07:04Goldberg's in the backstage area looking for Sid Vicious.
07:08Some guy completely grasses on the big man, so don't trust this guy with your deepest,
07:12darkest secrets.
07:14And Mike Tenay then interviews Eddie Guerrero.
07:16Tenay wants to know how Konan's holding up, and Eddie says K-Dawg just left the arena
07:21to go to the hospital.
07:23He then checks his new gold Rolex that he stole from Ric Flair while saying it's about
07:27time he called Konan to check in on him.
07:29Eddie then goes out for his match against Saturn, Guerrero represents the filthy animals while Perry
07:35represents the revolution. It begins with a stun gun from Perry followed by a low dropkick from
07:40Guerrero. We then go to the outside where Eddie tries to use the ring steps to his advantage but
07:45that plan quickly backfires. Inside the ring, Saturn performs a pop-up powerbomb followed by
07:50his signature springboard forearm and the match slows down when Saturn brings it to the mat.
07:55Perry moves into an arm bar submission followed by a head scissor submission. There's a little
08:00excitement when Eddie takes an exploder suplex but we go right back to the mat where Saturn applies
08:04a knee bar. Definitely not the offense I'd expect from these two at all. They get up, Eddie performs
08:11a back suplex and the crowd begins to boo when Eddie performs a top wrist lock. Boring chants
08:16then begin as Eddie uses his knee to apply more pressure, though the crowd cheers a little
08:21when Saturn powers out. It's incredible to me that these two are getting boring chants during
08:26a pay per view encounter. Things get a little better when Perry pulls off a lion salt though
08:31he misses on his second attempt. This allows Eddie to pull off a brain buster before going
08:35up for the frog splash, Saturn moves out of the way though his springboard attack ends up getting
08:40snuffed out. Perry stays on his game though and he is able to stop Eddie from going upstairs
08:45again. Guerrero takes a northern light suplex from the top rope, Perry tries a top rope
08:50outsider's edge but Eddie dodges it. Latino he pulls off a superplex and that's gonna
08:55be the end of our match. Ric Flair comes down holding his crowbar and the bell rings when
09:00Flair attacks Eddie. Kidman tries to help Guerrero but he too takes a shot with the crowbar.
09:05Tory Wilson tries to shield Kidman but Ric pulls her away. And it all ends with Ric forcing
09:10himself on Tory with a big kiss. Tory does seem to like it by the way but that's neither
09:15here nor there. Ric heads back up the ramp and he totally forgets to retrieve his gold
09:19Rolex, so he runs back down to the commentary table to get his property back and there you
09:24have it. I don't know, I really don't know. Backstage, Goldberg's located Sid Vicious and
09:30he's beaten the ever-loving shit out of the big man. Sid's been busted open pretty badly
09:35and remember, these two are gonna face each other a little later on.
09:44Buff Bagwell comes to the ring and he says he has a problem with the two new riders from
09:48up north who are apparently here to save WCW. Yeah, watch reliving the war because I'm
09:54not going over all that again. Buff also has a problem with Mr Jeff Jarrett after what Double
09:59J did on Nitro, so Bagwell calls Jarrett out for a fight. Double J runs down, Buff takes him
10:04out easily with a couple of clotheslines, they go to the outside where Buff stays in control
10:09and back in the ring it looks like Jarrett's about to get his ass handed to him by Buff
10:13daddy. Lex Luger then shows up looking for some revenge, remember Liz was found on Nitro,
10:18knocked out with a guitar sitting beside her. So Luger swings Double J's guitar while aiming
10:23at Jeff but he hits Buff Bagwell instead and the guitar doesn't break, way to go total
10:29package. To make up for it he breaks the guitar on the top turnbuckle but I don't think this
10:33was a very good compromise. Sid Vicious is then seen backstage, freaking out after getting
10:38some stitches, god love him, and Eddie Guerrero phones Rey Mysterio while telling him he needs
10:43to come back to the arena, the filthy animals have some business they need to take care of.
10:48You never saw this many backstage cutaways in WCW PPVs before but this is gonna be something
10:54we'll be seeing a lot more of moving forward. It's not as bad as Nitro but it still feels weird.
