02:56Located close to the Pyrenees,
02:58it's been home to Carlton and Alicia since 2023,
03:04when they bought the Chateau for £690,000.

06:38From turreted towers to rustic ruins, France is home to thousands of chateaux.
06:47And many dream of owning one of their own.
06:54Jewelry maker Eleanor from Hull and her French husband Ben, an IT director, are two such people.
07:03They're looking for a grand home for themselves, their five-year-old daughter and Eleanor's retired parents.
07:12I'm just looking forward to be wowed by property on time.

07:20The chateaus are just nice and grand and big and I just love the history of it all.
07:26And, I don't know, I just want to glide down the stairs and just imagine I'm back in that period

07:39The couple have a budget of £600,000 plus £200,000 for renovations.
07:46And their ideal property needs to have space for a jewellery workshop,
07:54as well as outbuildings for converting into jeet.

12:02Inside, there is currently a dining room, and a great hall which doubles up as a bedroom, while the serious

12:15The massive task, to bring what was mostly a ruin back to life, proved the perfect project for Cotswold antique
12:24dealers Catherine and Steve,
12:27who snapped it up in 2022 for less than £100,000.
12:34Being here is like escapism for us, isn't it?

12:43This isn't possible in the UK.

12:45We could not find a building like this.

14:01So, I'm going to use plywood in a section here running up behind the width of the sink unit.
14:08So, we're going to come up and it's going to lose these and all these joints and this cable that's
14:13running across.
14:14The whole thing is a bit of a mess.

21:29So they were basically plain cupboards and so I've added the wood to give it a little bit of texture

30:34beautified ahead of their first ever wedding event.
30:39Here in the barn, I'm going to cover up all of the sort of the tools and tiled area.
30:45It will form a barrier and just make the bottom end look tidy, neat and more wedding-like.
30:52We've partitioned at the back.
30:54So now this is just to beautify, isn't it?

31:01So I bought quite a lot of tool and we're going to basically create a curtain all the way along.
31:10So this will be the wedding venue and from this point on it should look a little bit prettier and

31:20The bride and groom are then going to come in and basically take this blank canvas and decorate it to

31:29I've heard them talking about garlands and things hanging from the wall, but really we're just creating a blank canvas.
31:42It could be a very, very, very long veil or Rapunzel's hair, one of the two.
31:53So when we viewed the chateau, this barn was a big selling point because I wanted to do events, I
32:00wanted to do weddings.
32:01I knew it was perfect for it and especially as it looks out onto the main grass area, which is
32:08equally as beautiful.

42:12The myriad of pipes and cables have been artfully covered and painted in a warm charcoal grey.
42:21Painting the ceiling in the same dark hue has created a cosy cocoon of warmth.
