of me or taking control of me,
17:40then I'm just going to go with it.
17:42There were what could be hundreds of UFOs littering the sky,
17:46moving quickly and unpredictably.
17:49One stationary gray, metallic, spherical object commanded his attention.
17:54As Philip gazed at it, he could feel his body quickly moving up through the air and towards the sky.
18:02And as I come towards it, come right up to it, I black out.
18:12Slowly realizing his surroundings, Philip is horrified.
18:22If you could put yourself in a situation where you don't know where you are,
18:24it's not because I immediately woke up and I found myself in a kind of like a medical room.
18:31It was very hot.
18:33I was naked.
18:35I was strapped to some kind of bed.
18:38Philip is trapped in an unknown medical setting.
18:44Unable to move, he stares, terrified at the three silhouettes that towered over him.
18:51When I looked to my right, there were three tall beings that were kind of like enveloped in this mist.
19:01And for want of a better word, the only way I could describe them was that they looked like reptilians.
19:07Reptilians are thought to be a species of humanoid aliens that have been reported in many alien abduction cases.
19:15Described as shape-shifting, scaled-skinned and tall,
19:18it is thought that they can infiltrate human society through a sophisticated disguise.
19:25Seeing them horrified me.
19:27One, because I'm strapped and I can't move.
19:30I'm being held against my will.
19:32And there are these three beings to my direct right that don't seem to have any care for me.
19:40To them, I feel like I'm just a piece of meat on a slab.
19:44There was an indescribable feeling in his lower abdomen.
19:47He knew without even looking that some sort of foreign implement had been inserted.
19:53Philip describes it as having an organic feeling.
19:57So I knew that whatever they were doing was something that I,
20:03my mind couldn't understand.
20:05And I started to yell and scream for them to take this thing out.
20:09I wanted this thing out.
20:16To me, it felt like rape.
20:19It was degradation and completely senseless.
20:26Abductees consistently report undergoing forced psychological and physical medical procedures.
20:32The captors are often said to be interested in the human reproductive system.
20:36These procedures are usually called probing.
20:44Why are these aliens abducting innocent people?
20:49What do they want to gain from their bizarre procedures?
20:55Because of a lack of material evidence,
20:57what we know comes from human first-hand accounts of their time being abducted.
21:02From hearing stories like Philip's, believers have tried to piece together accounts to gain answers to their many questions.
21:13Very horrifying.
21:15I mean, you know, people, they can laugh or joke about it.
21:18But to me, it was one of the most life-changing events ever.
21:26There are lots of theories about what the goal is of the aliens in their experiments.
21:33The way that they go about the abduction process is covered under, you know, darkness.
21:40Obviously, they don't want any form of interaction with us as humans.
21:43It's as if they want to keep their project silent.
21:46I think it's important.
21:48My conclusion in that area is that there are, in fact, five different points of view
21:53that one can have towards this problem.
21:56One of these I would label as prejudiced.
21:59A second one I would label as being party-line.
22:03A third one I would label as being skeptical.
22:06And by that I mean open-minded.
22:09A fourth one would be that point of view of the believer.
22:13And a fifth one is the point of view of the contactee.
22:18Contactee.
22:19The individual who operates on the assumption that it is possible to communicate
22:26with the occupants of flying saucers or UFOs or whatever you choose to call them.
22:36Some abductees report incidents of interspecies breeding,
22:40leading people to theorize that a hybridization program could be at the heart of the abductions.
22:47Could it be possible that there is a goal for creating alien-human hybrids?
22:54This theory has led people to think about how there could be a danger of aliens
22:58wanting to colonize our home planet with a new altered life form.
23:04Some even believe that the creation of all human life on Earth is the result of alien genetic experiments.
23:12Some people ask, is it possible that these visitors are simply as curious about us as we are about them?
23:22If there is a highly intelligent extraterrestrial life form,
23:25could they see these experiments the way that some humans view animal testing?
23:33It could definitely be seen as a possibility that the seemingly cruel procedures are viewed by the aliens as necessary
23:40for scientific advancement.
23:43If this species does, in fact, possess an incredibly advanced way of thinking,
23:48could we be seen as equivalent to test mice?
23:52Another phenomenon reported after the events of an alien abduction procedure is that of an implant
23:58inserted by the captors claimed reasons for this range from tracking to mind control.
24:05On the spacecraft, Philip felt the device that was inserted into his lower abdomen to be extracted mechanically.
24:17The three figures that were present before had disappeared.
24:23He noticed a small figure coming through a partition of light. It is what he describes as a gray.
24:30The believer is someone who accepts the idea that there are real UFOs and directs his attention to the question,
24:40why are they here? What are they doing? What do they want from us? What are their motivations?