11:00I don't mind promos here and there during PPVs at all but it already feels a little overdone
11:06tonight at Halloween Havoc.
11:22We've got Berlin vs Brad Armstrong next. This one's been building for around a month
11:26now and it's all centred around Berlin's unnamed bodyguard punching Brad in the face
11:31and costing him match victories. The match begins with Berlin getting in a cheap shot,
11:35he then pulls off a key lock takeover which isn't the move we see too often. Alex then
11:39shows some sick skills when getting out of a wrist lock but Brad's no slouch either
11:43with his arm drag takedown followed by a drop kick. Berlin goes back in control with a back
11:48suplex, a hard power bomb and a spinning wheel kick. Brad tries to gain some momentum with
11:52a running crossbody. The big Bradverse doesn't give his opponent a chance to follow up though
11:57and again the crowd's absolutely dead here. The only match they made noise for was the
12:02tag team title match and this is really concerning seeing as we're nearly halfway through the
12:07PPV. Armstrong grabs the ropes when Berlin goes for his neckbreaker, this allows Brad to
12:12score a pinfall win over Daz Wunderkind which was kinda surprising but what wasn't surprising
12:18was the post match chin lock from everyone's favourite German. The bodyguard knocked Brad down
12:23with another punch, Alex applies the most devastating move in pro wrestling history and Berlin puts
12:28on his cool shades before heading back up the ramp. Two fantastic performers right here and
12:33for some reason nothing's coming together at this PPV. You kinda expect something big here
12:38seeing as the feud was given a decent amount of time to sizzle on TV but I guess Alex already
12:44has something big and he didn't care much for beating Brad Armstrong. Ric Flair says he retrieved
12:49his property and his legacy when he took out the filthy animals earlier on. He then says
12:54he spanked Kimberly Page on Nitro like her daddy should've a long time ago, fuckin' hell.
12:59And the Nature Boy then confirms he will compete in this strap match later on and Kim can ride
13:04Space Mountain after the show or something, I don't know. He wants another few rounds with
13:09Kimberly, that's all I gathered. By the way, it's a bit weird that Page seems pretty
13:14okay with his wife getting spanked by another man. I mean, he was fired up earlier on but
13:19he didn't really care all that much about Ric's evil deeds. This would've been grounds
13:24for an all out war between two superstars but here it's like, eh, strap match, let's whack
13:29each other all night long.
13:35Chris Benoit defended his WCW TV title next against Rick Steiner. The DFG looked to regain
13:41his championship right here and he started off pretty well with a pop up scoop power slam.
13:45Chris replied with a few of those stiff knife edge chops before hitting his superplex pretty
13:50early in the match and Steiner had to get himself out of the ring before Benoit applied the crippler
13:54crossface. A brawl on the outside sees Benoit getting thrown into the ring steps but he shakes
13:59it off when the action returns to the ring. Ric gets wiped out with a dropkick and this leads
14:03to more time wasting on the outside but the match resumes with Ric hitting a low blow and
14:08Rick takes control of the match. Steiner decides to take it down to the mat and I guess he didn't
14:13watch the Saturn match earlier on, the crowd are on the verge of booing both men here but
14:17Ric goes for a chokehold and the referee forces a break. There's a terrible botch here when
14:22Chris tries to counter a powerbomb, something that brings Ric a great deal of joy, and the
14:27match resumes with Benoit getting slammed into the corner before Ric pulls off a great looking
14:31release German suplex. This gets followed up with another suplex and Ric's having fun at this
14:36point. Chris manages to counter and he pulls off a DDT, he then pays Ric back with multiple
14:41German suplexes, Ric then gets desperate and he throws the referee into his opponent and
14:46then Ric introduces a chair to the ring but he doesn't get a chance to use it. Chris suplexes
14:52his opponent, he shoves the chair into Ric's face, he goes up for the dive and headbutt,
14:56but Ric does manage to throw the chair into Chris's face. Both men are now on the canvas and here
15:03comes Dean Malenko. Malenko takes control of the chair, fans think he's going to swing
15:07at Ric Steiner but no, he hits Chris and this allows Steiner to win via pinfall. It's then
15:13confirmed that Dean Malenko is still part of the revolution as he gives Perry Saturn a big
15:18old hug on the entranceway, so the revolution are now officially a heel faction and Ric Steiner
15:23is your new TV champion. Next up we've got Bret Hart taking on the total package. Lex Luger
15:33got hit with a baseball bat on Nitro and Bret says this won't be the first time he's wrestled
15:37hurt even though doctors have said he shouldn't be competing tonight. Hart says the fans are
15:42behind him, an injury or not, that's all that matters. The competitors make their way
15:47down to the ring and you wouldn't think Bret was hurt as he takes control on the outside,
15:51Lex gets wrecked at the guardrail and ring steps and inside the ring, the hitman delivers a
15:56headbutt to Luger's midsection. Luger takes a few shots in the corner before getting choked
16:01out by his excellency. We go back to the outside where Elizabeth shoves the hitman but still
16:06Bret's able to remain focused on Lex. More fighting by the guardrail takes place before
16:10both men get back inside the ropes and Lex finally goes on offense after an eye poke.
