00:00I'd need to call out the New South Wales Police who have significantly increased resourcing
00:06through Operation Shelter and increased their presence through taskings, through static
00:12presence outside synagogues and schools and events. The Jewish community no longer feels
00:18safe going out and about given not just the terror attack but harassment and intimidation
00:24across a whole range of settings so the presence of the New South Wales Police has provided
00:31some level of reassurance to enable life to continue.
00:35Today the Government is pleased to receive Commissioner Bell's interim report.
00:39We support the recommendations, all of them. It will be up to State and Territories of course.
00:47We'll have to give consideration to the very clear recommendations.
00:53There are two of the recommendations that make it clear that we should progress with
00:58nationally consistent gun reform.
01:00Can I start by saying this is sobering but important reading. The Royal Commission
01:05is an important opportunity to shine a spotlight on the questions that needed answering on December
01:11the 14th and ensuring that we do everything we possibly can to stop it from happening again.
01:17We take the recommendations incredibly seriously and the three of us are here to say
01:22we will implement them in full. We thank the Royal Commissioner for undertaking this work.
01:26We thank you for Venmo and by the Royal Commission.
01:26I'm sorry.
01:26We're here to get to the Royal Commission.
