00:00Hello, I'm Graham Hall. I'm known as the Dogfather and you might have seen me on Channel 5's dogs
00:04behaving very badly. Well, I'm here in the Tavistock area at Langford Farm, actually on the
00:09New Lawnstone Road, because I'm helping Devon and Cornwall Police with their inquiries. Well,
00:13not quite. I'm here on their invitation to get the message out about livestock worrying, basically,
00:20and dogs. There is a real problem in the country, and no less so than here in the West Country,
00:25with dogs attacking or worrying livestock, particularly sheep. One of the things that
00:31people don't realise, I think, about sheep worrying, which is a strange phrase, is that sheep don't
00:38necessarily need to be attacked, which is clearly very bad. They can just be chased by dogs, even a
00:44dog that thinks they're having fun and their hearts can give out. Any farmer will tell you it's a bit
00:49of a job to keep a sheep alive. And we're not just talking about sheep, so there are new rules
00:54out
00:54this year. There's a new law, in fact. I think we all know what farmers can do if they really
01:00need
01:00to, in extreme circumstances, they can shoot the dog. We're all trying to avoid that. There's a really,
01:06really simple rule. If you're anywhere near livestock, when you're out on a walk, keep your dog on a lead.
01:12There's a time and a place to let them off. And anywhere near livestock, tender place is in.