16:16Shivani says this is the most vulnerable part of Bret Hart so there you go, learn something
16:20new every day. Lex struggles to turn the match around and Bret goes straight back on offense
16:24in no time at all. We see the rushing leg sweep, the inverted atomic drop and the hitman's
16:29backbreaker. Bret limps around the ring a little before delivering his second rope elbow drop,
16:34but a sharpshooter gets stopped with another poked at the eye, maybe Shivani was onto something
16:39earlier on. A hip toss spot to the outside looked pretty terrible but the fall results
16:44in Bret hurting his knee. He's now limping around on the outside and this one's pretty much
16:49over. Lex focuses on the injured body part when the match gets back in the ring and Bret Hart
16:54taps out to a single leg crab. Again, Bret Hart taps out to a single leg crab.
17:01This isn't hyperbole and this isn't me being funny, I think we just watched Bret Hart's
17:06worst WCW PPV match in possibly his worst PPV match of all time. They should have named this
17:12event, WCW Drizzlin' Shits 99. Goldberg says he's gonna separate Sid's head
17:20from the rest of his body, thanks for the update Billy Boy. Inside the arena, Medusa comes out
17:25the advertised WCW cologne that smells of failure, bad ratings and terrible PPVs. And this of course
17:31was just a reason to show off some skin. Medusa didn't want to compete in an evening gown
17:36match on Nitro but she still did it. She didn't want to promote this cologne but she still
17:41did it. In a way, I don't think having WCW guys being against the company turning into
17:46another WWF is necessarily a bad thing, but this is just bollocks really, isn't it?
17:52On Russo's first Nitro, he made Kimberly Page show off more skin than she's ever showed
17:56off before and then this happens at Halloween Havoc. So one of Russo's philosophies and tactics
18:02regarding bringing in viewers is very obvious and very apparent. Medusa says she doesn't
18:07want to do this and she pours the stinky cologne all over Bobby Heenan before walking
18:11back up the ramp. To be fair, the crowd did react to Medusa more than most guys that competed
18:16in the ring so yeah, it is what it is.
18:19Next up, it's the World Championship match between Sting and Hulk Hogan and fans should
18:23have known something was up seeing as there's so much time left on the card. We still haven't
18:27seen the DDP nor Goldberg matches, so the order this match got placed was a bit weird.