24:47There is the assumption of intelligence or intelligent control, but not necessarily the assumption of direct
24:55communication between these intelligences and our own intelligence.
25:02This gray came forward and the device was being extracted mechanically. I assumed I didn't see
25:10anyone taking it out. It felt like it's being pulled out and I was ordered to dress. So I kind
25:16of like thought,
25:16well, this thing's got me out of the situation or getting me out of it. I need to dress. So
25:20I dressed into my
25:22pajamas and I was ordered to follow it down this slight corner where I couldn't see. And it turned out
25:28to be a
25:29corridor, a very small corridor. And it was quite misty still. And I could see some lights, but couldn't see
25:35where the source of light was coming from.
25:37And the gray stopped at what I thought was a wall. And I looked at it and it looked at
25:42me and immediately it wants me out.
25:45I have to go. And I'm like, well, how do you expect me to go? And immediately the wall opened
25:53to a door.
25:53I didn't see a door opening. It just turned into like nothing there, but I could see the village from
25:58a last height.
26:03What Philip describes as grays is thought to be a species of alien.
26:10When we think of an alien, there is always going to be an image that comes to mind.
26:14More often than not, it is an image similar to that of a gray.
26:22They are described as humanoid gray skinned beings with unusually large heads.
26:27They are said to have exaggerated, large, opaque, completely black eyes.
26:32Often two types of grays are described, one smaller and one taller and more powerful.
26:39Because of the prevalence of grays in reports of sightings and abductions,
26:44they have become an iconic representation in media and culture.
26:49Grays were popularized by films such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
27:05And TV shows such as The X-Files.
27:27I think the reality of this is something, perhaps why the system is keeping quiet because of the horrific nature
27:37of how people will react to that reality.
27:40If the media stated on the news channels that UFOs are real and so too are aliens,
27:48how then are they going to explain about the procedures of abductions that occur?
27:54You know, oh, but what we haven't told you is that there are certain species called the grays that, you
27:59know, that come in the dead of night.
28:01They infiltrate, they infiltrate through solid matter, they can abduct you, they can do experiments on you,
28:07they can screen your memory so you forget more times than not, and they'll put you back.
28:11You know, people aren't going to be able to handle that.
28:14This alien species has become synonymous with abduction reports, leading skeptics to ask what came first,
28:21and what are the lines between fact and fiction.
28:29Now here on this map are pinpointed locations where some 30 saucers have been sighted and are still unexplained.
28:37Item, June 24th, 1947, between Chehalis and Yakima in the state of Washington,
28:43private pilot Kenneth Arnold sighted nine saucer-like things flying like geese in a chain-like line.
28:49He estimated the speed of the saucers at 1,200 miles per hour.
28:54Item, January 7th, 1948, over Fort Knox, Kentucky.
28:59Captain Thomas Mantell and two other Air Force fighter pilots chased a strange object like an ice cream cone with
29:05red on top.
29:06To 20,000 feet, Captain Mantell kept going while the others turned back.
29:12Captain Mantell's plane was found the next day, scattered over half a mile of farmland.
29:17I feel that over a period of time, a couple of years now, that I have been in a position
29:24to look at some of the evidence,
29:26and certainly I have not seen all of the evidence that might be pertinent.
29:30I, too, have been driven in the direction of recognizing that there are cases that are not explainable in conventional
29:40terms.
29:42This at least leaves us with the existence of a real UFO.
29:47Beyond that, there is the question of whether some of these real UFOs may be under intelligent control.
29:55Again, at the present time, I would say that I have seen evidence that is readily interpretable in such terms,
30:03but which may also be susceptible of other interpretation.
30:07Alan Dumas, an Air Force photographer stationed in Illinois, states that he saw something like this.
30:13This is Alan Dumas.
30:14I was stationed at an Air Force base in Illinois as an Air Force photographer.
30:19On the afternoon of June 1st, 1951, I was very fortunate in taking a picture of an aerial object,
30:27undoubtedly that of a flying saucer.
30:29A clear photograph shows a definite disc-shaped object, including a turret, at an altitude of 5,000 to 10
30:35,000 feet.
30:36The Air Force, at this time, declared that this was either a weather balloon or a conventional-type airplane.
30:44However, I feel the photographs show definite proof that this object is not of familiar origin.
30:50It remained in view for about 25 seconds, and in that time, covering a large portion of the sky,
30:57and then it disappeared beyond the horizon.
31:00A notable early description of Gray's in an abduction case comes from Barney and Betty Hill.
31:05It is often thought of as the first widely publicized alien abduction.
