00:00Eight people have been detained to assist in an investigation into fashion retailer Padini Holings Berhad, says Malaysian Anti-Corruption
00:08Commission Chief Azam Baki.
00:12Azam said that statements have been recorded from 10 individuals so far, Brita Harian reported.
00:19He said another 15 individuals are currently being tracked down to have their statements recorded and investigations are ongoing.
00:27Azam said the freeze on the company's assets, including several bank accounts, remained in place.
00:34In late April, MACC froze several accounts belonging to Padini and its subsidiaries as part of a money laundering investigation.
00:44The fashion retailer said the freezing was linked to investigations involving several third parties outside the company
00:51and that it had appointed lawyers to unfreeze the affected accounts while business operations continued as usual.