18:33We have been building up to this one since Fall Brawl, Hogan's looking for revenge ever
18:38since Sting backstabbed him last month, but Vince Russo makes a bold move here that greatly
18:43annoys fans in attendance. Hogan's music plays but he doesn't appear, the commentators
18:48have no idea what's going on but Sting decides to make his entrance while we await the arrival
18:53of Hulk Hogan. American made plays again and Hulk finally shows up, only he's not wearing
18:58the red and yellow and instead he's wearing regular street clothes. Hogan gets in the ring,
19:03he says something to his opponent that we can't hear, he then lays down on the mat and he allows
19:09staying to cover him for the 1-2-3. Immediately after the bell rings, Halloween Havoc cuts over
19:15to a Goldberg vs Sid hype video, so yes, the fans in attendance and fans watching at home got
19:20fucked over. This was supposed to play into those internet rumours we talked about a few
19:25weeks ago where Russo said he wanted to push Hogan away from the main event picture and
19:29it looks like Hogan was maybe trying, in storyline, to get one over on Russo by not wrestling on
19:35pay per view. So it's all a work bro, but it's the kind of bullshit work that robs fans
19:40of their hard earned money and there's never any upside to doing this kind of thing. Like
19:44imagine if you were a Hulk Hogan fan and you paid to see him wrestle. This pay per view was
19:49advertised with Hogan vs Sting. When the Goldberg vs Sid hype video ends, the crowd are still
19:55booing very loudly and you gotta wonder why Hogan agreed to do this. It's a terrible piece
20:00of business here at Halloween Havoc and a prime reason why many wrestling fans thought Vince
20:03Russo didn't know what he was doing.
20:10Sid Vicious began his own winning streak that mainly consisted of him interfering in matches
20:15and dishing out powerbombs. He stated that this streak would be the greatest of all time
20:19and in the new millennium only one name would matter and that name was Sid Vicious. Goldberg
20:25took exception to this and when Sid started mentioning Goldberg by name, Billy Boy challenged
20:29Sid to a fight. Sid got a contract drawn up where Goldberg wasn't allowed to touch the
20:34big man before Halloween Havoc, so Goldberg had some fun at Sid's expense by destroying
20:38his rental cars two weeks in a row, great stuff. Two weeks ago, Goldberg decided to spear Sid
20:44because, well, why not? And on the past episode of Nitro, Sid brought in his lawyers while announcing
20:49the match at Halloween Havoc was now cancelled. This was all a ploy to get Goldberg in the ring
20:54for a cheap shot, Goldberg completely destroyed one of Sid's attorneys with a spear and in
20:58return Goldberg took a powerbomb. Sid then shoved the contract in Goldberg's mouth while
21:03announcing he was still going to kick Billy Boy's ass at the pay per view.
21:06Earlier on, Goldberg busted Sid open and the WCW doctors aren't too good at stitching
21:12up the talent it seems. That cuts on the verge of opening up again at any moment and it doesn't
21:16take long for this one to turn into a complete bloodbath. Sid's gonna defend his US belt
21:21here tonight but before that can happen, Goldberg gets jumped by Scott Hall and Kevin Nash.
21:26The outsiders were trying to find Goldberg on Nitro while Kevin Nash chugged on NyQuil all
21:30night, not even joking. So the lads finally get their hands on Billy Boy and Nash lays him out
21:36with a big boot. Sid then goes on offense and the opening bell rings while the men fight
21:40on the entranceway, makes perfect sense. And even after taking a beating from the outsiders,
21:45Goldberg goes straight on offense as the two fight at ringside. The big man takes a few
21:50shots at the ring steps before Goldberg tries his best to open Sid up again. A ton of right
21:54hands does get the job done but Sid's not out yet. The US champ gets back in the ring and
21:59throws a few hard forearms into Goldberg's chest. And the challenger then gets put down
22:04with another big boot. A bloody Sid applies a camel clutch but Goldberg won't give up.
22:09Instead he shows off some crazy strength with an electric chair drop and finally, finally,
22:14this crowd and the MGM are enjoying a wrestling match. Goldberg wrenches down on Sid's neck
22:19before throwing more right hands. The referee now looks concerned for Sid's well-being and Goldberg's
22:24delivering on his promise. He said he was gonna beat the hell out of Sid and that's exactly what's
22:29happening. Sid crawls to his corner while Mickie J asks him if he wants to continue. He tries his best
22:35to fight back while on his knees but Sid's just trying to survive right now. Goldberg performs a
22:40clothesline before bringing Sid back to the corner for more punches. Sid again tries to fight but
22:45there's no point, the fight's been completely beaten out of him. He gives it one last shot
22:50while stuck in the corner but he doesn't have any power left in his punches. Goldberg just shakes it
22:56off before bringing the US champ to the middle of the ring and the referee has no choice but to
23:00stop
23:00the match. Sid's unable to continue and Mickie J's saving the big man before he gets seriously injured.