31:12The Hills lived in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, USA.
31:16They believed they were abducted by extraterrestrials.
31:20At 10.30 p.m. on September 19, 1961, the Hills were driving back from a vacation at Niagara Falls.
31:33As Betty and Barney drove down a dark stretch of Highway 3,
31:37Betty claimed to have noticed a bright light in the sky.
31:43Betty first thought it was a shooting star.
31:45However, bizarrely, it only moved upwards.
31:49Furthermore, the lights seemed to be moving around erratically.
31:53As the couple carried on driving, the lights seemed to be getting bigger and brighter.
31:58They stopped the car,
32:02and Betty exited to observe the lights through her binoculars.
32:08Through the binoculars, there seemed to be some sort of craft with flashing lights moving across the night sky.
32:23The couple got back into the car to taste the craft,
32:26to gain some answers to what they were seeing.
32:33Suddenly, the object started to fall from the sky rapidly.
32:37The Hills, cars screeched to a halt in the middle of the highway.
32:45The craft hovered as Barney grabbed the binoculars.
32:48He claimed to see 8 to 11 humanoid figures looking back at him from the windows of the craft.
33:00As the figures stared at Barney and Betty, a buzzing sound was noted.
33:16And the couple then reported entering a trance-like state.
33:34They would awaken two hours later,
33:36sitting in their car 56 kilometers away from where they had previously stopped
33:41with no idea of what had just happened.
33:52To add to their confusion,
33:54they soon discovered that their watches had stopped working,
33:57the strap on the binoculars had broken,
33:59and a pink powder substance had stained Betty's dress.
34:03Betty would go on to report unusually vivid dreams she had
34:06in the days and weeks that followed the supposed abduction.
34:12She dreamt of small humanoid men
34:15leading her up a ramp into a disc-shaped craft.
34:24To seek answers,
34:26the couple sought the help of a psychiatrist
34:28who used hypnosis on the two to try to find out what happened that night.
34:33During their hypnosis sessions,
34:35Barney and Betty's accounts were shocking.
34:38Similar to Betty's dreams,
34:40gray beings were sent to walk them up to a spacecraft.
34:47They were then examined in an unexplained medical setting.
34:51They removed all their clothes
34:53and took samples of their skin, hair, and nails.
34:56They described being probed with needles,
34:59with one large needle being inserted into Betty's stomach.
35:13Philip and the Hill's abduction cases
35:15are a good example of a pattern.
35:18Many abductees and skeptics have noticed.
35:21First, the abductee will be captured by the aliens, like Philip.
35:26They could be levitated into a floating spacecraft.
35:32Next, abductees report the examination phase of the experience for Philip.
35:37This involves some sort of organic instrument
35:39inserted into his lower abdomen.
35:42The Hill's describe similar examinations.
35:46Upon return to Earth,
35:47often the abductee will experience missing time,
35:51leading to a realization
35:53that they believe that they have been abducted by aliens.
35:58Abductions are described as an extremely traumatic event,
36:01degrading and distressing.
36:03Many experience symptoms
36:05similar to that of post-traumatic stress disorder.
36:09To a believer in aliens,
36:11the similarities in many abduction cases
36:14suggest a sinister uniform procedure.
36:17It seems to be orchestrated for a purpose.
36:21Could it be complex genetic experiments
36:23that change the very meaning of being human?
36:28For skeptics, however,
36:30similarities in cases
36:31instead conclude the power of false memories,
36:34cases of sleep paralysis and hoaxes.
36:41It is true that often when cases of alien abduction reach the media,
36:46they are met with scorn and ridicule.
36:49People can think these sorts of incidents
36:51belong strictly in the realm of science fiction.
36:55But for those who experienced it,
36:57it is no joke.
36:59I am firmly convinced that
37:01such an explanation is not valid for all of them.
37:04It might be in few cases,
37:05but there is still remaining a solid block
37:08of very reliable, good observations
37:11which cannot be explained by such means.
37:13Do you still hold to the fact
37:15that they are visitors from another planet?
37:18Yes, I do.
37:19Definitely.
37:20People laugh at you.
37:21You have been abducted by aliens.
37:24But it is not quite like that.
37:25The experience is very different.
37:27And I think when you have gone through something trauma-based,
37:32you know, you come out the other end
37:33and you are a survivor.
37:34It changes you.
37:35This is what has happened to me.
37:37Have I gone through some form of transformation?
37:39Yes, I think I have.
37:40And it is all due to wonderful people
37:44within the UFO community as well
37:45that has helped me understand that.
37:46So you find that you are not alone at all.
37:51I, I, yeah, I agree with that.
37:54But I wouldn't say there is anger.
