A look at how Tenby's new Brynhir housing development is progressing

Pembrokeshie County Council have given an update on the new housing development being built in Tenby.
“Despite a challenging winter period, work at Brynhir continues to progress well and remains firmly on schedule,” stated as spokesperson for PCC’s housing services.
Initial work for the much-antcipated housing development for the seaside town commenced last November by developers Morgan Construction Wales. A new junction and access road was recently completed.
In 2018, PCC, which already owned the 15-acre Brynhir site located on Old Narberth Road ‘bought’ the land for £4million using its Housing Revenue Account
Completion of the whole site is anticipated by summer 2029.
Some of the key milestones achieved so far include:
• Site clearance works completed in line with the EPS Licence
• Archaeological strip, map and record works completed
• New entrance highway works from Narberth Road substantially completed
• Earthworks and drainage works well advanced across the site
• Foundation works now underway
• Landscaping and planting works already being established
These homes will range in size and consist of 93 affordable housing (social and intermediate rent), 16 shared ownership, and 16 open market sale.
The development will also include a range of formal and informal play and recreational areas throughout the site, with direct links into the town.
“Once complete, Brynhir will provide 125 high-quality, energy-efficient homes in Tenby, with 93 of these allocated as affordable housing for individuals and families on the Choice Homes@Pembrokeshire Housing Register,” continued PCC’s spokesperson.
“Remaining homes will be available through a shared ownership scheme or open market sale.”
Wynne and Co Chartered Accountants from Carmarthen, who visited the site earlier this month, shared: “I’d visited about six weeks earlier and the scale of development in that time is nothing short of astounding! The site is impressive.”
Morgan Construction Wales are the developers behind Saundersfoot’s Nant Y Dderwen housing scheme.