23:06Goldberg wins the US championship at Halloween Havoc and hey, it wasn't a technical masterpiece but I
23:12enjoyed how violent this was. Rick Steiner comes out to check on Sid, Sid screams that he wanted to
23:18continue but the referee believes he made the right decision and that's how it ends ladies and gents.
23:23Goldberg was, and still seen as, a one trick pony but this was a completely different kind of match
23:29for Bill. It wasn't pretty but it was effective so while I can totally understand why others would
23:34dismiss this match like everything else that happened at this pay per view, I actually thought this one
23:39was fine, it suited the rivalry these two had heading into Halloween Havoc.
23:48The Stinger comes out to announce he came to Halloween Havoc for a fight. He doesn't mention
23:53why Hogan did what he did but he does say he wants to compete tonight at the pay per view.
23:58He issues an
23:59open challenge to anyone in the back, the crowd goes nuts and remember, again, Sting supposed to be a
24:05deal. At least we'll see Sting go up against someone who's not going to lay down in the middle of
24:09the
24:09ring. But before we get to that, it's time for the strap match, Diamond Dallas Page vs Ric Flair.
24:14These two are going to beat and whack each other all night long so parents, send your children to bed.
24:20No need to touch the four corners in this one, you can only win via pinfall or submission, I think.
24:25It takes a while for both men to get strapped up but we start with Flair in control. DDP takes
24:30a knife edge
24:31chop and a few punches to the jaw, Flair then whips his opponent with that pretty large strap, DDP takes
24:36the usual corner bump when both men end up on the outside and we go all the way up the
24:41entrance way
24:42where momentum shifts from one competitor to the other. The two men then fight all the way through
24:46the audience and again, neither man gains the advantage. This goes on for quite some time and
24:51when Ric gets back over the guardrail, he decides to force himself on another woman. This time,
24:56Kimberly Page gets put in the figure 4 lip lock and this allows Dallas to attack from behind. I'm still
25:02confused, this should fire DDP up big time but again, he's like, well, okay, whatever. Ric blades after
25:09getting his head smacked off the guardrail. WCW were quite conservative when it came to blood but
25:14denied they don't seem to care at all. DDP stays on his opponent outside the ring, the two end up
25:20fighting
25:20at the commentary table and the commentary team decide to leave their positions while Page stays on his
25:25opponent. If this were Jim Ross and the king, they would have stayed put for shits and giggles.
25:30In the ring, we see the real people's elbow but Flair kicks out at two. DDP takes a low blow
25:35and Kim
25:35watches her man get whipped like a dog, Page then takes another low blow from Ric only this time it
25:40was in the corner, and the nature boy delivers his signature knee drop before shifting his focus
25:44on Page's leg and knee. Flair softens Page up for the inevitable figure 4, the move gets applied and
25:50it looks like Page is fading out. Dallas manages to kick out at two even though he's got the strap
25:55wrapped around his neck and I do like how the referee doesn't help Page at all, I mean, the guy
26:00could die right here, couldn't he? Page makes it to the ropes and Dallas retaliates by headbutting the
26:05nature boy right in the dick. Ric then gets choked out with that strap and Dallas delivers a diamond
26:10cutter. DDP covers Ric, the ref counts one, he counts two, Flair doesn't get his shoulder up yet Robinson
26:17stops his count and fuck this pay per view man, what the hell's going on. Page looks at Robinson,
26:24Charles looks really confused, the referee then calls for the bell and DDP wins. I don't know man,
26:30I really don't know. I want to say it was merely a timing issue but knowing this company now and
26:35who's writing these matches, you just don't know if you're getting worked bro. Honestly, I do think it
26:40was just a referee mistake but it still looked terrible, a great way to ruin what was becoming an okay
26:46match.
26:46The referee takes a diamond cutter, Page chokes out Ric, David Flair tries to get in the ring but he's
26:52stopped by Kim, that I can actually buy, and Page gets revenge for what Flair did to Kim by smashing
26:58Space Mountain with David's crowbar. Kim looks on as David gets in the ring to take the worst
27:03diamond cutter bump I've ever seen so far in WCW, and yeah, another disaster tonight at Halloween Havoc.
27:09DDP shoots Kimberly an odd look as she heads back up the ramp, EMTs come down to save Ric Flair's
27:15knob,
27:16he wonders how he could mess up a diamond cutter bump so badly and Charles Robinson says don't
27:21worry, I messed up the three count. Ric gets stretchered out of the arena but the filthy
27:26animals jump slick Ric before he makes it into the ambulance, David tries to help but of course
27:30he's totally useless. The faction throw Flair into the ambulance before taking over the wheel
27:35and it all ends with the filthy animals driving off into the night. Absolutely wild.
27:46So who's gonna step up and face the world heavyweight champion tonight? Sting says it's showtime,
27:52it's time to find out who's gonna step up to the plate. There's fans chanting for Hogan but it's not
27:57Hulk who walks down the ramp, no, it's Bill Goldberg. Now Sting didn't say this was gonna be a world
28:03title
28:03match and Tony Schiavone also tells fans at home that this isn't gonna be for the belt. Schiavone
28:08did think originally it was gonna be a title match but he got corrected on his headset.
28:13Sting stalls at the opening bell but the match begins with Goldberg then in a few knee strikes.
28:17A clothesline spot then gets botched but the US champ stays on his opponent and the two end up on
28:22the
28:22outside. Sting gets his head drilled into the commentary table, he gets thrown into the guardrail,
28:27Goldberg accidentally smacks the ring post and Sting tries to capitalize back inside the ropes.
28:33The world champ delivers a top rope splash, Goldberg kicks out of two, the stinger then
28:37spears Billy Boy and this pisses Goldberg off. Sting takes a kick right to the chin after Goldberg
28:43no sold the move but when Goldberg tries to spear he ends up whacking his shoulder off the ring post.
28:48Sting takes advantage with three stinger splashes but Bill's in a no selling mood tonight,
28:53he leapfrogs over Sting before spearing the world champ out of his boots and the match ends with a
28:58jackhammer from Bill Goldberg. Goldberg wins via pinfall, he gets handed the world heavyweight title
29:04and he celebrates like he just became the new champion. Dave Penzer announces that Goldberg
29:09is the new world champion, the commentators are extremely confused and Schiavone taps out by saying
29:14I don't know. So again, for the fourth or fifth time tonight, what the hell's going on? Sting complains to
29:21Charles Robinson after the bell, the referee takes a scorpion death drop so fans are left totally
29:26confused as Halloween Havoc goes off the air. I get it too, leave questions unanswered and hope
29:32fans tune into Nitro, but when you do this on PPV, you're making fans pay to leave the show more
29:37confused than curious. If you did buy this show on PPV, you'd swear to yourself you'll never buy
29:43another WCW show again because you don't get resolutions. Instead, you're being told to watch the
29:48free show on Monday night to get the answers to all your questions.
29:57An absolutely terrible show here from World Championship Wrestling. I will admit to enjoying Sid vs Goldberg,
30:03I did like the idea of a surprise main event, but I absolutely hated the reason behind that
30:09surprise main event. It's shocking to see Eddie Guerrero and Perry Saturn have a bad match, Bret
30:14Hart vs Total Package was abysmal. This was… it was bad and it's a really hard show to sit through
30:21from start to end. Honestly, I feel so drained after watching this garbage. I understand too that
30:27Russo has a fanbase and I get it, I totally get it if this is the kind of stuff you
30:32enjoyed, but I
30:33prefer the more traditional format for pro wrestling PPVs with long matches, a few promos here and there,
30:38and you know, a world championship match that actually happens inside the ring. If this is your cup
30:44of tea then please don't take offence. For me, it's just not what I enjoy and it doesn't feel like
30:50I'm watching a wrestling PPV anymore. It's just one weird incident after another and it's not fun.
30:56I'm sorry, but it's just not fun. Still, the Russo train continues on and we'll hopefully get some
31:02explanations on the next episode of Reliving the War. I hope to see you again next week if you decide
31:07to come back after this pile of horseshit. Addy soldier, thank you very much for watching and please take care.
31:13And I'll see you again next week.
31:13Bye!
31:14Bye!
31:15Bye!
31:15Gracias.
